The political action committee for Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC) put out a statement praising Michele Bachmann’s stand on illegal immigration.

“It is great to hear Michele Bachmann put the illegal immigration issue into the spotlight,” said William Gheen of ALIPAC. “She has hit the nail on the head describing the cause of the problem being the under enforcement of our existing laws. By stating her intent to put barriers on our southern border backed by troops she is showing the strength and resolve voters want to see.”

Maybe Bachmann will be the candidate who pushes Perry on this issue.

Well...this is a smart move on her part. Not only is she correct in her position, but she has identified a problem area for Perry.
Being from a border state with a huge Hispanic population (both legal and otherwise), he must walk a very fine line between enforcement and being perceived as anti Hispanic.

The only thing Michelle in Minnesota has to worry about is all the Canadians pouring over the border to find health care here in the US.

Occam's Tool| 8.17.11 @ 3:54PM

And the Canucks go home. They love their Canadian Bacon. And very few in our prisons here. And they pay cash in the hospitals.

Completely different from down South. My view is a little harsher than Paul's on this---put up the wall, place men with quad 50s on the walls with artillery backup and air support if necessary, and turn illegals into corpses. Giving them instate tuition REALLY sticks in my craw, as I paid out of state tuition for my med school in TX.

Kill them.

Oldefarte| 8.17.11 @ 3:59PM

Frankly, OT, I think Obama had a pretty good idea concerning this issue [as long as PETA's protection of alligators doesn't become an problem]!!!!!

Occam's Tool| 8.17.11 @ 5:27PM

Too gentle--only blood on the sand will convince assholes.

Oldefarte| 8.17.11 @ 5:36PM

If those gators are hungry enough, the 'assholes' might just become the only thing left in the sand!!!!

anonymous| 8.17.11 @ 5:49PM

yea they have .50's also. the ones we sold them jackass.

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:34AM

Yes, that's why we need artillery and airstrikes, as well.

K W S| 8.18.11 @ 7:37PM

Yes but they have such a hard time trying to hold the .50s sideways so they look cool ....

Clint| 8.17.11 @ 3:15PM

Dr.Ron Paul,
"I basically say the people who come here illegally, no amnesty, no citizenship, no mandates to get free medical care and for education, Federal government telling the states, bankrupting our southern states, that they should not, and I don’t see how it’s possible where you can round up 20 million people but I would not give them citizenship, benefits and allow them to vote, I think that would be very detrimental."

Occam's Tool| 8.17.11 @ 3:51PM

Yes, but the Ronald would also endorse the spread of Sharia. Let me know when you want to take my bet, Clint. I thought she was your co-favorite.

Paul's approval is going down faster than a PaulBot on a Jihadist. Perry, Romney, Bachmann, and...out of the medals, the Galveston oil scum.

Clint| 8.17.11 @ 6:30PM

Do your homework before you run your uninformed mouth Israel Firster Tool Job. Apparently, you wouldn't know The Tea Party, if it jumped up & bit you.

"Tea party activists are divided roughly into two camps, according to a POLITICO/TargetPoint poll:

Palin, who topped the list with 15 percent, speaks for the 43 percent of those polled expressing the distinctly conservative view that government does too much, while also saying that it needs to promote traditional values.

Paul’s thinking is reflected by an almost identical 42 percent who said government does too much but should not try to promote any particular set of values — the hallmarks of libertarians. He came in second to Palin with 12 percent.
When asked to choose from a list of candidates for president in 2012, Palin and Paul also finished one-two — with Palin at 15 percent and Paul at 14 percent. "

Clint| 8.17.11 @ 6:43PM

The Mainstream Media was caught & called on attempting to ignore Dr. Ron Paul's near Dead Heat Finish in Iowa.

"Harris Poll: If Ron Paul Won GOP Nomination, He Would Split Vote With Obama

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.), an official candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, has performed well in several polls throughout his campaign. In may, Paul took second place in a CNN/WMUR poll of likely Republican voters. In June, Paul won a Republican Leadership Conference straw poll. At the beginning of July, Paul came in first in a Texas GOP poll, conducted by the Azimuth Research Group.

Perhaps the best indication of Paul’s candidacy so far is a Harris poll released by Harris Interactive. According to the Harris poll, Obama and Paul would split the vote right down the middle if they were to run against each other in 2012."

irish19| 8.17.11 @ 10:20PM

I see you've finally exorcised your Shift key.

