The Spectacle Blog

I thank Shawn Macomber for drawing our attention to Andrew Sullivan's daily frothing. In a nutshell, Sullivan tells us that Obama had better win or else there's going to be a civil war.

A civil war? Talk about being a poor sport. I guess Sullivan doesn't give Obama supporters a lot of credit. Frankly, I hope Obama supporters can do better than that if things don't go their way. Besides, even if Obama were to lose in 2012, it would not shock me in the least if he were to run again in 2016 or 2020. He still a relatively young man. But the lefties are not a patient lot.

So on that score, if Obama is not re-elected next year, it wouldn't surprise if some violence on their part were to break out. Prior to the 2008 election, I wrote about such a possibility if Obama weren't elected.

This should tell you all you need to know about which side of the political spectrum is composed of violent, ignorant thugs. I predict riots when he's ousted even if it's a landslide election.

This is porabably a forecast of things to come. The speculation is actually to be taken as a veiled threat of same. The unions, ACORN, SEIU, La Raza and others of the entitlement industry will in fact tell their followers ( and may even organize riots) that the evil GOP intends to starve them all. Those who have been indoctrinated to believe they have a claim on other people's money will resist their loss of handouts. Liberty is not their priority, power is.

My concern is not the violence, as we have always had some violence in the US, but how the authorities react to this violence. I was around in the 60's when all the demonstrations, riots and crime took place and was astounded at how the authorities basically did nothing. As a result we got more riots, more crime and more problems.

Big deal. Isn't this the crowd that's so opposed to gun ownership? A word of advice, Lefty, don't bring your whiny insurrection anywhere near me.

Some of the news networks put this on the air after Bush was reelected that liberals wanted to secede.

They better not push their luck talking like this, the numbers for them don't add up too well. The Right is everywhere, the Left in general is stuck in Big Cities. So turn off the water, and the power, control the Highways leading out, and then just wait, when they get hungry and cold they'll have to venture out. And then?

Talk of Civil War is just stupid, but if they want it, we can bring it, and in the end, at least we'll be able to cut down on our Carbon Footprint!! Oh yeah, we won't care about that anymore either, because Al Gore will be gone by then too!!;^)

I agree. If it ever came to a civil war (and I hope it never does), the cities would be in a terrible tactical situation. Water, food, energy, it all comes from the hinterlands. Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virgina have a lot of coal fired power plants (which Obama hates), but the surplus is shipped east.

I no longer doubt that there are those who plan to riot if they don't get their way. To deal with people like this, we should bring back an old remedy - banishment from the nation. There are some uncivilized people who should be relocated to a country more similar to their values. There are several places in the world where the government has broken down and anarchy reigns, such as Somalia. We could send our committed-troublemakers there.

Robert| 9.13.11 @ 2:49PM

These liberal people are mentally unstable. They may riot all they want to in the big cities, and the sheeple will take it. Just try that elsewhere and you'll see how far that goes.

Ben| 9.13.11 @ 2:51PM

Civil war? How quickly things change for the Left. Remember this website from 2008 (http://www.zefrank.com/from52to48withlove/) that popped up shortly after the election? It was an effort by Obama supporters to "bridge the divide" between red and blue states after their guy one (although, it comes across a bit like "spiking the football"). It shows the double standard that liberals apply to themselves. They expect conservatives to be civil and display unity around their candidates who are elected. If their guy loses, though, watch out.

DC| 9.13.11 @ 3:14PM

Echoing LLL, above, there is no way the leftists can mobilize enough actual force to cause most people in America any serious trouble. Most non-leftists are armed to the teeth and even before November 2008, were well-prepared in every way to battle the latter-day Zimbabwean rioters, whom we quite reasonably thought might "celebrate" the coronation of their Duce Nero by taking what they believe (and what their leaders have told them for generations) that they are "entitled" to.
No non-leftist will be any less prepared for whatever outcome occurs in Nov. 2012. If there's serious civil unrest, I like our odds, a lot. So, SEIU, Acorn, and other brainless bagmen for the socialist international: bring it on. See how far you get outside of the deep blue cities, before you're cut down in the tens of thousands by American citizens defending their families, homes and property. And whom do you think the military (other than the federal cops) would side with?
Sullivan and other whining pseudo-tough guys haven't thought this one through at all.
Ammo prices are pretty good right now, by the way--rising but still below where they were a few years ago, when there were serious shortages.

steve| 9.13.11 @ 3:33PM

Collectivists can't secede--whose money would they spend?

Ken (Old Texican)| 9.13.11 @ 4:17PM

Aaron,
lately you have truly been on the ball...with your finger on the pulse of America.
Thank you.
As our contributing Sergeant observed above, lefties and poverts can riot to their heart's content if they lose.... but not in my yard.

Conversely, if we producers "lose" we must...MUST... simply sit down on "vacation".

Our free-market free-society cannot survive four more years of this absolute tyranny of power grabs. If we sit down...the poverts don't eat. It is not very complicated.

Yeah, I'm a Christian. To make a pun, that scares the bejeezus out of the communists, (pardon the shorthand).
I truly want to express my thanks for you linking that article by Sullivan. We must not forget the thinking of our opposition.

In my own company, we have simply "hunkered down" already.....but we cannot survive four more years of poverts running our government.
