Signs of the Apocalypse

When a college actually asks applicants if they are homosexual.

When the U.S. [In]Justice Department prosecutes a man for protecting his children by shooting a grizzly on his own property. (Alert: There's a Sarah Palin reference there, for fun.)

When a man like Eric Holder is anywhere near power, much less the chief law enforcement officer in the land.

With all due respect, Quin, I disagree.

It is when the following happens.
A group of mental health professionals, dubbed “B4U-ACT,” are arguing that pedophiles are simply misunderstood and therefore, should not be criminalized.
A partial statement by the group reads:
“Stigmatizing and stereotyping minor-attracted people inflames the fears of minor-attracted people, mental health professionals and the public, without contributing to an understanding of minor-attracted people of the issue of child sexual abuse.” B4U-ACT’s aim is allegedly to create “tolerance” for people who are sexually attracted to children. Are members of the psychiatric community now attempting to treat pedophilia in the same way they would alcoholism or depression?

It just happened...for real.

Occam's Tool| 8.25.11 @ 2:41PM

The APA thinks they are full of it, as do I.

These guys are still fringe characters, for now. It is one of those embarrassing things. But good pickup, Simon.

9thID| 8.25.11 @ 4:09PM

It wasn't that long ago that the same was said of homosexuality, but now look at the depravity we are surrounded by. Romans 1:18-32 has overtaken America, and we are watching it unfold in HighDef...

Alan Brooks| 8.26.11 @ 9:13AM

B4U-ACT might be run by detectives. As soon as you fill out their survey, or contact their discussion groups, you might have your name placed in a database.

Alan Brooks| 8.26.11 @ 8:28AM

So let's get it right:
the grizzly bear was shot by a father, then it was discovered the bear was a black bear, so the father was turned in by the NAACP? or was the bear gay? or was the bear himself armed? the right to arm bears? When guns are banned, only bears will be outlaws?
Grin and bear it?

Alan Brooks| 8.26.11 @ 9:01AM

I like Minor League baseball, so does that make me minor-attracted?

Simon Templar| 8.26.11 @ 12:46PM

No. It just means you like things that are all 'minor.'

Perhaps, you are a new oppressed minor-ity that requires tolerance and understanding.

Ken (Old Texican)| 8.25.11 @ 11:15AM

Quin,
speaking of end-days.....
I think Sarah is spending a great deal of time in prayer these days.
Those prayers may go something like this:

"Father, please guide me here. Should I rejoice that Governor Perry has stepped up? Should I go all in to support him?
Father, warts and blunders and all, he is a fine man, and yes I bumped him over the edge for Governor this last go-around in Texas. I'm very proud to have been a part of that.

...Or Father, with a servant's heart, do I step in to the ring and let the voters decide, despite the wear and tear on my family?"

Quin,
in one way or another... I think Sarah and Rick will wind up supporting each other. What is your thought?

Bob Grant| 8.25.11 @ 5:36PM

With all due respect, Sarah had nothing to do with Perry's win last year.

It was a classic Lesser-of-the-Two-Evils situation.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Ken (Old Texican)| 8.26.11 @ 8:25AM

Bob,
if Sarah didn't help Rick, why do you suppose he asked her to come all the way to Texas to campaign...hard....with him? Duh!

When American Spectator says something nice about President Obama...I'll know the end is nigh

Simon Templar| 8.25.11 @ 11:31AM

If there was something nice to say, it would have been said. I will say something. Nevertheless, for whatever his reason, he had the guts to pull the trigger on Bin Laden. So, what will you do now with your remaining time?

big bob| 8.25.11 @ 11:33AM

Actually, if Obama ever did anything intelligent or PRODUCTIVE, I would be looking over my shoulder for the 4 horsemen!!!

Pete| 8.25.11 @ 11:41AM

Tough to do when you have been directly called an enemy.

Truth to Power| 8.25.11 @ 11:42AM

He is a fantastic guy when he is asleep or not around. I like what he did to Osama with the jury trial and all. Thank goodness he didn't put him through a harsh interrogation. His NCAA basketball tournament predictions were boring and copied but didn't seem insane. He has a good temperament given his shrewish wife. I am getting tired.