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:40AM

Yet, Irish, he still won't take my bet---if paul wins ONE Caucus or Primary, I'll quit posting; if he doesn't, he will. I smell the odor of an native bird of Texas, in the area of Ron Paul's district (where I lived for 4 years, unlike Cwint)--the Attwater Prairie Chicken. Like Paul, they are too damn stupid to get off a runway without help.

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:35AM

Rassmussen--Paul at 9% and falling. Sorry, Cwint--Paul's ratings are going down faster than you on a Jihadist!

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:41AM

I've read that quote, like the five others you use, twenty times. The difference is simply this: Ron Paul is a jihadist's bitch. Like you.

Occam's Tool| 8.17.11 @ 3:55PM

By the way, both my kids are Guatemalan. I favor fairly Liberal Legal immigration, as we're going to need good legal workers and soldiers when Europe falls in 2030-2040.

Bob K.| 8.17.11 @ 8:42PM

Occam,
If Europe falls it will be after the Nation of Israel falls.

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:35AM

Bob---no sir---before. Before. Israel still has national pride.

Occam's Tool| 8.17.11 @ 3:56PM

Liberal Legal Immigration as in: favoring appropriate immigration for those who will pledge allegience to the Constitution and learn English and are non-criminals and hard workers.

THL| 10.31.11 @ 12:02PM

Liberal Legal Immigration as in pledging allegiance to the Democrat Party.

Occam's Tool| 8.17.11 @ 3:57PM

If Bachmann is smart, she will make a play to hammer down the NRA next.

Oldefarte| 8.17.11 @ 4:02PM

Here, here, OT! I'm concerned also with Perry's supposedly playing politiacl footsie with various Muslim organizations [which if it is beyond a typical political smooziness, will be job killer for my vote definately]!!!!!

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:40AM

Yes, that's a problem for Perry. Another problem is the support of the DREAM act.

irish19| 8.17.11 @ 10:21PM

Please explain the NRA comment.

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:36AM

NRA does not have absolute overlap with Conservatives, but fairly solid. Huge voting bloc, and NRA approval is nice Conservative move, Irish.

Kingofthenet| 8.17.11 @ 5:30PM

Picture this, it a dark stormy night and you are on approach to LaGuardia Airport, when you hear 'President' (Lol) Bachmann just got rid of all those overpaid Air Traffic Controllers(170k) and replaced them with some good wholesome minimum wage fundamentalist Christians, it would make you feel warm inside(and most likely outside, what with all the burning Jet fuel and all)

Occam's Tool| 8.18.11 @ 1:37AM

From whence does this scenario come? She herself has noted that transportation is a Federal Governmental role.

Human| 8.18.11 @ 1:08AM

Is Michele wins to be president, I guarantee she will be sending planes to Mexico to bring workers to do the jobs nobody wants to do.

ObamaAmnestyWillBankruptUS| 8.18.11 @ 9:50AM

Michele Bachmann is right to target illegal immigration as one of the key major economic issues bankrupting the U.S. economy.

This is not a racial issue. Immigrants (many of whom are illegally present) are major contributors to the U.S. debt and no one is paying attention for fear of being labeled racist or xenophobic. Anxiety about a group of people threatening the survival of the local group is a normal and healthy behavioral response. What family would let their own children starve to feed the neighbor's kids? And what government would allow any such parents to do so? We must challenge the misguided view that in order to be good Christians, Jews, and/or other religious or non-religious people, that we must allow invaders to take our jobs, homes, health care, and food.

U.S.-born citizens in all parts of the country need to look at what is happening in California. The entire U.S. needs to abandon the misperception that what happens in California stays in California. Every U.S.-born citizen taxpayer pays for illegal immigrants who have developed a large dependency on public benefits in California and have a growing sense of entitlement.

Many immigrants who came to California illegally receive large welfare checks because of having U.S.-born children. These children are grown-up and some of these immigrants, who are used to $3,600 per month in welfare, now want the U.S. taxpayer to help them with their mortgages:
http://special.newamericamedia.....garet.html

Obama has spent considerable effort supporting illegal immigrants and treating them like a group that is being discriminated against. Obama has argued for rights and benefits for illegal immigrants that far surpass the rights and benefits available to U.S.-born citizens.

