Turkish Chutzpah

Within the past 24 hours, Turkey has gone ballistic on Israel since a UN report largely vindicated Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza against the Turkish flotilla which sought to bring weapons to Hamas last year. The Turks have withdrawn its Ambassador, suspended military co-operation and are now appealing to the International Court of Justice.

Talk about chutzpah. Turkey sponsored an act of state terrorism against Israel and it is claiming victimhood status. No wonder the Erdogan government feels such a strong affinity with the Palestinians. Daniel Pipes is not amused with Turkey’s mischief and has repeated his call upon NATO to either remove or suspend Turkey from the alliance. Of course, I doubt NATO would remove much less suspend its only Muslim member unless it were to attack another member of the NATO alliance and even then I suspect there would be some hesitancy to act against Turkey. The only way NATO would lose Turkey from its ranks would be they were to admit Israel as a member.

Of course, complicating matters are Turkey’s recent tensions with Syria over the influx of Syrian refugees escaping Bashar Assad’s barbarism. Last month, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu warned Syria that the “time for words will be over.” Of course, if Turkey were to attack Syria it would likely draw Iran and Iraq into the conflict with U.S. and Coalition troops caught in the crossfire. Has Turkey come to the realization that there are fewer consequences for it to turn its attention back to Jerusalem rather than to Damascus?

Israel attacked a Turkish vessel in international waters. What would you want them to do? At least they show some spine unlike the USA when Israel attacked the U.S.S. Liberty. Ask the men of the Liberty what they think about that deliberate attack on a US ship. Israel should have let the ship come into their water then board it.

Harpagon| 9.5.11 @ 5:31AM

Well said. I'd also add that it's quite amusing to see Daniel Pipes, Aaron Goldstein, and other neocons now bash Turkey and call on NATO to remove it from the list of NATO members, whereas a few years ago these same neocons were loudly praising Turkey. This shows that they only care about Israel and they like any country that does not question Israel's criminal policies - but once you do that, you're their enemy. Also, Goldstein has lied that:

"Talk about chutzpah. Turkey sponsored an act of state terrorism against Israel and it is claiming victimhood status."

That's garbage. Turkey has never sponsored any acts of state terrorism against anyone. The MV Mavi Marmara was manned by unarmed peace activists, not terrorists, and for Goldstein to claim otherwise is ridiculous. No weapons were onboard the MV Mavi Marmara. The US should sever all ties with the criminal Zionist regime.

Jihadi Work Accident: Hamas Operative Blows Himself Up While Building Bomb In Gaza…

Oopsy daisy.

(Ynet) — Palestinian sources reported Thursday that a Hamas operative was killed overnight in a massive explosion at his Rafah home.

Hamas security forces in Gaza are said to be investigating the circumstances of the blast. The man was most likely killed in a “work accident” while preparing an explosive device.

I know Skippy, Oldfarte, Dr Right, Ken, Margie, and many others on this site wish to express our deepest condolences to Clint and Jack for the passing of one of their closest friends.

Sir Charles Napier had the right idea:
I always liked Sir Charles Napier, who was no mincing, Jihadi fellating scumbag like Ron Paul or Barack Obama.

How to subdue an insurgency: General Napier put down several insurgencies in India during his reign as Commander-in-Chief in India, and once said of his philosophy about how to do so effectively:

“The best way to quiet a country is a good thrashing, followed by great kindness afterwards. Even the wildest chaps are thus tamed.[5]“

Sorry, Clint, about the deaths of all your friends. It must be lonely supporting beheadings of 3 month olds all alone.

Oldefarte| 9.5.11 @ 5:27PM

That the most asinine and STUPIDLY stated opinion I've ever heard in my entire lifetime. Israel attacked a Turkish vessel? How about a Turkish vessel invading Israel in order to deliver arms/munitions to Palestinians in order to arm them against Israel! What if an Israelie vessel loaded thus were to invade Turkish waters in order to arm militants intent upon overthrowing Turkey...how would you then feel? Turkey has obviously cave in politically to their Arab Spring revolutionary movement which will result in detriment to the US, Israel and the entire western world, but that is obviously what you and the domestic terrorists want right??????

Sean| 9.5.11 @ 9:59PM

Actually there were no arms on the vessel. Israel killed a bunch of people boarding it in international waters. Turkey can board whatever vessel it wants in it own waters. It then has to pay the price if it does something stupid.

Kirk| 9.9.11 @ 12:32AM

As Sean said - the Turkish vessel was (a) unarmed, (b) not destined for Israel at all (thus, not "invading Israel"), and (c) was in INTERNATIONAL WATERS at the time Israel attacked the ship with armed commandos.

