North Carolina Republican congressional candidate Vernon
Robinson denounced Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s immigration stance
outside, as his statement described it, “a Mexican Restaurant which
hosts a $1000 a plate fundraiser for fatcats undoubtedly
celebrating continued access to cheap drywall and other 7 million
jobs held by illegals while 14 million Americans look for
work.”
“If Governor Perry’s amnesty policy is adopted, it will mark the
first time a Texan has surrendered to Mexico in 175 years,”
continued Robinson. Robinson called for using troops to secure the
border, implementing e-Verify, cutting off welfare to illegal
immigrants, an end to ballot printed in Spanish and other foreign
languages, rescinding birthright citizenship, and restricting the
jurisdiction of federal judges who stand in the way.
Robinson, who has run for Congress unsuccessfully before, is a
conservative firebrand. One of his favorite lines is, “Jesse Helms
is back — and this time he’s black!” The district Robinson is
running in, currently represented by Democrat Larry Kissel, has
been redrawn to make it more Republican.

I think the GOP better watch "piling on Perry", he is extremely popular in Texas and if you pixx Texas people off, they may stay home. We will all lose.
9thID| 9.29.11 @ 3:24PM
We won't be blackmailed to vote for another RINO by anyone this time around...
Occam's Tool| 9.29.11 @ 8:28PM
No. I don't think they will. Not if a man like Herman Cain makes it.
NotPropagandized| 9.30.11 @ 1:08AM
I agree. Ill-advised and totally, 100%, completely unnecessary attack on a TeaParty popular candidate despite poor debate performance and his record being slanderously twisted. I was planning to send money as part of aggressive minority Republican candidate promotion, but despite initial impressive credentials, his attack is so stupid there's chance for more stupid decisions. Texas is a great place to get money because a lot of Texans like to support candidates with conservative bona fides.
Mr. Robinson, I heartily suggest you do some homework on this and get some political guidance.
btims| 9.29.11 @ 2:07PM
Nothing will change because the basic fact is 100% of Dems and most Repubs are in favor of mass immigration - legal and illegal. Until that mindset changes, immigration will not change.
Learn Spanish and get a Muslim prayer rug, cuz you're gonna need both in the future - this is what political elites want. Flood the USA with foreign born. It is done.
ncatty| 9.29.11 @ 2:48PM
Vernon is a character.
Margie| 9.29.11 @ 3:37PM
Rick Perry's not perfect... neither are we.
If he happens to become the nominee, we should vote for him.
Even my fave so far, Herman Cain isn't perfect. Each one has their issues that they aren't, or weren't right about, but as the WISE know:
Consider the alternative!
(That would be Obama).
dina| 9.29.11 @ 4:27PM
Perry = Obama ...Perry is "leaving the porch light on for illegals" . He is actually "gifting the illegals that drag their kids into the country by giving them in-state tuition. Not all Texan's are for Perry and many are against CRIMINAL INVADERS. We should not settle and we SHOULD SEND A MESSAGE THAT PANDERING TO ILLEGALS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
Margie| 9.29.11 @ 4:59PM
Sorry, but Rick Perry does NOT equal Obama.
That is ridiculous.
So.. you're ready to "settle" for Obama again?
How sad.
Occam's Tool| 9.29.11 @ 8:29PM
Correct as usual, Margie. Perry is flawed, but Obama is horrific. Only two Republican candidates are to the Left of Obama on Foreign Policy---and you and I know who they are.
NotPropagandized| 9.30.11 @ 1:15AM
Your comment is so completely wrong. It suggests your political observation skills are shallow. I suggest a little more time in study.
By the way, how would you build 1200 miles of fence along the RioGrandeRiver? Go take a look at it on GlobalEarth and see if somewhere down deep you might think that Perry could know what he's doing after fighting the good fight for 10 years.
Also, Texas is a unique place and mixed culture and completely different from Arizona and it's awful problems. The solutions for the two states are completely different. You'd know if you lived it. How many centuries has there been conflict and community across the RioGrande. History means something, even for dyed in the wool conservatives.
