Resisting Google

Google, the company that has been desperately currying favor with conservative organizations around Washington, and which is being investigated by the Federal Trade Commission, as well as several European governments, isn’t making many friends inside Washington, D.C., despite the money it is throwing around. This new advertisement makes clear that conservatives aren’t going to roll over so easily for a company that has focused the bulk of its political and ideological support on Democrats and the far left. The ads should begin appearing on national TV within the next day.

That's hilarious. First, the complaint is that Google uses its dominance in the search engine market to make life difficult for its competitors. Since when is that something conservatives dislike?

Oh yeah. When it's a company "that has focused the bulk of its political and ideological support on Democrats and the far left". There's not even a casual attempt to hide the political nature of the complaint.

Second funny: if you go to the web site, their number one complaint is that Google promotes its own products at the top of its own pages.

You heard that right. The complaint here is that on pages that Google serves, using hardware and bandwidth that Google pays for, created using Google algorithms, served for customers who deliberately and voluntarily chose to use Google ... Google is not being "fair" about promoting its competitors.

As if that's not enough, here's a third funny:

A lot of conservatives promote bing as the "non-liberal" alternative to google.

Bing, in case anyone didn't know, is Microsoft's product. So the complaint about google making life difficult for small competitors in the video is kind of silly.

When I hear conservatives promoting bing I wonder if they know what bing did to get attention. Anyone? They took several deliberate steps to make bing the best search engine for porn.

It's true. And if you don't believe me ... google it.