So, you are basically wrong on every point. The ship turned out to have NO weapons at all - not even a simple pistol - and was filled with baby formula, building supplies, and crutches, etc. And "invasion of Israel"?? Really? The ship was never even headed for Israel, it was headed to Gaza; the Israeli Navy FORCED it to dock in Israel in order to inspect the cargo, which turned out to be completely innocent.

Get your facts straight. If Israel had waited a half-day until the ship was in their territorial waters (12 miles from the coast), they could have done whatever they wanted, and nobody could have complained really. But Israel didn't - they violated international law. And for no benefit really. It's rare to see Jewish leaders of Israel acting this stupidly, and against their own nation's interests. Almost mind-boggling.

Kirk| 9.9.11 @ 12:25AM

@Sean - my thoughts exactly.

Why Israel couldn't merely wait for the "flotilla" ships to just enter their legally-recognized territorial waters before boarding the ships is just beyond me. Instead, they mounted what was essentially an act of piracy in international waters, killing nine unarmed people (including an American citizen) with heavy-handed tactics against ships that Israel knew were manned by peace-activists (and a holocaust-survivor) who had no firearms.

Why the Israelis don't vote "Bibi" Netanyahu out of office really confounds logic. He's bad for their country, bad for relations with Israel's largest benefactor and protector (America), and is turning American opinion (and world opinion) against Israel.

As little as I like Erdogan (the Turkish PM), I have to say, I admire his chutzpah, and the fact that he's willing to protect his own citizens. I guess we next find out if Israel is willing to attack a Turkish ship under Turkish naval protection in international waters...

Ron Lewenberg| 9.3.11 @ 3:15PM

Sean,
Israeli commandos BORDED a Turkish-flagged ship full of communists and terrorist supporters, which was breaking a blockade to help arm terrorists. The US has enforced many embargoes. The only difference is the jihadis conducting suicide lawfare and media manipulation.
Israel attacked what they thought to be a SOVIET or EGPTIAN ship in 1967, becasue LBJ lied to Israel that no US ships where in the area and because his administration refused Israel's request for a naval liaison. Three congressional investigations and the ISraeli radio chatter all show this. If you really must find a conspiracy to validate your self-worth, look into the NSA sending a spy ship into a war zone without escort and then trying to protect itself.

Sean| 9.3.11 @ 3:27PM

I will believe the men of the USS Liberty and their investigations. They concluded and the evidence they presented shows it was a deliberate attack.

Israel should have waited for the ship to come into their own waters. It wasn't a warship and they could have boarded easily. It was really stupid on their part to attack it in international waters.

Oldefarte| 9.5.11 @ 5:29PM

BS! A warship is any vessel loaded with arms. Hell, the airplanes captured and rammed into NYC twin towers were 'warships', duffus!!!!

"The Library of Congress reports: "After checking numerous resources, including the CIS (Congressional Information Service) Indexes to Congressional Hearings (both published and unpublished), and the Public Documents Masterfile, I could find no evidence that the Congress ever held hearings or launched an investigation into the June 8, 1967 incident with
the USS Liberty." ECH, Reference Librarian, Library of Congress."

USS Liberty' veterans demand investigation

Jun. 3, 2007 12:00 AM
Conclusions submitted in October 2003 to the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense by the USS Liberty Veterans Association, Inc., in demanding a congressional investigation into the aborted rescue during the attack of the USS Liberty and subsequent alleged cover-up.

The group also calls for a new Naval Court of Inquiry and that June 8 be officially recognized as USS Liberty Remembrance Day.

1. That on June 8, 1967, after eight hours of aerial surveillance, Israel launched a two-hour air and naval attack against USS Liberty, the world's most sophisticated intelligence ship, inflicting 34 dead and 173 wounded American servicemen (a casualty rate of 70 percent, in a crew of 294);

2. That the Israeli air attack lasted approximately 25 minutes, during which time unmarked Israeli aircraft dropped napalm canisters on USS Liberty's bridge and fired 30mm cannons and rockets into our ship, causing 821 holes, more than 100 of which were rocket-size; survivors estimate 30 or more sorties were flown over the ship by a minimum of 12 attacking Israeli planes which were jamming all five American emergency radio channels;

3. That the torpedo boat attack involved not only the firing of torpedoes, but the machine-gunning of Liberty's firefighters and stretcher-bearers as they struggled to save their ship and crew; the Israeli torpedo boats later returned to machine-gun at close range three of the Liberty's life rafts that had been lowered into the water by survivors to rescue the most seriously wounded;

