Christie was promised the job of Health Care Czar if he dropped out of the race.
LarryK| 10.11.11 @ 3:14PM
And your source for this statement is... intuition?
Bob K.| 10.11.11 @ 4:09PM
It's a sure thing! Either Romney or Obama made the offer. Maybe both!
Al Adab| 10.11.11 @ 2:48PM
Can anyone answer why the GOP thinks it can find success by nominating someone to the left of McCain? We all know how well that campaign turned out.
Here we have a historic opportunity to consolidate Conservative gains across the country and we are being told that only this establishmentarian, accomodationist, liberal Republican who represents opposition to the Conservative Movement (as did his father before him) can be our nominee. What is the purpose in electing one who has policies which will result in the GOP being blammed for the Obama disaster?
I could not be more dissappointed in the "courage" of the GOP.
George S| 10.11.11 @ 3:16PM
They're not looking for success but affirmation. They desperately want a win to show that left leaning moderation is main stream. With a badly damaged Obama and an ascending Tea party out for electoral blood, now is the perfect opportunity for a RINO. Think vultures. The only thing those clumsy birds can catch are dead animals killed by others.
Robbie| 10.11.11 @ 3:45PM
Rather than whine about courage, whine about the fact most of the 2012 field is a bunch of crazies who have no chance to win. Obama could have a 30% approval rating and some of these jokers would muck it up.
If you don't like Romney, fine. I don't really care for him either. Who's better though? Newt and his shameless self promotion? Bachmann and her fixation with HPV? Santorum and his fear gay soldiers will now shower with straight soldiers? Or maybe it's Cain and his diversion from the campaign to sell books during October?

Hello Dixie:
I suppose it's all in how we define extremism and where the center actually lies. I suggest the current President is an extremist, but I don't perceive one on the GOP side. Every issue can be examined in the light of reason and Constitutional principles and I find none outside that context.

Al.... You need to lighten up and enjoy the absurdities when they occur.
Kevin the “Lost Bunny of the Apocalypse” running for President is one of them.
The above Kevin post was meant for the amusement of the TAS Online readership only.
There was no deep philosophical point or hidden meaning in the joke.
Enjoy it for the absurdity that it is.

Thank you Dixie, I shall take your comment as the constructive and friendly criticism it was intended to be. I have been told by others (my wife included who tells me I analyize things too much) that I need to lighten up. Sometime the stakes seem so high that it is difficult to do, but I shall endeavor, with your help, to keep my sense of humor alive and well. Have a good evening.
Dixie Pixie| 10.11.11 @ 8:22PM
Just enjoy...Al....Just enjoy.

What exactly is the definition of a RINO? I'd really like to know because it seems to change regularly. In 2008, Romney was the cat's meow. Now he's a liberal like Obama. In 2009, Christie was awesome, now he's just a loud windbag. Some of you must have permanent whip lash because you veer wildly back and forth as to who's in the movement and who's out of the movement.
Al Adab| 10.11.11 @ 5:05PM
Truth be told RINO is actually the republican party. They contro it even though the only success the GOP has enjoyed is when Conservatives preponderate. Conservatives decry RINOs yet they themselves are the minority in the GOP. The Conservative Movement has no where to go but to control the GOP and present a viable alternative to statist policies from the Left and liberal republicans.
martin j smith| 10.11.11 @ 4:13PM
Its Same Old Same Old. So here is a question: Do the Republican Establishment really care about winning the election over Obama or....Are they more concerned about not having a Conservative\? Putting more succinctly, do they really want to win this election year ?
If the Republican establishment does not want to defeat Socialism then those that do need to think about how to deal with that now not later.
Al Adab| 10.11.11 @ 5:02PM
A Romney supporter on one of the threads yesterday was glleful about a Romney candidacy as it would rid the party of the right-wing kooks. Now I can easily assume Mr. Romnay does not share that view, however his wing of the party since his fathers day has opposed the Conservative Movement even though that movement brought the GOP success in 1980 and 1994.
Jim| 10.11.11 @ 4:24PM
Methinks the Republican establishment is running a bit scared. Go Cain! He has a compelling story, tons of executive experience (Sorry, Mona Charen, that counts for political experience in my book), and is Prolife to his core. God Bless him. Cain has my vote!!!!
Bob| 10.11.11 @ 6:25PM
Me thinks blubber belly got a job offer. Minister of fat and cholesterol. Me thinks Romneycare superstar ought to appoint our chubby friend campaign manager so he can go out and flab the opposition to death.
TruthSpeaker| 10.11.11 @ 8:18PM
Christie has lost my confidence and his backing Romney does Romney no good. What really bothers me is that the Repubs are not willing to do what is necessary to try to save our country. Politics is one thing: this is our LIVES we are dealing with. I dont want another fiasco for prez.
