North Korea, under fire for its own nuclear programme, took the
helm of the Conference on Disarmament for the first time on
Thursday to a chorus of protests and called for the elimination of
nuclear weapons.
The ascension of the secretive and Stalinist state to the
monthly rotating presidency of the 65-member United Nations-backed
talks got the cold shoulder from other countries and drew criticism
from human rights groups and dissidents.
Canada did not attend the session, having promised to boycott
the chairmanship of what it called a "major proliferator of nuclear
weapons.
Not that this is the first time the UN has entertained the world
with self-parody. Over the years the various human rights
bodies have incorporated as members and even leaders some of the
world's worst human rights abusers. And the UN
has routinely praised persecutors as great progressives.
Who needs Saturday Night Live when you have the UN?
I seem to recall reading that while Canada refused to attend
this session it's neighbor to the south did.

Hans Brix? Herro! We've been frew this a dozen times. I don't

Is there any point of hoping that the UN will be moved to
Europe? Is it possible and probable that someday we can remove this
'parasite on the world' and on our economy to where it would be
preaching to the choir? Or is this just a pipedream? This
organization has turned into a comedy show, it's like putting
Stalin in charge of global free speech commission. Does anyone know
how much the UN and its related junk cost the NYC and the US per
year? I would be interested to know, maybe that is something that
can be cut from the budget.

Sir.
I echo Fast Johnny. At the moment we are threatened with the
non-payment of Social Security, how can the USA pay into the UN?
The UN is luxury of the days of the "Perceived Affluence" of the
'50's/"60's. It is time to cut our losses
For those believers in the sanctity of the "Full Faith and Credit
of the USA", let me remain you of the Vietnamese and the Church
Amendment. If we can cut the throats of an Ally, we can cut off the
Tower of Babel. We can not afford this.

How much of our money goes to these bozos ?
glenny44| 8.5.11 @ 12:20PM
United Nations????
I'd like to suggest the "Council of Democracies". You know, U.S.,
UK, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Japan, S Korea, Taiwan,
Canada, etc etc etc and ISRAEL (!!!!!!!!!!!!!). We decide who gets
in, nobody else. Not China, not Cuba, not Venezuela, not Iran, not
Yemen, not Saudi Arabia, etc.

Defund the UN!

I checked his website and couldn't find it, but I remember a
devastating cartoon of the U.N. general assembly done years ago by
Jeff MacNelly. I don't recall the punch line, but I remember it had
such countries as Diddywadiddystan.

I was looking for information on how much it costs us to, not
only pay into but host the UN on our soil. I haven't come across it
yet. Anyone finding it, I would appreciate hearing about it.
Some time ago, I remember reading about the amount of money that
is dumped into the hole in the ground called the UN and it was
astounding. The article talked about not only what we pay into it,
but the costs of hosting it, lost tax revenue for NYC, huge amounts
of money paid into housing for diplomats and a whole bunch of other
things. I also remember an article about the epidemic of parking
violations by diplomatically immune UN employees, their families
and entourages. Not to mention the crimes committed by their
dependants and assistants that go unprosecuted. This UN thing is
only slightly more effective than the League of Nations. It has
become the laughing stock of the world and a voice for oppressive
regimes. These people sit around all day and figure out what they
can do to screw Israel, lambaste the US and rationalize oppressive
and murderous behavior so they can feel good about themselves.

Easy enough for Canada to play "Holier than thou." They have the
workhorse U.S. to shoulder the heavy-duty military stuff for
them.
P.S. In the list of U.N. costs, don't forget to insert UNICEF
and UNESCO.