TruthSpeaker| 8.25.11 @ 10:09PM

excellently stated. and true, very true.

Tina B| 8.25.11 @ 12:03PM

Why is that? The Spectator, unlike the MSM, does not spew lies, and neither do most responders. Yes, hell will probably freeze over before TAS compliments BHO. And, more power to them - and us.

When BHO decides NOT to run in 2012, then we will finally compliment him for his first wise decision in the interest of our once great country. Then maybe we can become a great nation once again. We are still the greatest nation on earth, but we aren't what we once were. Go, Perry, go!!!

Amber Yusem| 8.25.11 @ 2:21PM

What on earth is there nice to say??? He's a nice guy??? Would that make you feel better?

Claypoole| 8.25.11 @ 5:30PM

I posted this before, but it's worth saying one more time: An elderly woman called Rush Limbaugh's show a few weeks ago, frantic that her Social Security benefits were going to be ended. She was almost in tears, explaining how her life depends on those checks.

Rush talked her through it, and though I can't quote the exact conversation, the caller came to understand that it was the president who was threatening her life's earnings. At the end of the call, she said, "But I'm sure he's a wonderful man in his private life!"

This is what we're facing.

Occam's Tool| 8.25.11 @ 2:42PM

He went to Harvard Law School and didn't shoot his classmates. Wait....is that a good thing?

SpiralArchitect| 8.25.11 @ 3:59PM

Have we heard a word from any class mates...are there any?

Occam's Tool| 8.25.11 @ 6:04PM

Actually, a friend of mine is an alumnus of HLS---yeah, O went.

9thID| 8.25.11 @ 4:11PM

Sure would be "nice" to see him Impeached. How's that?

Bob Grant| 8.25.11 @ 5:37PM

Ok, Ok. I'll say something nice.

His pants are creased nicely.

Simon Templar| 8.25.11 @ 11:26AM

If you lose the culture war, you will have lost everything. It will really not matter who you elect.
The marxist know this and so did our founding fathers. How many times did our founding fathers say that morality, values, and religion were the cornerstones of a Republic? This essential truth seems to be completely missed, particularly by these jackboot Liberaltarians who firmly reject it.

Wayne | 8.25.11 @ 11:39AM

Good point. I am as freedom loving as Barry Goldwater and I am not Christian, but I know that part and parcel of what made this country great was the Christian ethic and Christian morality. It says that each person is responsible for his own behavior but answerable to a higher authority - God.
The driving goal of the Left is to turn Christianity on its head and replacing God with Government. And freedom goes with it.
One does not have to be Christian to appreciate Christian values.

Ken (Old Texican)| 8.25.11 @ 11:48AM

Wayne,
...a remarkable insight.
One thought; just look up and ask for forgiveness and guidance.
Christianity is a gift of God....no strings, just grace.
Heh, then you get the fun (joy) as well as the ethics.
God bless

They just want to get the roommate assignment right.

The Intermediary| 8.25.11 @ 4:43PM

Regarding Elmhurst: Probably the most press that diploma mill has gotten in a long time.

FastJohnny| 8.25.11 @ 5:14PM

As to the Elmuhurst college homosexuality question...I would answer it like Bill Murray and Eugene Levy did in Stripes.

Occam's Tool| 8.25.11 @ 6:05PM

Jaysus--Elmhurst college? Yuck.

Amber Yusem| 8.25.11 @ 7:49PM

Just discovered that Elmhurst needs this info in order to distribute a scholarship specially dedicated to that select student who is homosexual. WHAT and WHY??????!!!!!!!!!!

Long Ben| 8.25.11 @ 11:26PM

Holder is an affirmative action buffoon , just like Obama !

Bob Grant| 8.25.11 @ 11:54PM

Look, I can handle a run-of-the-mill affirmative action buffoon but what we have here (Holder, Obama) is a different bag-0-beans, entirely!!

Dangerous, incompetent yet hell-bent on fundamentally transforming America.

Pray for our country.

Vly Walker| 8.30.11 @ 8:15AM

You knew the Apocalypse was near when the government passed the Lois Capps bill allowing the Federal Reserve to start taking money out of your 401K. And you aren't buying silver instead with that money? Idiot!
