Worst. Moderators. Ever.

Brian Williams is absolutely out for blood with "gotcha" questions. John Harris is obsessed with Romney and Perry. Romney and Perry. Petty and Romney. Romney and Perry. It's obscene.

Cain, Santorum and Gingrich are giving excellent, thoughtful, knowledgeable, clear answers -- when they get a chance.  But they get very few chances. And heck, I've made clear that Gingrich has entirely turned me off as a candidate long ago. But the man was a historically significant Speaker of the House. He deserves more respect, and time, than he is getting. Rick Santorum was the third ranking Republican in the Senate and authored several of the more significant pieces of legislation, from economics to foreign affairs to social issues, that actually passed in the decade and a half he served in office. He deserves far more time. And so on.

This is horrible.

Perry sounds like an Idiot on Climate Change.

beebop| 9.8.11 @ 5:16AM

I wouldn't know because I was so disgusted after the Telemundo question that I turned the damn thing off. You would think that on the odd chance that one of the individuals on stage last night will be our next CIC they would have shown more interest in the answers versus the questions they were posing.

USA & Israel, friends forever.| 9.7.11 @ 9:43PM

Now Gingrich chimes in on the audit the fed gambit that I thought Paul owned. Is this a catchy mental disease?

Clint| 9.7.11 @ 10:49PM

"Allowing the Fed to operate our nation's monetary system in almost complete secrecy leads to abuse, inflation, and a lower quality of life for every American."

Kingofthenet| 9.7.11 @ 9:46PM

Perry sounds like an Idiot on Capital Punishment.

What's the problem? We're talking about KILLERS. MURDERERS. We're talking about VENGENCE for the Innocent Victims, who's lives were cut short by a piece of inhuman garbage.
How many CHILD MURDERERS are sitting in prison, getting 3 squares a day, and a cot, as their Victims ROT in the ground, and their Victim's Families lives are DESTROYED?
Some of you keep crying the blues: "Oh, what if there's a mistake?"
So, we shouldn't meet out the PUNISHMENT that they so richly deserve, because we MIGHT get it wrong, once?
I believe in the old saw, that states: "Kill'em all, and let GOD sort it out."
I wonder how some of you crybabies would be talking outta the other side of your Mouths, if it was YOUR KID, that was BRUTALIZED, and TORTURED TO DEATH, by one of these poor babies. Obviously your DRESS is too tight. Or, is it your PANTIES?
You might wanna go by - Queenofthenet, from now on.
Now, go home and put on the Lifetime Channel.
P*ssy.

What's a gotcha question? Shouldn't the president be able to answer tough or even unfair questions?

Simon Templar| 9.8.11 @ 1:12AM

Yeah, maybe we could get your poser shithead in the WH to answer a few questions without he and your ilk calling people racist.

MikeBee| 9.8.11 @ 8:43AM

Dred,
I propose that the Republican candidates must have the same probing questions that were asked of Obama when he was running. His pastor and religion are off limits, his social and political connections are off limits, all tough questions that don't appear on his teleprompter are off limits, etc. Same rules for both sides.

If the press wants to ask real tough questions of Republican candidates -- great! -- go at it. But ask questions of Obama which are equally tough for him.

Margie| 9.8.11 @ 5:46PM

Yeah, really. Hey, wouldn't it have been great if Newt said, "Are you planning to ask Obama the same questions that you're asking us tonight? Or are you going to ask him what kind of ice cream he buys his daughters?"

Paul Zummo| 9.7.11 @ 9:48PM

Kingofthenet sounds like an idiot on everything.

CalMark| 9.7.11 @ 9:50PM

Wow. Well said.

But he is King, ya know. Guess we just have to accept it as Truth. Kinda like the (Leftist) Truths of "Settled Science" on Climate Change and "Every Man on Death Row is Innocent."

Paul Zummo| 9.7.11 @ 9:51PM

Anyway, yes, that debate was a joke. It felt like every other question went to Perry, and about one in three to Romney. Still all candidates save Huntsmen were at least decent.

