Murphy Out; Crystal In

A day after Eddie Murphy withdrew from hosting the Academy Awards, Billy Crystal announced he will step into the breach and be its master of ceremonies for the ninth time.

I know a lot AmSpec readers care little for Hollywood movies and the liberal messages that often permeate them. But Billy Crystal and the Oscars go together like peas and carrots. Even if the movies nominated aren't all that interesting, Crystal always make a great medley from them.

If nothing else, there's something reassuring about having him there.

But let's not forget that Crystal was not above making some snotty anti-Bush jokes himself.

Billy Crystal is painfully unfunny whenever he hosts. At least Murphy promised something different, although, to be fair, his best and funniest days seem to be well behind him.

Here are a few results to help you decide which neighbor’s door to knock on this Halloween.

I'd watch Mixed Martial Arts before watching the Academy Awards show.
