Wow! What a vile thing AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka wrote with regard to the tenth anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001. He accuses the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove and "wealthy CEOs" of opening "the doors to hate." This, folks, is the Left's idea of civility.

So I guess this means Jay Carney is going to tell Jake Tapper and the White House Press Corps that Trumka "speaks for himself, he speaks for the labor movement, the AFL-CIO."

But given how Trumka himself has bragged about his daily access to the Obama White House, that explanation just won't cut it.

This disgusting man and his loathsome comrades have declared war on the American public.

I say we take them up on it.

All trade and public unions must be destroyed.

Anthony| 9.9.11 @ 9:44PM

All trade and public unions must be destroyd? We aren't Red China yet. If you don't like unions, fine, but let's not become commies. Trumka might not be Walesa, but in the USA we still believe in freedom.

Bob Grant| 9.9.11 @ 10:16PM

Unions both private and public have turned cities such as Detroit into ghost towns and states such as California into bankrupt cesspools respectively.

They are really, really good at killing the golden goose and nothing more.

Eliminate unions, allow workers to individually negotiate their compensation, and watch the economy boom.

Bob K.| 9.10.11 @ 11:40PM

Bob,
It takes two sides to negotiate contracts like these. Management on one side; Labor on the other side. They both bear part of the blame for the decline of the US automobile industry and for turning California into a 3rd world country. The voters also had a say in the decay of Detroit as they also have in California.

And Labor Law is so firmly established that the Courts at all levels will not allow the elimination of Unions. There is no need to eliminate them as they are dying out. Only Public Unions are effective and only because they live off the largesse given to them by the politicians we elect in return for the largesse they give to them during elections.

Jocon307| 9.9.11 @ 11:45PM

You are very, very confused about Communism.

Jocon307| 9.9.11 @ 11:46PM

Obviously, my second comment was to Anthony, not Bob Grant.

John Navratil| 9.10.11 @ 8:32AM

Anthony,

I'll meet you half-way. How about all public sector trade unions. You know, the ones where the tax payer doesn't have a representative at the bargaining table but pays the bill anyway. The ones where there is no competitive private sector job against which to compare wages to see if they are priced correctly. The ones which will shut down government when they don't get their way. Let's begin with that one.

Well, I guess that would mean you would have to go more than half way as that's the only sector in which unions are going. However, if it keeps up, will WILL be Red China.

Anthony| 9.10.11 @ 10:07AM

There is a good argument to be made against public sector unions, but to destroy all unions would be an assualt on freedom in my opinion. The only country I know of that outlaws unions is Red China and I think they're still commies, unless jocon307 knows something I don't.

Sean| 9.11.11 @ 7:09PM

When the management of my agency was willing to negotiate raises, the compared the salaries of people working my job in the private sector with mine and found that I was underpaid. That was 4 years ago, there have been no raises of any kind to employees, other than management . During that time, my caseload doubled. While I am forced to pay union dues, I despise the union. However, I am really tired of being called lazy and overpaid by people who are just quoting Sean Hannity. I earn my pay, everyday.

beebop| 9.10.11 @ 8:51AM

I am more frightened by a rally of union workers than I am by a foreign intrustion -- excepting what occurs daily on the borders between this nation and Mexico. They are "wee-weed up" by the garbage that comes out of the mouths of their leadership and (see Washington long shoreman) nothing, absolutely NOTHING is beyond their madness.

Bob Grant| 9.10.11 @ 9:30AM

Bring on the strikes!...the picket lines!....the intimidation!

I will firmly stand 100% behind all right-to-work "scabs".

W| 9.11.11 @ 12:46PM

beebop.
I was a member of a labor union, and in my profession have dealt with unions and union members for a long time.
The overwhelming majority of union members are good, hardworking, patriotic people. Most have served in the military, and many of the unionized police, firefighters, corrections guards, and others still serve in the reserves. Most of the teachers I have dealt with are hardworking and dedicated.

The union officials, though, are a different story. They are removed from the membership with fancy offices on K street in DC, making over $500.000 per year with big expense accounts, and spending most of their time playing golf at Burning Tree. They hang around with the Dem politicians who use them for the members' money as political contributions. The elections for union officials are a joke. There is usually one slate running with the people in power counting the votes. It makes Chicago look clean and is closer to Iran.

