A Thought for Wilson Ramos

Yesterday, Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos was kidnapped from his family's home in Venezuela by armed gunmen.

As of this writing, Ramos' family has not been contacted for a ransom demand. Although kidnapping has become increasingly commonplace in Latin America, Venezuela makes Mexico look like a placid oasis by comparison. For its part, the Chavez regime see fits not to publish kidnapping statistics.

At this point, we can only hope for Ramos safe return.

UPDATE: Ramos was rescued tonight by Venezuelan security forces.
