This is
most disquieting. As about a hundred people standing outside
the Israeli Embassy in Cairo yesterday cheered a man as he
climbed to the roof of the complex which houses the embassy,
removed the Israeli flag and then replaced it with an Egyptian
flag. He then proceeded to burn the Israeli flag. The Egyptian
guards on duty made no attempt to stop him.
This was done ostensibly in reaction to the killing of five
Egyptian police officers by Israeli forces who crossed into Egypt
after Palestinian gunmen from Gaza launched
attacks from the Sinai against Israeli civilians on a bus and
other passing vehicles near Eilat killing eight. Israel
apologized to Egypt for the loss of their security personnel
but Egypt says the apology is insufficient and is withdrawing its
Ambassador.
If anyone should be apologizing it is Egypt for allowing Hamas
to use the Sinai as a base from which to launch attacks against
Israeli civilians.
Yet I cannot say I am surprised by what happened at the Israeli
Embassy. Back in April, there were large crowds in front of the
Israeli embassy
demanding that the Israeli flag be removed and the Egyptian
ambassador be recalled after Israel retaliated against Hamas for
massive
rocket attacks into Israel including an attack on an Israeli
schoolbus which
claimed the life of an Israeli teenager.
Of course, since the protests began in Tahrir Square earlier
this year, there has been a strong element of
anti-Israeli sentiment expressed. Not that
Mubarak prevented Egyptian state television from
airing a 41-part mini-series on the Protocols of Elder Zion
which aired not only Egypt but throughout the Arab world. Egyptians
have never liked Israelis and I am sure Mubarak is among them. Yet
he maintained the peace. Now that he is gone I doubt there is any
other public figure in Egypt willing to do the same. Not with the
Muslim Brotherhood calling the shots. Back in January, I
agreed with The Jerusalem Post’s Caroline Glick when
she made the case
that once Mubarak fell that peace between Israel and Egypt was
doomed and I am afraid she is absolutely right. I am equally afraid
this will happen sooner rather than later.
At the moment, what I fear the most is that now that the Israeli
flag has been taken down is what could happen to personnel inside
the Israel embassy. At this point, does anyone think Egyptian
security would prevent a mob from storming the embassy and taking
its staff hostage as was done at the American embassy in
Tehran?

"At this point, does anyone think Egyptian security would prevent a mob from storming the embassy and taking its staff hostage as was done at the American embassy in Tehran?"
Here's why the above likely won't happen: the Muslim Brotherhood knows this act would only hand Bibi Netanyahu an engraved invitation to unleash a no-holds-barred smackdown by the Israeli armed forces.

well i hope they will storm in there and get them , they deserve it , and this article is not professional as journalist and reporters are not supposed to take sides , if i remember .