Here are five examples where Obama sides with illegal immigrants against U.S.-born citizens:

(1) AMNESTY: Obama speaks directly to Latino immigrants on Spanish-speaking television in Southern California telling them to fight for amnesty and to "punish the enemy" (i.e., punish U.S. citizens who oppose illegal immigration). Many recent immigrants are demanding unlimited chain migration because they misinterpret having the “right to apply for a relative to immigrate” as the “right to have that relative immigrate” period, regardless of job availability or numbers of applications. They invite their relatives to come illegally if denied proper visas and then seek help from immigration lawyers and activists. The problem is that a typical recent immigrant has on average approximately 10 extended family members, all of whom expect to immigrate and receive free health care, food stamps, K-12, and college education paid for by U.S. citizen taxpayers. FAIR calculates that illegal immigration costs the U.S. taxpayer $113 billion annually, but that does not include the cost of lost jobs, unemployment, and the overall deterioration of U.S. economy.

(2) JOBS FOR IMMIGRANTS: Obama promises to provide more construction jobs, many of which are filled by illegal immigrants in the Southwest. Obama does nothing to ensure these jobs (or any jobs) are filled by U.S. citizens. To the contrary, Obama fights any state legislation that attempts to preserve the right of U.S. citizens to jobs. The Pew Hispanic Center reports that since Obama has taken office, millions of immigrants (many of whom are illegally present) have gained jobs, while millions of U.S.-born citizens have lost jobs.

(3) WELFARE FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS: Obama supports more aid to the poor and does nothing to stop the abuse of welfare by many illegal immigrants who fraudulently qualify by not reporting undocumented income and supplying incorrect information (e.g., listing distant relatives living abroad as dependents). In some counties of California, 80% of illegal immigrants receive some form of welfare. Midwesterners may think that is California's problem, but the federal government invariably bails California out.

(4) COLLEGE TUTION FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS: Obama supports the federal and California Dream Acts, the latter of which provides full tuition scholarships to illegal immigrant college students (i.e., anyone who isn't a U.S. citizen). All this while U.S. citizens can hardly afford college and are largely excluded from financial aid because they are honest people who obey the law, pay their taxes, and report ALL their income (not just half of it so that they qualify for tax credits). U.S. born children of illegal immigrants are already getting an unfair advantage at financial aid because the FAFSA application does not require illegal immigrant parents to report any income, instructing them to put down 000-00-000 for social security numbers, and advising students not to report any income that might get their parents in "trouble". Our government has no sympathy with the trouble this is causing by bankrupting U.S. citizen taxpayers and making college unaffordable for their families. U.S. citizen students and taxpayers are paying for college for illegal immigrants and their children. Colleges provide "private" scholarships on the backs of U.S. citizen students -- taking up to one third of their tuition to provide free tuition to illegal immigrant families. Tuition at California universities has sky-rocketed since Obama took office and many university administrators openly advocate for Obama's plan to give illegal immigrants every conceivable advantage over U.S. citizens in the name of social justice.

(5) SUPER-CITIZEN STATUS FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS: Obama supports special considerations for illegal immigrants making them above the law. In Texas, Obama argued that a Mexican citizen (living illegally in the U.S. since age 2) should be protected by the Mexican consulate when charged with a serious crime. All told, Obama wants illegal immigrants to be free from obeying immigration law, tax law, and criminal law. That is an extremely elevated status. More recently, several agencies under the direction of the Obama administration are alleged to have "walked" guns to Mexico into the hands of illegal immigrant drug smugglers, while the Obama administration fights to limit gun rights for U.S. citizens. Worse than that, the illegal immigrant drug smugglers may have received stimulus money as paid informants, and a major cartel kingpin was promised immunity from prosecution on Obama's watch (March 17, 2009) for smuggling tons of cocaine.
A vote for Obama is a vote for JOBS for illegal immigrants, AMNESTY for illegal immigrants, MEDICAID for illegal immigrants, IMMUNITY for illegal immigrants, K-12 and COLLEGE for illegal immigrants -- and nothing other than a HUGE BILL for U.S. citizens and escalating debt.

I hope the republican candidates wake up to the fact that this one issue alone will assure them getting elected. Close down the sanctuary cities and enforce our immigration laws ... including the one for aiding and abetting an illegal - 5 yrs in prison! Bring the 35,000 troops home from protecting S Korea's border and place them on our southern border. This is not an issue democrats can win in a debate with the american people.

THL| 10.31.11 @ 11:59AM

I agree with KWS on this. This issue will become very hot. People are fed up with the present situation. Maybe if we take control of our borders it would encourage Europeans to do the same, too!
