In response to Aaron Goldstein’s post,
I approach this topic from the perspective of a reporter. If I’m
interviewing a candidate who supports same-sex marriage
legalization, I wouldn’t ask, “Why are you undercutting marriage by
advocating pro-homosexual policies?” It isn’t a fair question, and
it’s loaded with bias.
And if I asked that question at a Democratic presidential
debate, I would have every expectation of getting booed.
Of course, Stephen Hill (the soldier serving in Iraq) isn’t
obligated to ask a fairly worded question. But my original point
was that the audience’s visceral reaction was more to the
phraseology of the question than to the fact that an openly
homosexual soldier asked it. Yet the narrative became that a
Republican audience booed the soldier himself.
As to the specifics of the DADT policy, many African-Americans I
speak with bristle at the Left’s frequent comparison of homosexual
rights to the struggle for racial equality. One involves behavior,
the other intrinsic characteristics obvious to the naked eye. To
equate a man having sex with a man to being black is a stretch.

Again, garbage. We're not talking about a man having sex with a man; we're talking about a man who happens to be a homosexual.
We're talking about whether the mere fact that someone is of homosexual orientation should be a reason to be discriminated against by not being allowed to serve with the military. You and Santorum say it should be. I disagree.
And Santorum can't have it both ways. Either gays do pose a threat to unit cohesion, discipline, morale, and good order, in which case all gays, including those currently serving openly with the military (including Steven Hill) should be kicked out of the military, or they do not, in which case they should be left alone.

Um...if you're not having sex, you're just a celibate, and "orientation" is irrelevant. If you want to MAKE it relevant, it means you're pushing an agenda. An agenda that most Americans find repugnant, because--well--it is.
A straight who has enormous numbers of partners, engages in unsafe activity, etc., is considered emotionally disturbed. For a homosexual, these are just "lifestyle choices."
Homosexuals DO pose a threat to unit cohesion, discipline, morale, and good order. I've seen it with my own eyes.
Santorum isn't saying "kick 'em all out" because then gay-rights hysterics like you would start ranting about "witch hunts." You pro-gay types HATE reasoned discourse. So you descend to name-calling and bashing your opponents with phony arguments.

I for one, simply do not believe so called "gays" belong in the armed forces, just like "gay" troop leaders do not belong in the Boy (Cub) Scouts. They are ill-suited.
They are obsessed with their sexuality and a distraction to unit cohesion. Period.
Everything else is liberal-progressive crap.

How exactly is saying I'm married and this is my spouse sex obsessed?

MeghanKelly gave Santorum an opportunity to answer this criticism and he totally missed the opportunity to call it correctly, that the audience disagreed with the tenor of the question and was not concerned with besmirching the soldier. Santorum will not rise significantly in the polls because a lot of people don't like his attitude and there's some justification for it because he does not control his temperment well.

It is very true that gayness is not at all comparable to race; it's comparable to autism or Aspergers; even the mentally retarded for all I care how you put it. In the same tiny percentage, and oddly, the same ratio between boys and girls: 5 or 6 gay guys for every 2 lesbians.
We are simply wired differently; there are even small studies now that show we react differently to certain medicines. We do not see things the way straight guys see them. We don't have the violent rages either. And I don't go around and say "Hi, I'm gay..." to some new person; though I might very well say, after judging the situation; "Hi, this is my boyfriend Michael."
Nor are we moral reprobates out to destroy or wreck anything; I'm a piano player, whose brother in law died in 9/11, and I'm the uncle to his kids, and my family loves me and has dealt with me since I was 10 or 11 and showing obvious signs of gayness. (climbing up on life guard stands repeatedly was a clue, I assure you.) Then I went on to own some businesses, pay my taxes, and write a book with my father and one for my mother (amazon, hlavac ain't hard to find.) And other than that, a very great danger to hetero families nationwide, ahem.
And we keep telling -- we are born this way -- we feel/know this in such a deep manner that nothing under the sun is going to change us. Nor do we want anyone of you to change; but to live peace, as I have done, and loved my neighbor as I love myself.
We are though, some what lousy at relationships -- could be the autism/asperger thing -- or, just maybe, because in the 1960s when I came to this realization I was different -- there were no fairy tales for fairies. Though I have been reading this publication for 35 years, and agree with so much here; but on the gay thing; some of you all still need a lesson.
I keep trying to teach you our motto: Don't tread on us either.

It's not legitimate; its a sexually, emotionally immature choice. Homosexuals are sex obsessed, they are penis obsessed.
You should not be imprisoned; but that also means you should not have access to every avenue in life. You are by defintion, a misfit, in the truest sense of the word.
Homosexuals are ill suited for service in the armed forces. They are ill suited to be Boy (Girl) Scout leaders. There are other examples.
ntah8tr| 9.28.11 @ 10:00AM
I really don't think lesbians are "penis obsessed". Gays and Lesbians have risen to some of the highest ranks in the armed forces and now they don't have to lie about who they are. Being able to tell the truth is not a "special priviledge".
