Some good news: Thanks to the intervention of Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, alumni of Stuyvesant High School who were at the Lower Manhattan school on 9/11  will be able to hold their 10th anniversary vigil at the school. As discussed in this space Friday, bizarre and asinine opposition from Stuyvesant Principal Stanley Teitel (as well as red tape at the Battery Park City Authority) had stood in the way.

I am glad someone took those idiots from the MTA
and that really unprincipled principal to actually allow a 9/11 anniversary event.

It is sad to say this but our political class in NYC has totally PEE CEED this entire thing. No prayer, no religion. Its like " no salt or no smoking for the Bloomberg set. I am disgusted with them and intend to do my own memorial in my own way.

I'll submit that the only reason things have changed is because of the negative publicity. If the spectator and other news sources had not put the spotlight on it there would have been no change. There was no common sense and I will bet they are mad as heck for having to relent.
