Texas Governor and GOP presidential hopeful Rick Perry wrote an
op-ed taking the Palestinians to the woodshed for their plans
to seek UN recognition of a Palestinian state. He also admonished
President Obama for distancing himself from Israel while pursuing
engagement with Iran and Syria. While the Obama Administration has
been notable for exerting pressure on Israel, a Perry
Administration would put the pressure where it belongs:
The United States must affirm that the precondition for any
properly negotiated settlement between Israel and the Palestinian
Authority is the formal recognition of the right of Israel to exist
as a Jewish state behind secure borders.
Now I have no illusions that the Palestinian Authority is
prepared to do such a thing. They don’t want to live side by side
in peace with Israel. But if Perry wins the GOP nomination, is
elected President and somehow finds a way to get the Palestinians
to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, it would be the greatest
foreign policy achievement of his presidency. But even if that
doesn’t come to pass, at the very least a Perry Administration
would hold the Palestinians accountable for their actions in a
way the Obama Administration simply won’t.

Perry is a perfectly acceptable candidate in a way Paul is not. He has good views on taxation, cutting government, and appropriate ass kicking of scum.

Like, Ricky Perry giving instate tuitions to illegal aliens, Tool Job?
Occam's Tool| 9.17.11 @ 12:54PM
No, that was moronic. As a guy who paid out of state tuition at UTMB, that fries my beans. But Paul did Jack on that, either.
But he's a LOT better than Paul, and is goinhg to kick his tail in the elections, Clint.
Clint| 9.17.11 @ 4:09PM
Duuuuuuhhhhh !
You're Full Of Crap, Screwball Israel Firster Fanatic, Tool Job.
Dr.Ron Paul,
" No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services."
The Tea Party Rebellion Is Here.

Perry will not beat Ron Paul in the Texas primary. If by some mistake Perry got elected President, he would be a disaster. He would make G. W. Bush, and Obama seem like good rulers. He is as dumb as a stump. there is no way up to half the Republicans will vote for him much less the Independents and Democrats he needs to win.
Oldefarte| 9.17.11 @ 3:04PM
The Israelies are giving IN STATE TUITION in a sense to the Palestineans by the welfaric type jobs Israel companies provide to them [since the Palestineans are too stupid to form their own companies]!!!!!!!!!

Perry looks like another stooge who's loyalty is not to the USA but another country first.Perry is absolutley not going to be President of this country. He and Romney are the dumbest pair the elites have ever put up. They can all go to hell. It is Ron Paul or ruin.

Utter garbage from Israeli lobbyist Aaron Goldstein. In his (and Perry's) fantasy world, Israel can do no wrong and the Palestinians are solely responsible for the current deadlock.
Pressure should be applied to both sides equally, not just to the PA. And BTW, Aaron, what pressure has Obama applied to Israel? Has he threatened to end (or at least cut) US funding for Israel? Has he threatened to stop selling weapons to Israel? Has he threatened to vote for UNSC resolutions condemning Israel? No. He has applied NO pressure on Israel, even though, as polls show, the vast majority of Americans want the US government to do so and believe that the US should back neither side of this conflict. Obama has not managed to halt the construction of Israeli settlements, let alone to get Israel to make any concessions.
Yet, this has not stopped Goldstein from making ridiculous accusations like these:
"Now I have no illusions that the Palestinian Authority is prepared to do such a thing. They don't want to live side by side in peace with Israel."
What proof do you have, Aaron? Who killed PM Rabin? Was it an Israeli or a Palestinian? And why did he do it?
The Palestinians have ALREADY recognized Israel's right to exist, in the Oslo Accords. Yet, they are still denied the right of every nation - the right to their own state.
Oh, and BTW, Aaron, I'm sure you've already obtained a plea bargain with the DOJ? You are lobbying illegally for a foreign state, and the DOJ's database of lobbyists for foreign states doesn't mention you, so I guess you're not registered, in which case you'll be punished with a prison sentence of 5 years.
Occam's Tool| 9.17.11 @ 12:55PM
Tjhe Palestinians have not recognized Israel, and are in the process of denying and ripping down the Oslo accords. What part of Hamas don't you understand, silly man.
Let me know when ANY pressure is applied to the palis. I'll wait.

