Krauthammer is, as usual, insightful. The reaction to 9-11 arguably could have included the confiscation of national assets of and an end to any foreign aid to those countries in which celebrations of the attack took place. We might even ask why those cities do not themselves resemble "ground zero". None of that would have been overreaction to the attack. In fear and victimhood we made ourselves, rather than our enemies, uncomfortable. To late at this remove to change that, but time to reconsider our reaction to the next attacks.