4. That there is compelling evidence that Israel's attack was a deliberate attempt to destroy an American ship and kill her entire crew; evidence of such intent is supported by statements from Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Undersecretary of State George Ball, former CIA Director Richard Helms, former NSA Directors Lt. Gen. William Odom, USA (Ret.), Adm. Bobby Ray Inman, USN (Ret.), and Marshal Carter; former NSA deputy directors Oliver Kirby and Maj. Gen. John Morrison, USAF (Ret.); and former Ambassador Dwight Porter, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon in 1967;

5. That in attacking USS Liberty, Israel committed acts of murder against American servicemen and an act of war against the United States;

6. That fearing conflict with Israel, the White House deliberately prevented the U.S. Navy from coming to the defense of USS Liberty by recalling Sixth Fleet military rescue support while the ship was under attack; evidence of the recall of rescue aircraft is supported by statements of Capt. Joe Tully, Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga, and Rear Admiral Lawrence Geis, the Sixth Fleet carrier division commander, at the time of the attack; never before in American naval history has a rescue mission been cancelled when an American ship was under attack;

7. That although Liberty was saved from almost certain destruction through the heroic efforts of the ship's captain, William L. McGonagle (MOH), and his brave crew, surviving crewmembers were later threatened with "court-martial, imprisonment or worse" if they exposed the truth; and were abandoned by their own government;

8. That due to the influence of Israel's powerful supporters in the United States, the White House deliberately covered up the facts of this attack from the American people;

9. That due to continuing pressure by the pro-Israel lobby in the United States, this attack remains the only serious naval incident that has never been thoroughly investigated by Congress; to this day, no surviving crewmember has been permitted to officially and publicly testify about the attack;

10. That there has been an official cover-up without precedent in American naval history; the existence of such a cover-up is now supported by statements of Rear Adm. Merlin Staring, USN (Ret.), former Judge Advocate General of the Navy; and Capt. Ward Boston, USN, (Ret.), the chief counsel to the Navy's 1967 Court of Inquiry of Liberty attack;

11. That the truth about Israel's attack and subsequent White House cover-up continues to be officially concealed from the American people to the present day and is a national disgrace;

12. That a danger to our national security exists whenever our elected officials are willing to subordinate American interests to those of any foreign nation, and specifically are unwilling to challenge Israel's interests when they conflict with American interests; this policy, evidenced by the failure to defend USS Liberty and the subsequent official cover-up of the Israeli attack, endangers the safety of Americans and the security of the United States.

In any case, there is no way in hell, let alone a professional military like the Israeli military, could ever confuse the big, modern USS Liberty, which was bristling with antennas and flying a huge American flag, with any Soviet or Egyptian ship. In case anybody has forgotten, the reason that the West mobilized to fight a two century war, that we call the Crusades, was because of the invasion of the Christian Byzantine Empire from the East by the Ottoman Turks, who were Muslim. The reason that Turks look somewhat European in their features was their practice during the Crusades and during the Ottoman invasion and occupation of southeastern Europe to use captive European women as breeding stock.

The Walls That Divide Europe
"Sweden is the Best Islamic State"
by Herbert I. London

http://www.hudson-ny.org/2395/walls-divide-europe

Print Send Comment RSS Share

Walls can be used to keep people in and keep people out, as was true of he Berlin Wall erected in 1961 and today of the walls being erected throughout Europe.

These contemporary walls operate under the name of "no go" zones, areas that are off limits to non-Muslims. These zones function as micro-states governed by Sharia Law. In many locations from Malmo to Hamburg, and from Liverpool to Rotterdam, host country authorities have lost effective control over these zones, and often are unable to provide even basic public aid -- such as police and fire assistance and ambulance services -- without permission from the local imam.

Here, in unvarnished terms, are the influences of multicultural policies that encouraged Muslim immigrants to live in parallel societies "walled in" through both a desire for separation and the host's desire to avoid integration.

In Britain, for example, a Muslim group called Muslims Against The Crusades, has launched a campaign to convert twelve British cities – including London – into independent Islamic states. In the "Tower Hamlets" area of East London, extremist Muslim preachers routinely issue death threats to women who refuse to wear Islamic veils. Neighborhood streets are plastered with posters that declare: "You are entering a Sharia controlled zone; Islamic rules enforced." The Muslim extremist Abu Izzadeen heckled the former Home Secretary John Reid by saying, "How dare you come to a Muslim area!"