If that idiot could transfer Israel's foreign aid to ANY Arab country, he would do so [but since the Republicans will not allow his to do same, he's stalemated politically]. The Palestineans do not have a financial pot to pee into, due to their typical stupidity. The only source of income that they have is from working for Israel companies that employ them mercifully. Also, when discussing the Dof J, maybe you should also recognize the legal corruption that has been established within its ranks that sues individual states over their legally enacted immigration laws, that fails to finalize voter intimidation lawsuits for racially biased purposes, whose director was instramental in issuing illegal pardons under a previous Democratic regime, etc !!!!!!!!!!!!!

End all foreign aid old timer. Why the hell do we care if there is a Jewish state? The Jews have worked for centuries to get rid of Christian states. They have mostly succeeded. Aid to Israel is nothing but an unconstitutional religious subsidy of crazy zionists terrorists. It also fullfills the lunacy of the Christian Zionists like John Hagee.

Your right. Israel's right to exist is recognized in the Oslo accords. So is Palistine's. The lunatics here want a world war with us doing the fighting and dying so that some crazed 19th century theology can be carried out.

Fat chances on all three: Palestine agreeing; Perry getting them to agree; or Perry holding them accountable!

We ( the US ) would have saved a lot of time and money if we ( the US ) stated outright that our support for a Palestinian State was contingent upon they ( the PLO or who ever ) recognize Israel as a Jewish State. But, the snorrrring goes on and we spend more money uselessly and needlessly.

There Governor Perry goes again; showing leadership and displaying Presidential perspective! Gosh, first sloganizing LIBERALISM by calling it a PONZI; and now taking a stand to support the ONLY democracy in the Middle East, our friend, Israel. Considering our current Commander In Chief's inviting rhetoric for full scale assault on OUR FRIEND over the last three years, I thank Governor Perry for concisely summarizing our commitment to these people who the Nazis tried to exterminate, and who their current neighbors threaten to do the same, as part of their National policies. Now, as Israel's enemies use Obama's policies as a shield , we will witness massive bloodshed in the Middle East as the Arabs once again think they can exterminate Israel once and for all. Thanks goodness Governor Perry is speaking up. Looks purty Presidential to me.

No doubt Perry [or any other Republican president] would formulate many policies that were pro-American, instead of the opposite [which occurs daily from this administration]. Whatever Republican wins in November of next year will be a reversal back to traditional American value systems and away from the domestic terrorism occurring today!!!!!

To old stinkpot: The Jews gave us Socialism, Communism, the Atomic bomb, radical, racist zionism. AIPAC, The ADL, the ACLU, SPLC, The Samson Option, and numerous bad things. I could care less what happens to Israel. Let the greatest welfare queen in the history of the world pay for itself and defend itself. Israel has never been worth one drop of American blood or one American dollar. The Muslims and the Jews deserve each other. But if I had to put them both on a scale, the Muslims have cost me a lot less. The Israeli's have up to 600 atomic weapons. They have a huge military. They moved into a neighborhood and stole the place. Now they want to steal everything of the small amout left. Why do you think that most of the world hates Israel and all it stands for?
CountryClassKook| 9.19.11 @ 11:34AM
So you're a proud anti-Semite, then? You would cast aside a great ally to sate your bloodlust against the Jews? Should those of us who support Israel GTFO, or just where an armband? Do you fantasize about a new Holocaust? If Ron Paul were to be elected, how soon after should we declare them an enemy, and ally ourselves with the Muslim states?
jgo| 9.18.11 @ 2:49PM
The Palestinians should withdraw their occupational forces from Jerusalem and the rest of Israel. It would be totally reasonable to require them to withdraw at least 20 miles east of the Jordan river, but so long as they pull back from the West bank and stop encroaching from the north, I'm sure the Israeli people would generously leave them those concessions.
Perry also tried to push the SPP/NAFTA super-highway scam over the objections of the Texas legislature, continues to resist secure borders, to favor amnesty for illegal aliens, and to add even more to the already hideously excessive numbers of guest-work (and student) visas. He's simply not an acceptable candidate.
And Romney is not much better.
There are big differences between the foreign adventurists we have had, the non-interventionists like Paul, and the isolationists.
I'd take Bachmann, Cain, Palin or Paul over andy of the bozos who got us into this bizarre global political, financial and economic position.
