Quin Hillyer thinks Eric Holder should
not hold on as Attorney General. I read his
piece and find little with which to disagree.
Nevertheless, I think Holder should stay.
Now why should we want Eric Holder to remain?
Well, Quin answers that question in the first sentence of his
article when he notes that Marc Thiessen’s Washington Post
article from earlier this week in which Holder is referred to as
Obama’s albatross.
An albatross by its very definition is
something that is “an obstacle to success.” Under those
circumstances, if Holder is an obstacle that will impede the
re-election of Barack Obama then by all means he should remain
right where he is at the Department of Justice.
Eric Holder is a constant reminder of President Obama’s
shortcomings. The longer Holder is around the less likely Obama
will be.

You say there is something that will impede Zero's election bid '12?
You speak of the POTUS that seeks no authorization for the use of military for any duration of time under any circumstance he desires.
The same man that has been unable to provide (credible) documentation as to his birth.
...the man that has completely blocked his scholastic background from any review.
...the man that has no regard for morality, personal or national.
...the man that repeatedly shows contempt for the rule of law in part or whole save where his personal interests are a concern.
...the only POTUS to publicly show contempt for all that is American including it's citezenry.
Yet, with all this, and more, you feel he needs an albatross to impede his re-election chances?
With so much contempt & disregard for all that this nation stands for continually on display from this man...
Yet he remains in office virtually unchallenged. He finds enough free time to cheer on a band of scumbags that protest his primary source of funding allowing for his continued ruinous treachery.

Hard to argue with you on pragmatic grounds, Mr. Goldstein. Morally, however, I struggle with even tacitly endorsing the continued employment of an attorney general whose actions are so morally reprehensible (fast and furious, rampant unapologetic racialist actions and policies, perjury) that they literally place American lives in danger. If we're willing to look the other way in order to achieve our larger political objective, do we not become - at least on some level - complicit in his represhensible actions?

Well I would like to se them all removed from office in chains for their many crimes. The trouble with this country is most Federal officials never have to answer for their misdeeds. A couple of Presidents sitting in jail, in our history, would have been very good for the Republic.

To synthesize all of the above comments, along with the competing points of Messrs. Hillyer and Goldstein, couldn't Holder be forced from office, then tried publicly, not for policy differences and decisions, but for his perjurious misfeasance, malfeasance and perjury, thereby allowing him to remain in the public eye and serve as the albatross to the POTUS during his re-election bid.

Who does Obama replace him with? How does Holder get payed off behind the scenes? How can the cover-up hold if Holder is no longer running it? Would Obama use a recess appointment for the AG?
Holder leaving would open up the dam imo. The scandal would spin-out of control.
