I explain why, here.

Oh — and count me disappointed that Ryan won’t go for it. He would have elevated the level of debate.

I would have glady supported Ryan, but I felt he wasn't the right choice. He would have made 2012 all about Medicare, not Obama. I also think he showed a bit of glass jaw in the way he handled Obama's attacks on the Ryan budget. That is to say he really didn't have a response that was popular.

Right now, I'm for Perry, but I'm very disappointed with the field as a whole. It doesn't even remotely reflect the opportunities that 2012 presents. I would still like to see Jeb, Rubio, or Christie get in the race. I would NOT, however, like to see Palin jump int he race.

Jeb???? I like his brother (in spite of some of his short comings), his father not so much but in 2012 out of 300 plus million people you would go back to the same family one more time...

The people will vote for the man who is in a statistical dead heat with Obama in the Gallup poll. The real Dr. of Democracy Ron Paul. Dr. Paul got this high ranking even though every elite media outfit in the countr has been trying to shut his candidacy down. For Peace, Life and Liberty vote for the soldiers best friend Ron Paul.

...why can't he still do that as budget chairman? and regardless, how in the physical world we occupy is a campaign revolving almost entirely around cutting entitlements not a total political loser in the general?

Quartermaster| 8.22.11 @ 6:39PM

The man that is nominated to run against the Obummer in 2012 needs to be a political fighter. Ryan is not that man. Declining to run is the best move he can make for the country.

PCP Smoker| 8.22.11 @ 8:48PM

He never had a base. WTF? Other than the typical elitists in DC, Ryan never had a chance. Elitist GOP, go cry in the corner.

Santorum is a big government liberal Republican. The reason Hillyer like him is because Santorum promises more war in the Middle East.

" Rick Perry supported Lance Armstrong’s 3 billion dollar Texas taxpayer funded medical research center. That’s like ObamaCare. That’s not free market.

Rick Perry, secured a 300 million dollar business handout slush fund for him and just the two leaders of the legislature to dole out to whomever he felt like being friendly to. That’s corporate welfare, a recipe for corruption, and as bad as the TARP bailouts that caused the Tea Parties to explode all across America. In fact, Perry gave 20 million dollars to Countrywide Financial which later went bankrupt.
He supported a new state business tax. He set up toll road tax collection booths all over Texas highways. The Austin Tea Party and the Austin Toll Party booed him on the steps of the state Capitol for that.

Rick Perry, signed an executive order mandating young Texas schoolgirls to get the HPV vaccine, while his former chief of staff was a lobbyist for Merck. Perry's judgment was so bad the Texas legislature revolted against him and overturned his decision,"

The Tea Party Rebellion Is Here.

Carpe Diem.

Ron Paul---wrong on Strauss-Kahn. Charges being dropped.

My daughter will get the HPV vaccine when she is of proper age. Never know when some paulbot rapist may try to attack her when I'm at work.

You're Zany.

How can any candidates benefit from someone not getting into the race, and who said he wouldn't run months ago. There was some Rove talk for a week or so, but I don't think anyone believed that Ryan would change his mind. I don't think it makes a bit of difference.