At last count, the French police maintain there are 751 "no go" zones (Zones Urbaines Sensibles, ZUS) listed on the French government website. And mosques in Paris have been broadcasting sermons and chants of "Allahu Akbar" on loudspeakers into the streets. By any stretch, this represents an occupation force in France.

In a widely publicized event, fire fighters trying to extinguish a fire in the town's main mosque in Malmo, Sweden, were attacked by Muslim stone throwers. The argument for the disruption was that the fire fighting team did not obtain permission from the imams to enter "their" community. According to Malmo-based Imam Adly Abu Hajar: "Sweden is the best Islamic state."

These walls that divide are having a crippling influence on European societies. Muslim extremists employ the separation as a tactic to proselytize, and Europeans often describe these zones as evidence that Muslims cannot be integrated. The governments in question, eager to maintain stability, acquiesce in favor of the multicultural position. However, the acquiescence does not yield an expected result. The "no-go" zones breed hostility; these areas are time-bombs waiting to be set off by even relatively benign circumstances.

For decades the Berlin Wall was a symbol separating two worlds: freedom and dictatorship. It is instructive that the new walls separate liberal values from notions of religious extremism in a manner not that dissimilar from the past. Although guns, tanks and barbed wire do not separate "no go" zones from host societies, the separation is no less real and no less dangerous.

Here's something else you haven't mentioned, perhaps for fear of offending your Jihadist Johns:

controversial film about Muslim suicide bombers is to be screened as part of a season of programmes to mark the tenth anniversary of 9/11 on Channel 4.

It will show Four Lions by comedian Chris Morris days before memorials take place for the terrorist outrages in New York.

Insiders at the broadcaster say Morris wanted to air the 2010 film on the anniversary itself, but bosses refused.

In the comedy, a group of British terrorists bungle a plan to kill thousands of people at the London Marathon in a terror attack.

Channel 4 will premiere it alongside documentaries about heroes from the emergency services and the killing of Osama bin Laden.

The plans were revealed at the Edinburgh Television Festival by chief creative officer Jay Hunt.

Speaking at a session called No Risk Please, We’re Prime Time, she said: “I’ve just had a robust conversation with Chris Morris about Four Lions and the scheduling of that and how close it is to 9/11. I think we should absolutely continue to push those boundaries.

“It is going out in the next week and a half or so. It is not going out on 9/11 itself. But it is around then because it speaks to that issue.”

Referring to Morris, who presented a paedophile special for TV satire Brass Eye that received a record number of complaints, she said: “He felt strongly that it was an important flavour in the mix, and I think it is.” - Daily Mail

Here's something else you show no outrage over:

FRANKFURT -- A 21-year-old Kosovan man is due to go on trial in Frankfurt on Wednesday charged with the murder of two US soldiers in a shooting that marked the first deadly Islamist attack on German soil.

The March 2 assault occurred at Frankfurt Airport, in western Germany, where Arid Uka is accused of opening fire on US soldiers on their way to fight in Afghanistan. Two airmen were killed and two wounded.

"The investigation showed that the accused wanted to kill the soldiers because they belonged to US forces under the ISAF mandate in Afghanistan," federal prosecutors said, referring to the NATO-led operation.

AP
On March 2, 2011l police investigate the scene after 21-year-old Kosovo Albanian Arid Uka gunned down two American airmen on the bus outside Frankfurt airport, Germany.
They say the accused was influenced by Islamic-extremist appeals on the internet calling for recruits in Germany to join a jihad against US forces because of their deployment in Afghanistan.

A "saddened and outraged" President Barack Obama said the day of the killings that Washington would "spare no effort in learning how this outrageous act took place."

Uka, who faces a possible sentence of life imprisonment for murder and attempted murder, was arrested at the scene as dozens of witnesses looked on.

Prosecutors believe that the young man, who was born in Mitrovica, northern Kosovo, but grew up in Frankfurt, acted alone and did not belong to a terrorist network.

He reportedly told investigators it was on the morning of the attack that he decided to go out and kill as many US soldiers as possible in revenge for the alleged rape of Afghan women by US troops, as claimed in an online video he had just watched.

Early on the afternoon of March 2, he went to the airport by public transport, carrying a pistol, ammunition and two knives in a backpack, according to media reports.

He picked out a group of US soldiers who had just flown in from Britain and were about to travel by bus to the nearby US base at Ramstein, from where many troops continue on to Iraq or Afghanistan by military transport.

At point-blank range, he is said to have fired into the back of the head of a 25-year-old soldier, who died shortly afterward.

Shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great"), he then rushed onto the bus and shot dead the 21-year-old bus driver before opening fire on two more soldiers, aged 21 and 25, who were both seriously wounded, prosecutors say.

