President Obama has no intention of allowing the U.S. government
to default on its financial obligations regardless of whether the
government’s borrowing limit is raised, Charlie Gasparino of Fox
Business
reports.
This means that the president has been bargaining in bad faith
with congressional leaders by raising the specter of a default,
knowing full well he won’t allow it to happen. This is another way
of putting it: the president has been lying to the nation.
As Gasparino writes
While officials from the Obama Administration raised their
rhetoric over the weekend about the possibility of a debt default
if the debt ceiling isn’t raised, they privately have been telling
top executives at major U.S. banks that such an event won’t happen,
FOX Business has learned.
In a series of phone calls, administration officials have told
bankers that the administration will not allow a default to happen
even if the debt cap isn’t raised by the August 2 date Treasury
Secretary Tim Geithner says the government will run out of money to
pay all its bills, including obligations to bond holders. Geithner
made the rounds on the Sunday talk shows saying a default is
imminent if the debt ceiling isn’t raised, and President Obama
issued a similar warning during a Friday press conference after
budget negotiations with House Republicans broke down.
It’s business as usual for Obama. The truth is just an obstacle
on the road to socialist utopia.
Rules for Radicals author Saul Alinsky would be so
proud.

America needs to know that ACORN is restructuring in time to
help re-elect President Obama in 2012. Obama used to work for ACORN
and represented the group in court as its lawyer. These radical
leftists who use the brutal, in-your-face, pressure tactics of Saul
Alinsky want to destroy America as we know it and will use any
means to do it.

I have a Plan. No more Plans.
I put out my FINAL PROPOSAL, and I tell the world: THAT'S IT. The President has NO PLAN. The President has put NOTHING on paper.
His "Plan" is, obviously, to attack My Plans. He wants another "BIG DEAL" because we're facing another "CRISIS" and he wants it done "YESTERDAY".
That's how we got a $900 Billion SLUSH FUND, for his Union pals. Oh, it was SUPPOSED to be for "Shovel Ready Infrastructure Jobs", but that was a LIE. Shovel Ready is really just a PUNCH LINE in a JOKE, told at Democrat Fund Raisers.
We needed a "BIG DEAL" to save Health Care. Health Care was a "CRISIS" and we needed to get it done "YESTERDAY".
"But nobody's even READ IT yet."
NO TIME! We gotta get it done. You can read it AFTER it's passed. Trust me. It saves you money, you can keep your own Doctor, and you'll never see any of my supporters, lining up for WAIVERS, because it's THAT GOOD.
Of course, that was a LIE.
And, now we need to get on the stick, because, the world as we know it, will END, come August 2.
And, of course, that, too, is a LIE.
It's not smart,, except his WORD.
It's not SMART, to 'Negotiate' with a guy who has NOTHING to negotiate WITH, except his word.
But, to do so when YOU KNOW, that everything out of his mouth, is a LIE?
That's insane.
Give him what you've got, and if he wants to VETO it? Let him. If he THREATENS to VETO it?
Call his BLUFF, Eric.

Charlie Wilson said it best during the state of the union speech by King O: "You lie!"
Elaine Luiz| 7.27.11 @ 8:49AM
That was JOE Wilson!!!
Pecos Pete| 7.27.11 @ 8:55AM
OOPS. Elaine is correct. I be wrong. It was JOE Wilson and he was absolutely correct.
Thanks Elaine for correcting my first cup of coffee's failure to spin up my brain.

Let us be fair, as bill o'reilly says, obama does have a plan:
1. eliminate the 5 year depreciation schedule on corporate jets. this may save 300 million.
2. create a special tax rate for hedge fund managers. how many are there?
3. force "rich" persons like himself to take the standard deduction rather than itemize to cut taxes. he believes that now you are forced to take deductions.
Louis Tully| 7.27.11 @ 10:24AM
Of course he is lying.
But why is the GOP leadership promoting the lie? Boehner has over and over and over again endorsed the lie as cover for his various "plans" to permit the feral government to continue borrowing. ALL of official Washington, including the GOP, is lying to the people to get another unpalatable deal done, a la TARP.

Louis, correct. There is MUCH deceit to be found in the District of Corruption (and Thieves).
We are all lied to daily. (Our governors and state legislators do the same.)
And that is why this nation needs a new course entirely.
Mimi| 7.27.11 @ 11:16AM
The lie to Social Security folks "You may not get your monthly check" is the gretest and the MOST devastating for "O".
By now how many son's and daughters have made arrangements for Mom or Dad to have a room in their house....EVERY houshold in America in chaos... Republican and YES..Democrat too!!!
As we teach our children LIES have consequences and most likely fond out! Think, of the expression on the"O"s and Timothy Gietners face as they told this LIE, or THREAT to the vunerable. This is the BIG one.....MARK my words!
William| 7.27.11 @ 2:06PM
I'm no fan of Obama's, but "So What."? Lying is a routine part of politics. Do you think all the legislators are telling the "truth" about how they will vote on extending the debt limit if push comes to shove? Obama's not much good at negotiating, but even he is smart enough not to tell the other side his bottom line before negotiating.
It matters| 7.27.11 @ 3:07PM
"I'm no fan of Obama's, but 'So What?' Lying is a routine...."
And that is the SO WHAT.
It is routine, William.
How long will you and I stay in in business together as partners if my lying to you is "routine?"
How long before you put a shotgun to my head -- as your son-in-law -- and tell me to "leave and never return" if my lying to your daughter is "routine?"
How many years will you spend in jail for pulling that shotgun trigger on me, your family doctor, for making lying "routine" when providing "care" for your family (to include lying about your wife's terminal cancer conditions)
Will you promise not to run me out of town even though I made "lying routine" as your banker handling your mortgage for you and now you've been forced to foreclose? (yes, due to my errors...my incompetence....my laziness...and lies)
Will you just smile and -- immediately -- leave the office premises with a gleeful gait in your step when I've been lying to you for the last 24 months as your boss and now you've been "terminated?" (no notice, no severance, and certainly no positive referrals from this firm!)
We've got a problem, William, when an American like you sees routine deceit as just "So what?"
William| 7.27.11 @ 4:10PM
My point -- apparently not well made -- is that the article singled out Obama for conduct that is accepted as routine in Washington. As such, the indignation reflected in the article did not seem credible.
No doubt the practice of lying is out of control among politicians. On the other hand, we can't expect them to be saints. It is common practice in negotiations that each side tries to persuade the other that they will only accept something MORE than what that side (secretly) knows it will accept if it can't get more. Maybe a better word for this is dissembling: You try to convince the other side that the deal must be made at some level GREATER than that which you know you will accept if you have to. One thing you do NOT do is tell the other side at the outset what your bottom line is, as then you will have no hope of achieving a deal better than your minimum.
The article criticizes Obama for not telling everyone that, if necessary, he would accept or do ANYTHING to avoid a default. I don't know if this is really his bottom line, but even if it is, why would he announce this to the world?

Mr. Vadum,
Thank you for this information.
On the subject of ACORN and its restructuring, please aid us with what the new ACORN names (acronyms) will be. I imagine that this will be regionally dependent, i.e. an "ACORN" outfit in Louisiana will be under a different name than ACORN Brotherhood outfits in Washington State, Arizona, and Ohio.
To combat them and thwart them, we will have to be smart. Please help us with the "intel" so we'll know how to best engage in the fight. Thank you.
Matthew Vadum | 7.27.11 @ 8:28PM
There is a list of the "new" ACORN groups in my book Subversion Inc. but every few days I find a new one.
