Hatch Watch

It will be interesting to see if the recent rightward trend in Orrin Hatch's voting record -- votes for the Rand Paul budget and against bipartisan spending deals, for instance -- continues with Jason Chaffetz ruling out a Senate bid.

Chaffetz isn't the only possible Hatch challenger, but he was the strongest.

He's getting old, his days are numbers and he sees which way the wind is blowing. I suspect he is trying to leave a legacy of having voted on the right.

From what I have heard, I would have liked to have had Jason in the Senate. Hatch was a good Senator for a few terms (starting in 1976 if I recall correctly), but after a while he changed into one of those elected officials who saw himself as the ruling elite. He should have been replaced after his second or third term of office. His career makes the case for term limits.

I will be sorely disappointed if Mr. Hatch does Not receive a primary challenger.

He is obviously Part of The Problem.