A verdict is expected early next year.

Ron Paul is going down, fruitcake. If you weren't so busy going down yourself on your Jihadist Johns, you'd notice, cupcake.

Dr.Ron Paul's Foreign Policy Adviisor Michael Scheuer, Former CIA Chief of The bin Laden Unit,

" On Iran, The President should:
3.) Call in Israel's ambassador to the United States and tell him that we understand that Israel believes Iran is a threat to its survival, and that we agree that Israel has every right to defend itself. If Israel believes it must go to war with Iran, then so be it. But also tell the ambassador that if Israel attacks Iran, the U.S. administration will declare U.S. neutrality in the war and immediately cut off military and financial support to all combatants in the war.

4.) Speak to the American people and tell them to expect to be brutally propagandized by U.S. citizen Israel-Firsters through AIPAC, their ubiquitous media shills, and the men and women they own in the U.S. Congress and federal bureaucracy. Urge Americans to ignore this effort by U.S. Israel-Firsters to get them to send their soldier-children to fight in a religious war in which the U.S. has no genuine national interest at stake, and in which U.S. participation would further bankrupt the country, require the reintroduction of conscription, and put America at war with all of the Muslim world -- Shia and Sunni -- for the foreseeable future."

"After-action reviews, conducted privately inside and outside the military chain of command, describe the episode as a significant defeat for the United States. A common view among those interviewed outside the U.S. Central Command is that Army Gen. Tommy R. Franks, the war's operational commander, misjudged the interests of putative Afghan allies and let pass the best chance to capture or kill al Qaeda's leader. Without professing second thoughts about Tora Bora, Franks has changed his approach fundamentally in subsequent battles, using Americans on the ground as first-line combat units."

The Texas Tea Party, The New Hampshire Tea Party And Other Tea Parties Are Joining In To Expose Perry, For What He Is, A Faux Conservative Opportunist, Like Romney.

" Rick Perry supported lance Armstrong's 3 billion dollar Texas taxpayer funded medical research center. That’s like ObamaCare. That’s not free market.

Rick Perry, secured a 300 million dollar business handout slush fund for him and just the two leaders of the legislature to dole out to whomever he felt like being friendly to. That’s corporate welfare, a recipe for corruption, and as bad as the TARP bailouts that caused the Tea Parties to explode all across America. In fact, Perry gave 20 million dollars to Countrywide Financial which later went bankrupt.
He supported a new state business tax. He set up toll road tax collection booths all over Texas highways. The Austin Tea Party and the Austin Toll Party booed him on the steps of the state Capitol for that.

Rick Perry, signed an executive order mandating young Texas schoolgirls to get the HPV vaccine, while his former chief of staff was a lobbyist for Merck. Perry's judgment was so bad the Texas legislature revolted against him and overturned his decision,"

Back to the subject of the original post.

1. No doubt Israel could have handled the blockade-running ship better, and they probably used excessive force (9 dead!), but overall they were in the right and justified in their actions.

2. Having said that, what is Israel's long-term national security strategy? Remain in a state of perpetual conflict until the Arabs and their other enemies in the region evolve into peaceniks? Demographics will destroy Israel before that happens.

Skippy| 9.5.11 @ 2:55PM

Time for Israel to "test" a few of the A-bombs we gave them years ago, just to make sure they still work.
Their strategy is to survive whatever the Arabs throw at them, including Prince Bambo.
No peace until victory.
Either the Arabs will submit or they will kill every last Israeli.
Pretty simple, PCC.

Your article starts off with a lie: "...the Turkish flotilla which sought to bring weapons to Hamas last year".

Perhaps you stopped paying attention to the flotilla after Israeli commandos boarded it, and killed nine unarmed people (including an American citizen)? As it turned out, there were NO WEAPONS on the ships. Not for Hamas, not for anybody. The ships were loaded with building supplies, walkers for old people, diapers, baby formula, and other humanitarian aid. Whatever the motives of the flotilla-organizers were (and I'm sure they were not pure, and that they were hoping to embarrass Israel, which they did), it's a bald-faced lie to say they were trying to bring weapons to Hamas.

There's not much pointing in reading the rest of the article when you lead off with total falsehoods, and ignore the rest of the report - which was NOT a "UN report", but a UN-commissioned independent report - which states that Israel used unnecessary and illegal force to carry out the raid. Ultimately, the legality of the entire blockade will be decided at the world court of justice, but in the meantime, you turn off American readers who might sympathize with your overall point by ignoring inconvenient truths...
