Tonight’s Debate, Part I

In the early going, the big story is Tim Pawlenty coming out punching with strong criticisms of Obama, a class warfare attack on Mitt Romney, and a harsh criticism of Michele Bachmann (her record in Congress is “nonexistent”). Of course, Bachmann comes back over the top by claiming that he supports cap and trade and an individual health insurance mandate. The exchange ends with Pawlenty saying that if letting Obamacare and TARP pass is Bachmann’s idea of leadership, “please stop.” Very personal, Bachmann looks legitimately hurt. The storyline that Pawlenty is afraid to attack his opponents seems to be dead after this intense argument with Bachmann.

The segment closes with Romney capably fielding a pointed question from Chris Wallace about jobs he cut as a private equity manager. In the early going, Romney is again able to appear competent and unruffled, while the others squabble amongst themselves.

Um, Pawlenty did support cap and trade. Pawlenty makes no sense what so ever with his attacks on Bachmann.

Newt is becoming combative.
I don't really know Jon Huntsman, but he seems to be doing okay.

LOVE Bachmann.

I don't. She has been far too prone to overstatement and stretching facts.

Winning this election is quite simple. I am afraid however, that, as usual, many Republicans ...particularly politicians just can not seem to get past their handlers, talking heads, and the typical stupid conventional wisdom.

Here it is loud and clear.
It is about real ideas and solutions, stupid!
It is about the economy, jobs, and government out of control, stupid!
It is about the POSER (and the Dem Party) currently sitting in the white house!

It is not about tearing each other apart or scoring points for yourself. These debates are idiotic, entertain only talking heads, and provide little for the public other than propaganda and group think.

Newt summed it ALL up when he challenged and exposed the ridiculousness, misdirection, and manipulation of the media and press corp via jackasses like smarmy Chris Wallace. It was the best thing said all night and the most honest.
I do not give a rats ass what the likes of these talking heads think. If you want this nation back stop listening to them. The audience wildly supported and agreed with Newt!

Exactly! I don't like Newt Gingrich, and I don't want him to win the nomination, but he delivered the best line of the debate.

Agreed.

Pawlenty showed he was combative, alright..with a woman.

Would that he had shown these guts last time.

Although I notice he did try to compensate a bit...he actually looked at Romney this time!

I hate to say this about FOX...but they were the one's who got what they wanted last night...at least vis a vis Pawlenty & Bachman. They wanted a fight, and those two obliged. Of I ever get to ask a question at one of those debates, I will ask all the candidates if they are willing to forswear attacks on each other and concentrate on Obama.

Regards,

Mike
