The Spectacle Blog

This afternoon a woman named Sharon Bialek came forward not to accuse Herman Cain of sexual harassment but of sexual assault. Bialek, a former employee at the National Restaurant Association, claims that in July 1997 Cain attempted to put his hand up her skirt and also attempted to force her head to his crotch while they were parked in a car in Washington, D.C. Bialek claimed the incident took place after she had dinner with Cain. She said she met Cain at the behest of her boyfriend in an effort to get her job back with the National Restaurant Association.

Gloria Allred, Bialek's attorney who was at her side at the press conference in New York, quipped that it was Cain's "idea of a stimulus package."

So let me see if I get this straight. Bialek comes forward with a serious allegation (one she could have reported to the police) and Allred makes a joke out of it. It doesn't exactly make Bialek's allegations look credible. If Bialek is serious about her allegations she would fire Allred immediately.

It is worth noting that Joan Walsh of Salon wasn't amused with Allred's joke stating it "trivialized" Bialek's allegations. "Very dumb," tweeted Walsh.

Allred is a legal whore who is out for the headlines. Fie on her.

The world is on the verge of WW3 and complete fiscal collapse and this magazine and the the other main stream media are concerned with the Herman Cain Reality Show. Herman is Mr Federal Reserve, Mr. TARP and other bailouts, Mr. Incoherent on abortion, Mr. Endless wars for Israel, Mr. know nothing about history, economics, foreign policy, monetary policy, and the Constitution. Now he has a long history of demanding favors from people that worked for him. Well I know a lot of restaurant managers who could not keep their hands off the wait staff. Herman has a lot of company.

Pete2| 11.7.11 @ 8:42PM

So I can assume you do not like Herman Cain, Jack? How's the bunker coming along? Got your tin hat also? Whom do you think would be a good president...Ron Paul? You sound like a Ron Paul supporter/nutcase. Pretty well tired of hearing people like you whining about the end of the world. Herman Cain is a lot better than what we've been saddled with so far.

Jack in Wi| 11.7.11 @ 11:21PM

Ron Paul has been right on the issues and solutions for decades. Nuts like you who back Herman Cain are the ones who have been wrong for decades and think that endless wars and endless bailouts are the best thing for America.

999 is the most ignorant tax plan anyone has ever come up with. The elites have had a dream of getting the suckers to get a national sales tax to fund all their wars and graft. The only way to get this country back in shape is bring the troops home and slash spending. That includes about 1/2 the Defense budget and ending all foreign aid. I want granny to keep getting dialysis rather then thieves like Netanyahu and the Arabs getting our money

LC JB| 11.8.11 @ 12:11PM

Bingo !!! Another PaulBot shows up.

Damn but they're easy to spot.

Trinacria| 11.7.11 @ 5:58PM

Allred is the Caucasian/female version of Al Sharpton. Never met a pseudo victim that she wasn't happy to pimp in the publicity racket.

Stay tuned for the "victims" marching with locked arms on either side of the chicken-necked Allred prior to the next Republican debate...

Simon Templar| 11.7.11 @ 5:58PM

She knows how ridiculous her story is, that is why she is making jokes about this topic.

Solo| 11.7.11 @ 6:07PM

Well...if this doesn't work I'm sure there are at least 100,000 more leftist women out there willing to lie in order to damage a conservative. Particularly a black conservative; the most dangerous to the left of all.

JPM| 11.7.11 @ 7:04PM

Aaron, that is the most desperate, pathetic and futile effort to discredit a hostile witness I have ever seen. Allred made a joke so her client isn't credible?! Sheesh

Dan| 11.7.11 @ 7:49PM

Concur.

Aaron is reaching for straws.

The smart move now is for all those on the Cain bandwagon to get off fast, before they all end up looking like those Democrats still defending Weiner, right before the photos came out.

Some people here are so far out on the plank for Cain that they don't even know how to turn around, let alone walk back off that plank. They are that far out there!

Allred cuts a joke so supposedly all of the credibile accusations against Cain by her client are worthless. Is he for real with that?

Dan| 11.7.11 @ 7:28PM

Come on Aaron, you are reaching for straws.

ANOTHER woman came forward, she appeared poised and credible.

It stands to reason if he was accused once, there were others, for the men who do these things are recidivists.

Clearly he's gotten away with this.

He never imagined he run for the Republican nomination, and he probably never imagined he get this far this campaign season.

He was a Washington lobbyist, {that's what the NRA is, it's a lobbying group, which he was the President of}, and lots of give and take occurs within Washington, and women are not infrequently asked to put out to gain a hearing.