JGwen| 9.29.11 @ 4:28PM
Perry has said that if he's elected president, he would solve the problems of drug trafficking, illegal immigration and violence along the southern border of the U.S. He declared that "we will stop the drug cartels and we will stop the illegal immigration." In a CNBC interview he has said that "we need to have an immigration policy that's thoughtful."
In Texas, Governor Perry has dedicated millions of State tax moneys to supplement Federal Border Security. Texas passed voter ID in the latest legislative session. They offered, then withdrew, legislation to require "undocumented students" to pay full tuition. They rejected sanctuary city legislation.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry told NewsMax that his “heartless” comment regarding in-state tuition was “inappropriate.” He has modified his perception of those who would oppose in-state rates for undocumented students. PERRY: I probably chose a poor word to explain that, to people who don’t want their state to be giving tuition to illegal aliens, illegal immigrants in this country. That’s their call and I respect that. And I was probably a bit over-passionate by using that word and it was inappropriate. His current description of his position is in keeping with his overall positions on "State's Rights."
We, and Candidate Robinson, need to keep in mind that there are 12 states with "Dream Act" legislation on the books and 11 States with such legislation in process. In terms of other aspects of the illegal immigration issue, we have a few States who would partner with federal law such as Arizona and Alabama and others that are essentially sanctuaries such as California, Illinois and Maryland. Many of the rest are somewhere in between. Governor Perry has advised, wisely, that there is a need to develop a thoughtful policy. The Simpson-Mazzoli provisions currently in place clearly lack a universal respect and support.
I have been researching the records of the Presidential candidates I have been considering and failed to find anything I could describe as "Governor Perry's amnesty policy." If Mr. Robinson can produce current documentation on this score, he really needs to.
Occam's Tool| 9.29.11 @ 8:32PM
I went to TCU and paid out of state tuition to UTMB for medical school. I'm an American, born and bred in Chicago.
My two children are Hispanics adopted legally from Guatemala (whose citizens are treated like crap by bigoted Mexicans) who are now legal US Citizens, everything done legally (and expensively) every step of the goshdarned way.
SCREW the DAMN DREAM Act. Those kids and their parents need deporting, not scholarships.
Occam's Tool| 9.29.11 @ 8:34PM
I spent EIGHT YEARS in Texas and couldn't get State residency because I was going to University and Medical School. I would vote for Perry against Obama, but he's dead wrong on this one.
Sean| 9.29.11 @ 11:53PM
Perry being tough on illegals is a charade. His support of the Dream Act just one part of his coddling of illegal immigrants. What part of illegal does Perry not get?
NotPropagandized| 9.30.11 @ 1:22AM
I think Perry's finished because of the unfair and simpleton view of his handling the border in Texas. It's tough to be more conservative than a Texas conservative and even they know the complexities of illegals, drug crime, etc etc. They may not even like Perry, but view the unthinking and ignorant-of-Texas criticism as myopic. Yep. 'Ol Rick is finished and US is a lot worse off for it than it could possibly imagine.

It seems to me if you believe in States rights that Texas can give whomever they want in-state tuition. I think Perry has done an outstanding job in Texas as evidenced by his three (?) elections. There is a lot to be said for the Hispanic vote especially in the border states. If he can pull 15-20% of Hispanics from the democrats he would be elected. Other Republican candidates will be lucky to get 5%. I believe Perry is a conservative or he would never have been elected and re-elected in Texas. My 2-cents.
WJ| 9.29.11 @ 6:36PM
Numbers USA riddled Perry's job making performance in their report last week. Most of the new jobs went to, you guessed it, immigrants, legal and illegal.
I can assure you that you have only seen the tip of the iceberg of Perry's open borders ways. Once elected, especially in a second term, he will unleash the dogs attacking Patriots as "nativists", bigots or heartless.
Is he better than Obama? Of course. Does that mean we settle for this clown when we can do better.
Perry's 15 minutes (nationally) are up.
