Texas Governor Rick Perry has to come out swinging against Mitt Romney and put him on the defensive in tonight's Fox News/Google GOP Debate in Orlando.

With this in mind, I expect that Perry will bring up a report on Romneycare recently released by the Beacon Hill Institute, a libertarian think think based here in Boston. The report concluded that Romneycare cost Massachusetts 18,000 jobs.

Romney will, of course, counter that health care premiums were higher before the implementation of Romneycare. He's been saying that for some time now. Perry could then point out that health care premiums in Massachusetts continue not only to be the highest in the nation but that it is growing at a faster rate than anywhere else in the U.S. Romney will counter by blaming current Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, the Democratic controlled legislature and "the connector board" (a.k.a. The Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority). Perry can counter by saying, "I guess the buck doesn't stop with you. Well, this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't set this chain of events into motion."

If Perry plays this right he could land some jabs on Romney and mess up his hair. Until now, nobody has landed any serious punches on Romney.

Gov. Perry's campaign team should read Amy Contrada's book Mitt Romney's Deception: His Stealth Promotion of "Gay Rights" and "Gay Marriage" in Massachusetts. If the Republican electorate were familiar with the contents of this book, opposition to his candidacy would be overwhelming.

What someone must do is reveal Romney for the Eastern, establishmentarian, accomodationist republican that he is. That wing of the party has opposed the Conservative movement since its inception. Remember George Romney and Nelson Rockfeller? Mitt is still his fathers' son.

Romney said he would attempt to repeal Obamacare on his first day in office. I take him at his word, but I must confess, I would feel much better if he'd renounce Romneycare.

As to the debate, I am more interested in learning about their positions on the various issues than I am interested in them attacking each other. Romney seems pretty good-natured and is quick on his feet. If Perry goes after him too hard, he might very well get Bachmann'd.

In fact, I predict it. Perry will be behind Romney nationally next week at this time.

Perry hasn't shown much so far. I agree with Paul McGrath that a week from now Romney will be tied or ahead of the Rickster in national polls. We don't need heat right now, we need competency and we'll beat "the One" easily next November especially with Rubio as his VP. Romney already runs ahead of O in some polls and they aren't doing screens for likely voters yet. Unemployment will be over 9.5% by election day if the stock market's telling us anything.

Nobody cares about either of these turkeys no matter how much the elites push them down our throats. They are both losers even if they win. The only candidates that incite any paasion are Ron Paul and Sarah Palin. Sarah, as of now, isn't running.

Hi Jack in Wi

Remember Sharron Angle and Cristine O'Donnell? (I do, I live in DE and we threw away a guaranted R Senate seat for a witch!) Get real.

Sarah would be a disaster. Paul doesn't have a chance.

Pick between the two and be comfortable with it.

Dr. Ron Paul Moves Up To Second In New Hampshire.

9/21/2011

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has surged among Republican voters in New Hampshire, and Rick Perry is a distant fourth, according to a Suffolk University/7NEWS (WHDH TV) poll of likely voters in New Hampshire’s GOP presidential primary.

Romney has opened up a 27-point lead over his nearest rival in New Hampshire, and pundits may have to rethink predictions of a two-man GOP race between Romney and Perry.
Front-runners gaining on pack

Romney (41 percent) gained 5 points since June, followed by Ron Paul (14 percent), and Jon Huntsman (10 percent). Huntsman and Paul gained 6 percent each since the last poll.

Perry's got serious issues with the Texas version of the Dream Act and the Guardisil dust up. The Texas Corridor "scandal" will also rear it ugly head at some point as well. He could put these problems to rest for good but chooses to hold his cards to his vest and not provided more information than what's minimally necessary. This may or may not work for him. It worked in Texas, Nationwide could be a different story.

On the other hand, his political team is top notch as recent evidence his Zero Obama political ad which was excellent.

The bottom line for me is I am growing more comfortable with either one of these candidates.

Clint| 9.22.11 @ 7:28PM

" Perry has troubled relationship with tea party

Tea Party groups from New Hampshire to Texas are collaborating to criticize Perry's record on immigration, public health and spending and his former affiliation with the Democratic Party.

Austin Tea Party activist Don Zimmerman, like many tea party activists in Texas and New Hampshire, prefer libertarian Rep. Ron Paul in his third presidential bid. Paul, Zimmerman said, is the true tea party favorite.

"Ron Paul pretty much invented the national tea party," said Zimmerman, a member of the Texas State Republican Executive Committee. "It's really unfair for these other candidates to come along and claim to be the tea party favorite. It's almost like it's starting to lose its meaning."

The Tea Party Rebellion Is Here.

Rise Up.