Yes, Harpagon. HAMAS. Let's talk about HAMAS.
You can go to their WEB SITE, and get yourself something from their Gift Shop. Really. They sell Drinking Mugs with OBAMA'S FACE on them. He's wearing an ARAB HAT, and the Traditional Muslim Dishrag, around his neck.
Isn't that interesting?
Why would a Muslim TERRORIST Group, be selling Drinking Mugs with Obama's face on them?
HAMAS believes that OBAMA has been sent by their God of MURDER. They have given him the name: ABU HUSSAI. They believe that he is their DELIVERER. (So do I)
The SON of a Muslim Father. The Step Son of a Muslim Step Father. He was RAISED in the Muslim Country, Indonesia. TAUGHT, in it's Muslim Schools and it's MOSQUES. He told George Stephanopoulos, that: "The Muslim Call To Prayer is the MOST BEAUTIFUL SOUND in the World." And, then, he recited it, because, that's what Christians do.
So. a boy, RAISED ON ISLAM, sits on the Throne of the World's most Powerful Christian Nation, and ISRAEL'S only hope for survival.
Obama wants to give BILLIONS to Egypt.
Obama wants to sell Egypt, hundreds of our Front Line ABRAMS BATTLE TANKS.
If YOU were HAMAS, and your MESSIAH was the Leader of the only Country that could possibly save your BLOOD ENEMY from being Annihilated by you? What would you do?
Would you attack, NOW? Or would you WAIT, and take the chance that he's NOT re-elected?
That's a pretty easy one, if you ask me.
Oldefarte| 8.21.11 @ 1:47PM
Aaron, I wholehearted agree with your conclusion. More broadly, this whole middle eastern citizens revolt being supported by our current administration will eventually lead to an Iranization of the middle east sadly. The despotic regimes within the middle east were as known deplorable but maintained public stability and secular governments. The conversion of Iran from the Shah to the Muslim extremists will be copied within each/every ME country eventually. The detrimental aspect of this will be the ME oil supply that is needed, and of course the state of Israel [which I think is capable of defending itself militarily but this evolving situation will make that much more diffecult naturally]. What's not being considered is the confiscation of the ME oil by Muslim terrorististic governments can used as a political weapon against the developed nations critically needing this MR oil. With the current administration's destructive policies of mandated prevention of oil drilling off of our shores etc and reducing our domestic oil supply production, the loss of ME oil will become devastating to our well-being [$3.50/gallon could easily become $15/gallon quickly]. One more reason why IT'S THE DEMOCRATS, STUPIDS!!!!!!!!
PCC| 8.21.11 @ 2:59PM
Any mob that tries to storm the Israeli embassy in Cairo will regret that they ever tried.
Ken (Old Texican)| 8.21.11 @ 3:28PM
If they storm Israel's embassy, I would hope Israel sends the Egyptians a friendly reminder. Drop a couple of Iraeli flags onto the Aswan Dam again and remind Egypt tht a couple or three bunker-buster bombs on that dam and POOF 80% of Egypt's population drowns.
This is all nasty political theatre, folks.
Jack in Wi.| 8.21.11 @ 5:17PM
How many times has the American flag been burned? In fact it is in a legal form of protest in this country. The American flag has been burned numerous times around the world. So what? Most Egyptians hate the Israeli's and their racist regime. They have the right to blow off some steam when Israel does one it's usual awful acts. Egypt is now on the way to a democracy. The anti-Israeli opinions of the vast majority of the Egyptian people are going to be expressed. They don't have an American and Israeli stooge as a brutal tyrant over them anymore. They may have to live with Israel but they don't have to like it. Maybe if Israel were a better neighbor there would be less bitterness.
Ken (Old Texican)| 8.21.11 @ 6:20PM
Mike,
thank you.

Say, Jack~
You need to be "regenerated" from above. That is, Heaven, and of God.. (Jn. 3:3.)
Once God regenerates you by His Spirit, you will turn and love your Israeli friends.
Have you ever heard of this website, Jack?
You should go there and listen in to a man who Christ changed~ he was once a hater of Israel and was in the army of the PLO and knew Arafat.
God changed his heart from one of stone to one of softness.
Click on the link and then on to the "listen Now" link to the testimony of Tass Saada. It's several minutes in, but worth it.