Occam's Tool| 11.7.11 @ 7:59PM

Allred is a skank. Come on. She brings instant disgrace to anyone she represents.

PCC| 11.8.11 @ 1:13AM

Dan,

There's nothing wrong with reaching for straws; problems arise when you grasp at them.

Bob Grant| 11.7.11 @ 7:36PM

I confuse Gloria Allred with Nancy Pelosi all of the time...I wonder why that is.

Clint| 11.7.11 @ 7:45PM

Cain's lucky Miss Bialek's boyfriend didn't kick his ass.

Occam's Tool| 11.7.11 @ 8:00PM

What boyfriend, and for what?

Clint| 11.7.11 @ 8:03PM

Duuuuuhhhhhhh !

Read The Article, Mensa Boy.

Dan| 11.7.11 @ 7:51PM

And if this happened ten years ago, or more, that blonde chick would have been hot. So Herm got all hot and bothered for the blonde chick.

Imagine how that's going to fly with the Bible Belt.

Occam's Tool| 11.7.11 @ 8:01PM

Dear Dan,

unlike you, I've lived in the Bible Belt. Cheating on his wife will be problematic. Dating a white woman means nothing---Judge Clarence Thomas is popular down South.

Bob Grant| 11.7.11 @ 9:08PM

Dan the Man,

What's your point? Bible belters become seething racists when men of color hit on (or worse) white women; regardless of the alleged offenders' political bent?

Bottom line it for us slow-witted tea baggers, if you will.

Or, is it your game to suggest general racist accusations with nothing you can be called on?

Come on tough guy, bring it.

Dan| 11.8.11 @ 12:26PM

The point is rather straight forward.

In 2000, the GOP candidate almost lost Florida's electoral college votes because of a prior and undisclosed DUI arrest.

Certain states have to be held by the GOP candidate, and if any one of those states should fail to go for the GOP candidate, ----------- such a candidate then would lose the general election.

The South must be a "strong South" for the Republican party. States like Virginia and North Carolina can't defect and go for the Democrat. Otherwise, the Republicans lose.

That area publicly termed "the Bible Belt" has historically not been apt to cast an understanding eye at sexual activities of Republican candidates. See the Giuliani campaign in 2008.

Through the prism of American political history, Cain's candidacy should be already dead in the water.

MikeN| 11.7.11 @ 9:58PM

Did Gloria Allred support the one free grope rule when it was declared?

MikeN| 11.7.11 @ 9:59PM

Saw Allred do this before. Norm MacDonald made fun of her for it on his now cancelled sports show. She was holding a press conference with a little girl, and demonstrating in front of the girl the alleged actions.

Dana| 11.7.11 @ 10:29PM

I think this woman is credible and although I have been a supporter of Cain, I think it's time to look elsewhere and Newt is looking better and better. Time is running short.

Purple Lips| 11.8.11 @ 8:49AM

Nov 2012 is 12 months away.

MikeN| 11.7.11 @ 11:39PM

So because Cain committed a one-free-grope, you won't support him? OK, that's fair. What's not fair is to then turn to a candidate who divorced his first wife while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer, and cheated on his second wife.

MikeN| 11.8.11 @ 12:48AM

By the way, the details of this story do not add up. I am not a large purveyor of porn, but it seems to me that both actions simultaneously is close to impossible. What type of car did Mr Cain have? Where is the gearshift? Cupholders and armrests?

Mick Lee| 11.8.11 @ 6:52AM

I hate to say this since I'm a Cain supporter: whether these stories are true or not, Cain is cooked.

LC JB| 11.8.11 @ 12:23PM

Nice to see that in a few short days, the LSM and a few leftists can destroy someone merely for the 'crime' of daring to have a different ideology. This is a hint as to what is to come in the generals. In typical fashion the Institutional Repubs won't support whoever the nominee is regardless. Lately they've committed to eating their own, while the left laughs maniacally. I truly fear that Ogabe will be re-elected out of default. The ONLY thing that would be to the positive in this case is that the GOP will be destroyed. We conservatives have had enough of the Party Of Stoopid going out of their way to be demo-lites. 2012 should be the last year for the GOP. I think we've reached the point that forming a 3rd party is of critical importance if we're to survive the assault by the left. We can no longer see good candidates lose, because the establishment thinks they're "too extreme" and "only moderates" can be elected. Enough of their BS, the public is crying out for solid conservatives and the establishment gives us New England liberals and John McCains.
