Jim Geraghty at NRO has
the latest. I think the one that should drive Tea Partiers, and
any real conservative, the most crazy is this one:
In 2008, he hailed John McCain’s efforts in the crafting of the
TARP legislation: Gingrich put out a statement hailing McCain’s
eleventh-hour intervention. “This is the greatest single act of
responsibility ever taken by a presidential candidate and rivals
President Eisenhower saying, ‘I will go to Korea’. Eisenhower’s
pledge was enough to reassure voters that if elected he would find
a way to resolve the Korean conflict. McCain’s high-octane
involvement in the bailout is meant to convey the same sense of
stature and leadership, and to provide cover to reluctant
Republicans to support a deal that runs counter to everything they
thought they stood for.”
What a joke. This is what cost McCain the election. He had
actually pulled ahead in the polls until the financial panic hit,
and then he ran around like a chicken with its head cut off,
spewing nonsense such as “Blame SEC Chairman Chris Cox”
(specifically citing an error Cox supposedly made even though Cox
had actually done the exact OPPOSITE of what McCain accused him
of), a stalwart and honorably conservative who was just about the
only person to keep a level head during the crisis, and of course
supporting the execrable TARP at a time when opposing it would not
only have been good policy but also may well have WON him the
election. Yet here was Gingrich, in all his infinite political
(un)wisdom, hailing McCain’s idiocy as if it were both
statesmanlike and genius.
How many times does Gingrich need to be wrong on all levels?
(Can you say “Absolutely blown 1998 elections,” anyone?)

Gingrich Is A TARPSTER.
We Are Being Set Up By The RINO-CINO Flunkie Stooges.
These Are The RINO-CINO Flunkie Stooges Who Gave Us The Serial Traitor To Conservatism, John McCain Of McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy,McCain-Lieberman,Gang Of 14, Opposing Bush Tax Cuts Of 2001 & 2003,TARP.

Amen! Keep up the good work Quin.

" Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) is going after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in a new web ad running on conservative sites in Iowa and across the country. The hard-hitting spot highlights Gingrich’s profits from Freddie Mac and the health-care industry, his support for an individual health-care mandate, and his general shifts in positions over the years."

Clint, I hope you are right about the Tea Party because we are being told that Sara Palin and the Tea Party are going to endorse Gingrich. If they do, they will lose all credibility especially as people get to know the truth about gingrich's agenda. gingrich can't help his massive, self-absorbed ego which is why he dare to publicly speak about 'family' values after betraying his wives and his children...so if you can make sure the Tea Partiers and Sara Palin check out Newt thoroughly, that would be a big help.
Simon Templar| 12.1.11 @ 10:59AM
Sure, Clint, will put his tinfoil hat on and contact Tea Party's secret underground headquarters and let them know all about big bad Newt and he will give Sarah a nice talk and get the poor girl in line.
You have just confirmed that you are a disturbed troll.
Meh| 11.30.11 @ 5:38PM
I would be careful quoting anyone that was supporting McCain when it was crucial to get votes away from Obama at the time.
Gingrich may have been trying to stave off lost votes as a result of having to "live with" the nominee chosen.
florin| 11.30.11 @ 9:15PM
Please Meh...check Gingrich's pattern of behavior...
Simon Templar| 12.1.11 @ 11:00AM
Please check your own..get some help.

Gingrich was the reason the 1994 elections were an historic GOP victory.
What has Mitt Romney ever done for conservatives, Quin?
Get a grip.
Jane| 11.30.11 @ 8:18PM
Newt is kind of chunky his suits are baggy and his wife doesn't wear her makeup properly. I'm voting for someone else.
Dai Alanye | 12.1.11 @ 11:34AM
Let's all thank Jane for her contributions. Finally, some comments here that go beyond the superficial.
L. Ross| 12.1.11 @ 12:31PM
Dai, I believe your sarcasm meter needs calibration.

Milton Friedman said we are better off if we make the wrong people do the right thing. Newt may be the wrong person as far as his past conservative and family sins. But one thing is indisputable: Newt is a fighter. That's why people like him.
He went after the Democrats when the Republicans were quite satisfied with being losers. And he won. Contrast that with Romney. Romney avoids confrontation and is flummoxed by adversity. Check out his interview with Brett Baier. Romney, like McCain, is a political coward.
florin| 11.30.11 @ 9:16PM
Newt is a fighter...yeah...he went after Clinton for having an affair with an aide while he himself was doing the same thing...newt fights for newt...no one and nothing else.
teflon93| 12.1.11 @ 9:40AM
Newt resigned, though. That benefitted Republicans at the time.
Clinton didn't---he didn't give a fig what happened to the country or his party.
Romney's cut from the same cloth Clinton is, which is why he must never be president.
David T| 12.1.11 @ 10:09AM
Quin--Stop spewing nonsense. Did it occur to you that maybe, just maybe, Gingrich was engaging in a bit of political hyperbole to boost McCain's chances right before the election?
Simon Templar| 12.1.11 @ 11:03AM
That is too difficult for Quin to grasp, David T.
He is not interested in anything but his carrer goals and getting back to Boehners office and a nice cushy job in DC.
Oldefarte| 12.1.11 @ 11:26AM
'This is what cost McCain the election'? Give me a GD break! What cost him and Republicans the election was THE DUMBARS TAXPAYER-VOTERS OF THIS NATION VOTING '''''''STUPIDLY'''''''FOR THE H&C BULLEXCREMENT OF A RADICALIZED LIBERAL FROM CHICAGO WHOSE ASSOCIATES INCLUDED A DOMESTIC TERRORIST, A BLACK LIBERATION RACIST PREACHER, A SYRIAN CORRUPT HOUSING SLUMLORD ETC INSTEAD OF A DEDICATED, PATRIOTRIC WAR HERO WITH ONE ARM MANGLED FROM YEARS IN A POW CAMP;AND THOSE SAME DA'S BEING SO ASININELY BLINDED BY THEIR DISGUST OVER THE LONGTERM OF A QUESTIONABLE FOREIGN WAR INVOLVEMENT THAT THEY '''''''STUPIDLY'''''' ATTEMPTED TO MASSAGE THEIR GUILT OVER SLAVERY BY VOTING FOR A SUBVERSIVE RADICAL TO ASSUME THE POWERS OF THE HIGHEST POLITICAL OFFICE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
L. Ross| 12.1.11 @ 12:35PM
I do appreciate your enthusiasm, and your visceral dislike for BHO. However, I have always felt that John McCain was unelectable. All Republicans in the current race are better than McCain. I believe we have a fighting chance this time around.
Oldefarte| 12.1.11 @ 2:35PM
LR: I'm not pontificating that McCain was the BE-ALL, END-ALL of Republican candidates [just as was not Dole]; but instead that Mac would have been [and is] a far, far better [and much more intelligent] choice to lead this country as president. FYI, my choice in 2008 was Rudy but he flamed and burned early, and the resultant choice was Mac. My one/only point is that LOOK AT WHO/WHAT WE NOW HAVE AS PRESIDENT and then tell me that a ham sandwich would not have been a better, sanier selection for voters to make in 2008??????
Oldefarte| 12.1.11 @ 2:42PM
PS: I'm simply pointing a finger of disgust at the stupidity of the voters in November of 2008 for casually allowing a do-nothing, nincompoot [who couldn't successfully manage a chicken fast foo joint in downtown Detroit and make a profit] to become PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. It was then the STUPIDS in the IT'S THE DEMOCRATS STUPIDS that allowed that to occur!!!!!!
