The Spectacle Blog

Well, now that I’ve had a chance to reflect on the collapse of the Boston Red Sox while Larry Thornberry revels in the triumph of the Tampa Bay Rays, I shall make my 2011 MLB post-season predictions.

AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES (BEST 3 OUT OF 5)

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers - Rays in four

Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees - Tigers in three

NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES (BEST 3 OUT OF 5)

Philadelphia Phillies vs. St. Louis Cardinals - Cardinals in five

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers - D’Backs in four

AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (BEST 4 OUT OF 7)

Detroit Tigers vs. Tampa Bay Rays - Tigers in seven

ALCS MVP: Brandon Inge, Detroit Tigers

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (BEST 4 OUT OF 7)

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. St. Louis Cardinals - D’Backs in six

NLCS MVP: Paul Goldschmidt, Arizona Diamondbacks

2011 WORLD SERIES (BEST 4 OUT OF 7)

Detroit Tigers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks - D’Backs in seven

World Series MVP: John McDonald, Arizona Diamondbacks

I picked the Tigers to win the AL pennant and I’m sticking to it. Tigers fans will find themselves in the awkward position of rooting against D’Backs manager Kirk Gibson and bench coach Alan Trammell. Gibby and Trammell were integral parts of the last Tiger team to win a World Series back in 1984. Indeed, Trammell was named the Series MVP. Let the fun resume.

What? No Cubs or Sox? That's a shocking surprise! ;-)

This might be great for Detroit, but think about the message a Diamondbacks v. Rangers series would send to the eastern media. Does MLB arrange for big market finals like so many suspect the NBA does?

Interesting selections but anything can happen in a short series in an era when there are no real power house teams. Teams get hot and then turn cold. Hitters do the same. The Philles have the best starting pitching. If everything goes to form it should keep them in the game. The Phils hitters will have to play up to their starters level to win it all.

It keeps the fans talking.

I don't understand at all why Detroit fans will feel awkward rooting against the Diamondbacks because Gibson and Trammell manage and coach the team. Life moves on. So do retired players. Detroit fans have their money and emotions invested in the team.

Philadelphia has the best pitching lineup in baseball. They also have the bats. I'm gonna say the Phillies will win it all this post season.

Tampa/Rangers now even up.

Yankees up one game thanks to the weather.

Phillies down by 3 in 1st inning get 11 and hang on in 9th to win 11-6 after Halladay retires 21 in a row.

Milwaukee which had 57 of it's 96 wins at home won it's first game at home.

Mr. G, Diamondbacks in 4?!!! The Brew Crew will have few problems going through them like crap through a tin horn. Best,

Clint| 10.3.11 @ 6:45AM

Cards get 13 hits & reverse Phillies 5-4.

Brad| 10.5.11 @ 5:56PM

Wow. You do realize you stand a very, very good chance of going 0-fer in the first round, right?

Slewing bearing is also called slewing bearing, some people called: rotary support, swing support.