Nite| 9.29.11 @ 10:19PM
Please get your facts straight before slandering Governor Perry. Most of the new jobs did NOT go to low wage people as you indicated. A lot of new businesses moved from CA, and northern states. The property values never crashed like they did in other states. Perry is not for open borders. But why confuse people like you with facts. My guess is that you are one of the many Dems that are going on numerous mostly conservative web sites and trashing Perry. This started before the debates. Obama is scared of Perry. Perry has a resume and Obama only has a teleprompter. I voted for Perry in the last 4 elections and will again. By the way, if he were not conservative, he could not get elected in TX.
Sean| 9.30.11 @ 12:03AM
George Bush got elected in Texas so did Kay Bailey and Ann Richardson. California has open carry gun laws Texas does not.
About 80% of new jobs went to immigrants 90% of those illegals. On top of that a bunch of jobs were government jobs.
Property in Texas has always been pretty cheap, but property values have also declined in Texas by a lot. If you live in Williamson county you should contest your property taxes as the county is over valuing your house. Everyone I know that contests is getting their taxes cut by close to 500 dollars on average.

I have voted for Perry each time he has been up.
He grew a pair in 2009 and he stepped up.
Governor Perry is my first choice unless Sarah steps in. see my blog

Bob K.| 9.29.11 @ 7:02PM
Ken,
There is a flip side to your statement. Why did you vote for him prior to 2009 before "He grew a pair.........?" Why did anyone vote for him if this was the case?
Jake| 9.29.11 @ 7:26PM
I saw where Herb Cain , as Palin calls him , is even slamming Rick Perry as being soft on the border.
Cain said he would not vote for Perry in the general because of that .
Perhaps Herb was thinking of pizza
and missed Governor Perry's discussions during the last three debates on
how he has actually dealt with the real Texas problem of
border security.
To claim he is soft is ridiculous and a lie.
Cain has only had to deal with whether they use canned or real mushrooms on the pizza.
Have no idea what this particular hothead and loud mouth has ever done other than be
a perpetual losing candidate
for most offices in North Carolina since the 1990s.
Sean| 9.30.11 @ 12:10AM
Herman Cain is a 100 times better than Al Gore's former campaign manager. Now everyone knows why Perry refuses to debate. He can barely put to coherent sentences together.
Perry=Texas Dream Act, North American Union, Trans Texas Corridor, SPP, Bildeburg attendee( Global government pushers), Toll Roads, and Nanny State government.
Sandy| 9.30.11 @ 8:16AM
Sean- You need to look more closely into Cain's immigration speeches and comments. Check his speech and debate answers at NumbersUSA.com. His positions have been almost identical to Perry's. Cain knows he doesn't have much of a shot at winning, but wants to be in the next admin., so he is sucking up to who he believes will win, Romney.
There is absolutely no reason at all for any candidate to say in public that they won't support the nomionee, who ever it is. I'm sorry I ever sent Cain money.
Nite| 9.29.11 @ 10:21PM
The candidate making those comments about Perry was obviously getting his information from the media. He needs to apologize.
Politicalgal1| 9.29.11 @ 10:58PM
Perry a RINO? How funny. Discalced conservative as Governor, balanced budget by cutting spending, hmmm. Marco Rubio, one of the conservative darlings, pushed for instate tuition for illegals while a Florida legislator. Texas legislature overwhelmingly passed instate tuition TEN years ago. A magnet to attract illegals? Hardly--only 1 percent attending college by paying for their own college tuition.
NotPropagandized| 9.30.11 @ 1:38AM
Liberals in Texas are LTAO at all these idiotic comments about Perry being a liberal or soft on illegals, etc, etc, blah, blah. Perry should just whisper to himself, "f 'em" and come back home. As he said years ago, TxGuv is best job. WashDC sucks out loud. What a damn mess. Looks like it always will be and it'll take down the country.
NotPropagandized| 9.30.11 @ 1:43AM
"Robinson, who has run for Congress unsuccessfully before, is a conservative firebrand."
"Firebrand"? How about "Jerk".
Sounds like he's planning on TeaParty pulling him through this time. They better look around a little more and see if they can find a new and impr0ved Black Jesse.
Peggy| 10.8.11 @ 8:38AM
Why does everyone act like Rick Perry is the only one doing this when eleven other states are doing the same thing and many other states are considering it, its not like Rick Perry is the only one who thinks learning beats a drag on the states economy.
