Those perceptive Canadians notice that a disparity of income
isn’t the only thing that separates protesters from the so-called
one percent. This hilarious quote is reported by Mark Schatzker of
The Globe and Mail who interviewed protesters:
“It’s weird protesting on Bay Street. You get there at 9 a.m.
and the rich bankers who you want to hurl insults at and change
their worldview have been at work for two hours already. And then
when it’s time to go, they’re still there. I guess that’s why they
call them the one per cent. I mean, who wants to work those kinds
of hours? That’s the power of greed.” - Jeremy, 38
UPDATE, FIVE MINUTES LATER: Is this a parody? Maybe? In which
case, I solicit our readers to offer quotes that are just as wacky
but true.

It's a satire. A very good one, too.

Talk about oblivious. It's reminds me of when people flipped out about Satanism quotes from Harry Potter readers that were supplied by the Onion. http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/potter.asp

As a fast-food restaurant manager for 10 years, then another 20 years in retail management I worked "those kind of hours", 6, sometimes 7 days a week. It never got me any where near the top 1%, although the managers two levels above me and beyond working a lot less hours certainly were a lot closer to the top 1%.

With all due respect, upon what rational basis did you expect to reach the top 1% category of earners working in middle management in the fast food and retail industries?
Being in the 99th percentile (top 1%) generally requires a skill, talent, or knowledge that isn't commonly possessed by those in the general population (of course, good fortune does on rare occasion catapult an otherwise average individual into this category; however, this is a rare exception). What unique skill, talent, or knowledge does one need to possess in order to be a middle manager in the fast food or retail industry? Are the pre-requisites for those jobs such that they couldn't be met by virtually any adult with a high school education and an IQ around the median? If not, it's a simple matter of supply and demand - there's an abundant supply of individuals with the requisite skill and intellect to perform the job; therefore, the price an employer must pay to secure the services of one of these individuals is relatively low. The fact that you were willing to work "those kind of hours" 6 or 7 days a week for 20+ years for a relatively modest income proves this point (if your skills and/or knowledge were such that you could demand a higher salary, you would). It's just that simple.

What is the fast track to the top 1% without working, it is very simple, just marry big money, aka John Kerry, John McCain, Nancy Pelosi, Grace Kelly and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
It is called “Gold Digging” and although disreputable it does work.

Like Maria Shriver, too.

Dude ...You are missing the true horror and comedic irony for the McGovern Electoral Reforms.
The last two 2nd place Presidential runner ups were “Gigolos” and “Gold Diggers”.
Aka... John Kerry and John McCain.
Oh.... The Humanity.

Below a video of an interview with a woman attending the Occupy Atlanta protest. Among other knee-slappingly hilarious (though at times incomprehensible) comments is the following (not making this up; view it for yourself): "I am here with the students...protesting against equality and change."

In NY, I saw a pair of OWS fellow travelers marching shoulder to shoulder carrying a pair of signs that these comrades no doubt felt were in perfect harmony with their (muddled) ideas: FREEDOM NOW! and CONTROL THE ECONOMY!

Yeah, it's a satire, but it says a lot about the Occupy movement that you have to sit and think about it for a minute.

Protesting as a 9-to-5 job. Interesting concept.
Maybe they could put it on their resume as "field work for non-profit."

For a one percenter life is not a day at the park. They are willing to live like no one else (work diligently and make sacrifices) so that they can "live like no one else" (live large). Heads up, park occupants; , 1% of you will be prepared for the change in the seasons. And won't you just hate them!

My favorite, at least so far came from Roseanne Barr who wants to behead "guilty bankers." However, when her obvious hypocrisy was pointed out (She is worth some $80 million), she tweeted back that only the "guilty" should be beheaded and she, of course is "not guilty" (Although one must wonder what such a repulsive person actually DOES with her $80 million and, having seen her perform - one must wonder how she actually EARNED it).
Torontonian| 10.29.11 @ 11:05AM
The Occupy Toronto group are a joke. They had a split the first week between those that wanted to sleep in at St. James Park, and twenty people who wanted to occupy the financial district at 9AM. The public sector unions and the Auto Workers keep trying to whip their sorry little *sses into some action. The occupiers don't see the irony in having one of the biggest donators to the Obama campaign helping them March on the financial area, and the public sector unions who have their pension funds rolled up in downtown real estate and the market. These people are just rent-a-mobs.

Just gotta love the author's huzpah.
OK, the quotes he used in his article were made-up satire from another rightwing source, but he's sure some of his readers will supply quotes that fit his thinking.
Question to the author . . . Will you verify the additional reader quotes to the same standard you didn't use with the quotes in your original article.