I love everyone Margie. I believe we are all God's children. The Muslims are my neighbors and brothers. So are the Jews." There are no more Jews and genitiles. We are all one in Jesus Christ. " The Prince of Peace wants peace in the area where he grew up. He loves the Arabs and the Jews. They are his kith and kin. Get right with the Lord and work for peace. Your hatred is endangering your imortal soul. " Blessed are the Peacemakers. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. Ye shall know the truth and the truth will set you free. "
Margie| 8.21.11 @ 11:24PM
Sooo Jack, are you saying you really DON'T want to see Israel blown off the face of the Earth, then??
Jack in Wi.| 8.21.11 @ 11:54PM
Of course I don't want Israel or anywhere else blown off the face of the Earth. But I must say that I have seen Zionists in internet forums threaten to blow up the Arabs many times and the Israeli's have the bombs to do so. I want peace in a united, integrated, Israel Palistine with equal rights for all, civil, religious, and political. I also think the Palistianains as an act of reparation and reconciliation are due a few hunderd billions, for the theft, torture, and murder of the last 63 years. I follow the Savior of the World. The Prince Of Peace who said " Blessed are the peacemakers."
C Smith| 8.22.11 @ 9:38AM
So Jack, You "follow the Savior of the World. The Prince Of [sic] Peace who said 'Blessed are the peacemakers.'"
Don't you remember that your Prince of Peace, or the "God of Israel" as He is referred to over 200 times in Scripture, is coming to redeem His people Israel:
"Who is this that cometh from Edom [Jordan], with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth" (Isaiah 63:1-6).
Gerry | 8.21.11 @ 7:21PM
Great comment, Jack. The Ziombies can't handle the truth, so they pretend to know "who and what you are".
I do know - someone who tells it like it is. Five Egyptian people killed and one Israeli flag destroyed. Which is the greater tragedy? The Ziombies have already answered.
Marc2| 8.21.11 @ 7:54PM
I wasn't really surprised when I read this article by the fact that it is totally biased to the Israeli side. But I certainly feel it as my duty to point out some very interesting things:
The muslim extremists that hate the US, describe it as the greatest evil. They say that the US government is controlling their countries by supporting dictators, and is robbing their oil.
I personally thought that they were overstating it until I have read this article ("The despotic regimes within the middle east were as known deplorable but maintained public stability and secular governments.").
No doubt that they have some routs within the arab countries who have been fighting the existence of Israel since 1948. Yes, Arabs do hate Israelis, but they do so because Israel was founded by taking Palestinian territory. And yes, loads of arabs and muslims dislike America, because America is supporting Israel to the last extent, and stealing their own wealth.
However, Egypt and every other ME country that will pass into democracy, will not declare war to Israel, but will help find a solution that is fair to both the Arabs (especially the Palestinians) and the Israeli.
P.S.: the ME oil is the property of the ME countries, not the US!!
P.P.S.:the fact that the Democrats are "supporting" the rioters is only relieving the US from more hatred.. gotta admit when they do something right.
Dai Alanye | 8.21.11 @ 11:10PM
The entire Middle East and North Africa were Christian and Jewish before the rise of the Arabs. "Palestine" was conquered by Muslims. Briefly, during the Crusades, Christians took it back.
It has always been a case of conquest, so Israel has every right to hold the territory conquered from the Muslims. There is no more justice on the side of the "Palestinians" than anyone else.
I suppose next we'll have someone named Goliath claiming to be a Philistine and demanding the Gaza strip be returned to his people.
Sean| 8.22.11 @ 12:20AM
Actually the British controlled the area before modern Israel was created. They of course were driven out by terrorism.
Sean| 8.22.11 @ 12:22AM
Oh by the way the terrorism at that time didnt come from the Muslims.
Harpagon| 8.22.11 @ 5:05AM
That's because the Israeli lobby wants to stifle free speech and the debate. A balanced debate about America's ME policies might force the government to stop reflexively and unconditionally backing Israel. So the Israeli lobby is trying to stifle it.
Bob K.| 8.21.11 @ 8:20PM
All this aside, how is our policy of encouraging Democracy and Nation building doing in the near east? Didn't putting Mubarak in a cage bring these ideals closer? Now with "Ghadaffi's End" close will "A Brave New Libya" help bring these ideals to fruition?
Kindly chime in here, Mr. Reid Smith and Mr. John Tabin, with your thoughts, if you please.
me man| 8.21.11 @ 8:22PM
Well said marc.
Of course arabs should and hate israel.
Additionally, based on the fact that israel has gone against the treaty, removing and burning the flag was not even remotely enough to what egypt should have done.
Do you think if this situation was reversed israel would let it go from an "apology"?
Actually, that is not a question because the answer is most definately no. And if you actually think its a yes, then you don't know facts or history.
Ken (Old Texican)| 8.21.11 @ 9:52PM

What a whole load of biased shit. a) no evidence the attackers, whom until this moment remain unknown for sure, came from Egypt. b) Israel failed in protecting its internal territories but you blame Egypt for this, we do not protect Israel, I know mubarak told you otherwise but this is the truth. c) Israeli troops entered our own territory, I wish they were shot dead, which is standard procedure in any country in dealing with those violating the borders. d) We are interested in building our country but we wont shy from defending it and we will no longer accept the I'm sorry as if this was a wrongful step on our feet and not taking the lives of Egyptians. Last but not least, occupation cant last forever, if you care for the Zionist state, advice them to work on real peace before its too late, the US is getting weaker and is swimming in debt just like the EU and the ppl of the Middle East will no longer put up with the injustices we have suffered. To Ken, you are nothing but a racist and ignorant person, full of hate good luck living with your awful self. Salam

"If anyone should be apologizing it is Egypt for allowing Hamas to use the Sinai as a base from which to launch attacks against Israeli civilians."
Garbage. It is Israel that should apologize to Turkey for ILLEGALLY assaulting a civilian Turkish ship. But of course, Israeli-firster AIPAC lobbyists, including Aaron Goldstein (whose name betrays his true country of allegiance), want the US to continue to be subservient to Israel, no matter what Israel does. Goldstein is a traitor,a nd so is every other Israeli lobbyist.
Oh, and BTW, I hope that AIPAC, the Council of Presidents, and all their individual members have obtained plea bargains with the DOJ for violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