Trumka and Hoffa are the worst. But don't be afraid of the members.

beebop| 9.11.11 @ 2:52PM

The membership is responsible for their leadership. If they disagree they should speak up. Allowing a segment of their membership to threaten to "take out" fellow Americans is worse than those who stayed silent while the Nazi's took over. Much worse.

W| 9.11.11 @ 4:12PM

Are the US citizens responsible for Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Rangel, Schumer, and the rest of the gang?

beebop| 9.11.11 @ 6:37PM

Those who voted FOR them are responsible, yes. When you have a captured group (union membership) whose dues are withheld from their paychecks and sent directly to the unions who are then speaking about "taking out" fellow Americans, I feel that membership is responsible -- and responsible for making talk like that STOP or we will see more of the long shoreman situations.

Paul McGrath| 9.9.11 @ 11:07PM

The election is fourteen months away. It's going to be very, very ugly.

irish19| 9.9.11 @ 11:25PM

Yes, it is.

beebop| 9.10.11 @ 8:54AM

It could only get worse if 0bama is primaried. They were merciless to those who didn't bow down in front of their inept candidate and they would sharpen their weapons on those who had the audacity to do it again. The democrat party is doomed. They will not survive in their current ideation past the day after the defeat at the polls because they simply have lost their way these past four years.

Bob Grant| 9.10.11 @ 9:33AM

True. However, we know exactly what their game plan will be so be ready.

Timothy L. Pennell| 9.10.11 @ 6:53AM

We need to TAKE OUT this Son of a Bitch, and get back to an America where WE THE PEOPLE, belong!

Pecos Pete| 9.10.11 @ 9:12AM

If it weren't for the confiscation of union dues from their members FOR political contributions there wouldn't be any unions remaining in the USA, except for those that actually performed their social responsibilities for their members.

Public employee unions should be outlawed even if there is some validity to their existence. Since it is unlikely that public employee unions will/can be outlawed, at the bare minimum they should NOT be allowed to make political contributions.

All states should be "right to work states" otherwise California and Illinois will be the the pattern for those states where freedom of choice does not exist.

bill| 9.10.11 @ 3:24PM

Trumpa is Polish for d**khead. What an embarrassment for a political supporter!

Wayne| 9.10.11 @ 4:38PM

The Union is the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party is the union. Get rid of one and you got rid of the other. We need to do two things:
1. Defeat Obama and the Dems badly in 2012.
2. Get the Unions out of all government jobs. Take away their representation which is meaningless except to raise money for the Democratic Party.

Richard Baker| 9.10.11 @ 5:10PM

Trumka is the guy who as head of the United Mine Workers thought that violence in the coal country for union objectives was ok. Ask this fat, slob about union workers shooting at the plants with hunting rifles when on strike.

Marc Jeric| 9.11.11 @ 12:40AM

Given time every union will fall into the hands of communist thugs. In every industry in which they "work" that industry will eventually go bankrupt or will outsource: see examples of steel, automobile, textile, electronics, apparel... As for government employees unions - these are by definition criminal conspiracies against the people and should therefore be routinely prosecuted under the RICO Act laws. Postal Service and Amtrak are bankrupt; our education has fallen to the level of Zimbabwe.

Luis Stecca| 9.11.11 @ 2:45AM

I've been a card-carrying member of the AFL-CIO
for almost 32 years now, and here is my message to Richard Trumka - Screw you, you fat communist basstard !! I ain't voting for Obama... and niether are the rest of the brothers and sisters
down here at 21 ENGINE

beebop| 9.11.11 @ 8:09AM

I would like to respectfully suggest that rather than link to an appalling article put up on the website of the AFLCIO, you had cut and pasted it here. I feel unclean having visited that site and it disturbs me to think that they now can link to me. Please give some thought to not taking us to other websites ....

Oldefarte| 9.11.11 @ 10:55AM

Trumpka, Hoffa etc speak for the anti-American, Anti capitalistic, anti-tea party movement, Chicago Way elements that now dominate the Democratic Party's agenda. It's simply amazing that post 9/11/01, we have allowed this filty bunch of stupid unionists to even exist in this country [labor unions should simply be outlawed, as the only purpose they serve is their own]. Too bad they can't card-check the Clintous Paulistas and collectively jump off of a bridge somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
