The Spectacle Blog

Yesterday, a CBS News/New York Times poll was released which showed that 43% of Americans agreed with the aims and objectives of Occupy Wall Street.

Nonsense.

As soon as I saw the headline, I knew that there had to be an overrepresentation of Democrats and Democratic leaning voters in the survey and sure enough my hunch was correct. Of those surveyed, 35% identified themselves as Democats while only 25% identified themselves as Republicans. When asked about their voting behavior, 37% of respondents indicated they always or usually voted for Democrats as opposed to 27% of respondents who always or usually voted for Republicans.

It is also worth noting that in the 2008 election, Barack Obama defeated John McCain by a margin of just over 7% (52.9% to 45.7%) whereas in this poll the margin between Obama and McCain was nearly twice as much at 13% (40% to 27%).

Of course, there is a chunk of the American electorate which is broadly sympathetic to the Occupy movement. While many Americans do not hold the federal government in high esteem there’s no way in hell that 43% of Americans think the federal government is no better than al Qaeda. If that were the case then God help us all.

These poll results are nothing more than wishful thinking on the part of CBS News, The New York Times and the liberal media who will move heaven and earth to re-elect President Obama even though he has little to show for his one thousand plus days in office.

You're right, Aaron.

I know some were interested in this, so I will post it here:

Many had expressed interest in how this guy put this together before it happened.

Once again we see blatant bias from the Dead Stream Media idiots. This shouldn't be a surprise to any of us here. The poll is much like the one involving Paul. You know, the ones showing him ahead by some dopey margin. This poll is a poster-boy for the liberal movement. Anything have the NYT label is suspect prima facie.

Mark Twain had it correct: lies, damned lies and statistics.

Expect many more of these dopey push polls for the next year or so.

Do you agree with Stalin's plan to increase food production? Do you agree with Mussolini's promise to get the trains to run on time? It's not only how you ask the question but also how to get the answer you want to serve the purpose of the propaganda.

There is a 'Class War' going on and TRAITORS like Aaron are giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

The reason there can't be that many people supporting their position is there aren't that many people who even know what that position is. I am not sure I even know, and I didn't think that even those doing the actual protesting really know.
