I agree with Quin's analysis for the most part, especially regarding Rick Santorum. I disagree somewhat with his observations on Romney. I thought he appeared solid. He seems to be more confrontational both with fellow debaters and town hall attendees. This is exactly what he needs to and not be tempted to pander to every voter and voting block so as shake his phony image. He almost got in one townhaller's face several weeks back which I found refreshing. A new-found respect as far as I'm concerned.

His money line ( political gold in my book) was not giving Rick Perry credit for Texas' booming economy but instead as a luck poker who was dealt 4 aces. He effectively threw the Texas lexicon back in his face and in a nice sort of way. Brilliant in my opinion.

Before the debate, I leaned in Perry's direction but after I'm tilting toward Romney for the first time. If anything because of his political smarts.

You are certainly one tough internet hombre.

WilliamR| 9.13.11 @ 8:08PM

Hillyer, face it you don't know what you're talking about. I'm embarrassed for the American Spectator that they even give you space.

"“On no other foreign policy issue since the Cold War’s end has the truth been so easy to establish on the basis of hard facts but so hard for Americans to see … that Muslim hatred is motivated by U.S. interventionism more than any other factor… Our growing number of Islamist enemies are motivated to attack us because of what the U.S. government does in the Muslim world and not because of how Americans live and think here at home.”----Michael Scheuer they guy the CIA put in charge of fighting Osama bin Laden.

Methinks he knows a hell of a lot more than you or that lightweight Rick Insanitorium.

Oldefarte| 9.13.11 @ 9:45PM

Then why oh genius one was Spain attacked, why is the Afganastan government in Kabul now under attack, why was Salman Rusdie chased into hiding for writing his book, why are Muslim non-believers attacked/beheaded, why were American contractors rebuilding in Iraq killed/behedded/hung from a bridge, why did a Muslim officer/doctor in the American Army assinate/kill 20 military members at Ft Hood Texas, why are Muslim women/girls tortored/killed for betraying their Muslim faith, etc? Why? For the same reasons why the twin towers were attacked on 9/11/01 and 3000 innocent Americans massacred by 20 radicalized Muslim terrorists using 4 airliners as fuel loaded missles. With that in mind[and I hope you enjoyed our recent anniversary memorials of 9/11/01], you can GTH and stay there [and take the rest of your Paulista moronic friends with you, please]!!!!!!!

The Ron Paul Neo Lib| 9.13.11 @ 10:14PM

Spain was once in Muslim hands and must return. It was an act of provocation for those Spaniards to free themselves. bin Laden talked about this. There is really nothing to see in all your examples. It is jews er neocons that caused it all. Jews in India have been a particular problem as well as Africa or really wherever you find Muslims. It is jews er neocons that explain everything. Well it is time for my Lithium again. Michael Scheuer explained why Muslims are really nice folk and really just wonderful except in very recent history when Americans made them do very bad things. Get with it. Don't you want to be smart like William R?

William R| 9.14.11 @ 12:25AM

You sound like a bigger loser than that idiot Jeffrey Lord.

Oldefarte| 9.14.11 @ 1:23PM

RPNL: Please learn how to write properly, using capital letters, punctuation etc where needed, okay???????

William R| 9.13.11 @ 11:13PM

Why was Spain attacked??? Simple they had troops in Iraq . They were very involved in the Iraq invasion.

Oldefarte| 9.14.11 @ 1:24PM

No, it had nothing to do with their radical Muslim religion and their desire to kill all non-believers of same, did it? What an idiot!!!!!!!!

Clint| 9.13.11 @ 10:44PM

Dr.Ron Paul's Foreign Policy Advisor Michael Scheuer, Former CIA Chief of The bin Laden Unit.
" On Iran, The President Should,
3.) Call in Israel's ambassador to the United States and tell him that we understand that Israel believes Iran is a threat to its survival, and that we agree that Israel has every right to defend itself. If Israel believes it must go to war with Iran, then so be it. But also tell the ambassador that if Israel attacks Iran, the U.S. administration will declare U.S. neutrality in the war and immediately cut off military and financial support to all combatants in the war.

4.) Speak to the American people and tell them to expect to be brutally propagandized by U.S. citizen Israel-Firsters through AIPAC, their ubiquitous media shills, and the men and women they own in the U.S. Congress and federal bureaucracy. Urge Americans to ignore this effort by U.S. Israel-Firsters to get them to send their soldier-children to fight in a religious war in which the U.S. has no genuine national interest at stake, and in which U.S. participation would further bankrupt the country, require the reintroduction of conscription, and put America at war with all of the Muslim world -- Shia and Sunni -- for the foreseeable future."

The Tea Party Rebellion Is Here.

Oldefarte| 9.14.11 @ 1:32PM

"...put America at war with all of the Muslim world -- Shia and Sunni -- for the foreseeable future." Damn, and I thought that we already were at war with them. Excrement, 9/11/01 apparently never happened, huh? The USS Cole was never bombed and 20 American sailors lost their lives from same, huh? The WTC is still standing and those two beams of light are just a mirage, huh? FLIGHT 93 was a complete work of fiction by the conservative Hollywood, huh? Daniel Pearl is still alive and vacationing in Europe, huh? The American contractors working in Iraq were not killed, beheaded and hung from a bridge, huh? Clintorous and his PAULISTAS are all brilliant, huh????????????

WJ| 9.14.11 @ 8:35AM

You seem to have forgotten that Israel is the 51st US state and it is therefore required that the US go to war to protect it's interests regardless of American interests. And if US forces are attacked by Israeli forces as happened in 1967 , the USS Liberty , US forces are not allowed to defend themselves.

Oldefarte| 9.14.11 @ 1:47PM

Tell the GD truth, please: '.....Allegations of military support from the U.S., UK and Soviet UnionThere have been a number of allegations of direct military support of Israel during the war by the U.S. and the UK, including the supply of equipment (despite an embargo) and the participation of U.S. forces in the conflict.[101][102][103][104][105] Many of these allegations have been disputed and it has been claimed that some were given currency in the Arab world to explain the Arab defeat.[106] It has also been claimed that the Soviet Union, in support of its Arab allies, used its naval strength in the Mediterranean to act as a major restraint on the U.S. Navy.[107][108]The USS Liberty incidentOn June 8, 1967 USS Liberty, a United States Navy electronic intelligence vessel sailing 13 nautical miles (24 km) off Arish (just outside Egypt's territorial waters), was attacked by Israeli jets and torpedo boats, nearly sinking the ship, killing 34 sailors and wounding 171. Israel said the attack was a case of mistaken identity, and that the ship had been misidentified as the Egyptian vessel El Quseir. Israel apologized for the mistake, and paid compensation to the victims or their families, and to the United States for damage to the ship. After an investigation, the U.S. accepted the explanation that the incident was friendly fire and the issue was closed by the exchange of diplomatic notes in 1987.....'

All candidates have defects. I would not consider Ron Paul or John Huntsman. I think the choice will be the voters and it will be determined by several facts which these debates help to brig out:

Who is best under pressure, who is most articulate, who has the best message and thus who do we support and who can beat Obama.
The worst mistake is for our side to kill off our
own candidates.