Kingofthenet| 9.7.11 @ 9:53PM

I can't get enough of Michele's 'Crazy Eye's' they are mesmerizing.

beebop| 9.8.11 @ 5:18AM

Maybe you'd like her better if she was looking down her nose at you? You're probably used to that by now.

Controse| 9.7.11 @ 11:29PM

I don't for the life of me understand why the Republican candidates appear in these forums where Democrat fellow-traveler famous talking heads can take potshots at them. The networks need the ratings but the candidates need a fairer hearing. Shouldn't the candidates be able to choose half of the moderators? Maybe change the rules a little so blantant gotcha questions can be directly declined as in "That question has no bearing on why we are here tonight. Ask me one that does."

Penny| 9.7.11 @ 11:49PM

Certainly pales in comparison to the Palmetto format. I too cannot understand why the reps. allow the LSM to dictate terms and rules. Idiotic.

Margie| 9.8.11 @ 1:01AM

The "moderators" always stink, don't they?

Simon Templar| 9.8.11 @ 1:10AM

I really just do not know anymore how to get it across that THESE DEBATES ARE ABSOLUTELY IDIOTIC.

Please explain to me why Republicans participate in debates that are monitored by the very same people that work every day to destroy the GOP and conservativism? This is like having a debate about capitalism and free markets that is sponsored and conducted by communist and expecting it to not be a complete circus of political subterfuge and propaganda.

What the hell is matter with the GOP? I am serious. Please help me understand why this happens? Are we that frigin stupid?
Newt seems to be the only sane person in the group.

The most important question is why do we allow ourselves to be played like fiddles by these bastards in these debates attacking one another, falling for the gotcha questions, letting them set the narratives, questions, the context, everything.

Quin..what do you do..pick right up where these bastards left off...shooting out slights and liberal talking points about our own candidates.

I am most likely wasting my time...and not getting through..you can not hear me as you have no ears to listen.
Is there anyone out there that knows what I am talking about?

Timothy L. Pennell| 9.8.11 @ 7:32AM

THANK YOU.
I seem to recall that, in 2008, the Congressional Black Caucus sponsored a debate between all of the Democrats running for President, at FOX NEWS.
None of them showed up.
Why can't the STUPID PARTY get it together? How STUPID do you have to be, to keep doing these gigs, where Obama's most loyal Sycophants, are doing the questioning? A guy from POLITICO? What's the matter, the guy from MEDIA MATTERS was busy?
As "Stupid" as everyone thinks that Sarah Palin is, she is the ONLY one, who's figured it out. She doesn't sit for these people any more. No interviews with ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, or NPR. She doesn't do Meet The Press, and neither should anyone else. Let McCain, and his sock puppet - Graham - go.
Palin tells them to "Kiss my ass" with every Speech and Rally she does.
The idea that our guys keep showing up to these AMBUSHES, makes me wonder if they're smart enough to lead.
Palin is the only one who has LEARNED from her experience with the ENEMY. She's the only one with a set of BALLS.
Isn't that what we want from a Commander In Chief?
Go SARAH.

Timothy L. Pennell| 9.8.11 @ 9:57AM

One more thing.
Who's dumbf*ck idea is it, to have OPEN PRIMARIES?
I'm just saying.

Mimi| 9.8.11 @ 9:49AM

SIMON....I saw it different!
Here was a line-up of individuals every one looking terrific....All well spoken....All true PATRIOTS. Not one came off as self centered and spoke of what they could do to help this country!
What was being said sounded well thought out and any ONE could be a fantastic President. QUALITY and QUALIFIED par EXCELLANCE !
The look on the faces of the moderators after the thing got going got that worried expression...at that point they started to get tricky but to no avail our guys out did themselves were totally proffessional! They as a group were ...WOW !
The debate backfired...big-time IF MSNBC was looking to throw a bone to the DEMS !

Ken (Old Texican)| 9.8.11 @ 7:35AM

Simon,
I hear you. I think Quin has a hidden "girlfriend" in the race but won't admit it. Evidently his girlfriend isn't getting enough attention.

jim| 9.8.11 @ 11:25AM

man that was a joke, maybe they could ask obama some tough quesitions like why he spends millions to keep records SEALED dam doesnt anybody see , HE HIDING SOMTHING JIM
