Hold the Butter

Earlier today, I wrote my initial thoughts about Sharon Bielak's accusations against Herman Cain particularly where it concerned the comments of her attorney Gloria Allred.

Prior to writing my commentary, Ross Kaminsky declared, "Get out the butter: unfortunately, Herman Cain's campaign is toast."

Well, I say hold the butter. And for that matter the marmalade. I am simply not convinced that Cain is done:

Again, I have no idea whether Bialek's story is true, but at this point there is simply too much smoke not to assume a fire, even for those of us who like Cain and could imagine supporting him for the presidency.

If I were Cain, I would strongly consider giving this up and making sure to save my marriage.

Give Ross a gold star. We don't know if Bielak's story is true. Doesn't the truth matter? Or do we live in an age where accusations equal truth? Are we to take Bielak's claims at face value? If not then why on earth should Cain drop out of the race if the story is a bald faced lie?

Yes there's smoke. But I think it's being blown where the moon don't shine. As for the other women who have leveled accusations we still don't know the substance of these other allegations other than they "were not overtly sexual." Bielak not only accuses Cain of being overtly sexual but of being physically violent. Something just doesn't add up here.

As for Herman and Gloria Cain, somehow I don't think their marriage is an issue. They've been married for over 43 years. I can't imagine there are a lot of secrets between them.

I have a radical idea. Let the people decide Herman Cain's fate. Maybe the seeds of doubt will germinate and his campaign will be buried in dirt. Or perhaps people will recognize weeds, punish those who sow the seeds of discontent and see fit to help Herman Cain rise to the top.

I have never seen his wife. But then again I haven't been looking for her. Does she appear with him? Has she done the usual stand by her man routine? I did watch the hot blond who made the accusations against Herm. To me anyhow, she was totally believable.

Again no evidence is put forth. This one has a name but this one didn't even file a complaint at the time.

17,000 google news headlines and no real story yet. Meanwhile the media won't even report on the recorded comments Obama made about the leader of Israel.

The MSM is untrustworthy, they have nothing in common with journalists any longer.

I'm not buying any of it until there is proof.

You can't keep a good man down. Not even with used up DC pundits.

"Physically violent"? I didn't get that from the clips I saw of the press conference.

Anything involving Gloria Allred is immediately suspect as an exercise in golddigging.

Accusations are not evidence, unless they involve sexual innuendo or charges of racism, in which case, in modern American society, you are guilty until proven guilty.

Bugger the MSM.
Where is it written they get to decide for whom the Republicans can vote for?

Cain should stay in in until the voters decide.
It would be foolish for him to drop out at this point.

I was very disturbed by Ross Kaminsky's statement that"at this point there is simply too much smoke not to assume a fire." We have seen smear tactics many times before and know that whoever gets the GOP nomination is going to be subject to a very dirty campaign. The nominee's life will be investigated, embarrassing events will be overblown and misrepresented. Outright lies will be made and the GOP nominee will be held to a much different standard than Obama. So for Ross to say he is reacting to the smoke without seeing any fire demonstrates a defeatist mentality. I am not planning to vote for Cain, but I know this attack is an early preview of what is coming for any GOP nominee. If Ross crosses off a candidate based on this level of evidence, perhaps he should stay in the locker room in 2012 because this election is going to get very nasty. The Dems and the media have already promised that. It will take undieing determination to beat the left and restore America.

The Left is playing the Republicans for chumps.

The allegations are fourteen years old: where are the lawsuits? I know there were five-figure settlements, but that is very small potatoes, nuisance suit stuff. The allegation (also more than a decade old) that Cain "groped" a woman is a sex crime in most states. No crime report? No investigation? And suddenly, long after the statute of limitations has expired on these incidents (both civil and criminal) these women come forward with their stories. Of course, it is purely coincidental that Cain was rising in the polls when the accusation aired. Gloria Allred appeared with the latest "victim". Anyone else recall that she pulled a similar stunt with a former housekeeper for Meg Whitman just before the 2010 gubernatorial election in California, effectively sealing her defeat?

Obama's campaign makes no secret that class warfare will be the meme of their re-election effort. Romney, the moneyed blue-blood, is a poster child for their down-with-the-rich theme. Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich, and particularly Cain will spoil the Left's party. Thus, he must be crushed before he is nominated.

If we let the Left get away with this slander, we will reap four more years of Obama and richly earn the sobriquet "the Stupid Party."

A Cain withdrawal = victory for the media.

Don't let them have it, regardless of who you support.
