I just read the article and couldn't find any real news, let alone good news. Laws are generally written by lawyers. Judges are nothing more that lawyers who are Peter Principled up a notch. They are all corrupt. Be vary wary when reading about "tort reform". It is usually akin to reading about "conservative democrats" or budgetary "spending cuts".

Loser pays works. I used to rile up my New Zealand friends by noting that for all of their "Progressive Policies," their legal system's set up for civil suits was so far to the Right that Rush Limbaugh's opinions for tort reform could only be seen in the far Left distance, if at all. One of the few things about Nzed I liked---the girls were unattractive, the weather sucked worse than Ron Paul prostituting himself to a Hamas leader, and the food was dreadful.

A problem in North Carolina is it is hard to get a court to make you whole. Medical bills that result from an injury may not be presented in court. One poor woman was given $30,000 and had over $100,000 in medical bills.

Tort "reform" by insurance companies will not real tort reform. It is almost certain you will be stiffed.
