Despite the fact a bomb exploded near the office of Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and that there has also been a shooting at a retreat of the governing Labour Party's youth wing at which the Prime Minister was apparently scheduled to attend, Stoltenberg says it's too early to call it an act of terrorism.

So how exactly would Stoltenberg care to characterize these events of which he might very well have been a target?

Well, I suppose he could call it one of those "man-caused disasters."

UPDATE: Well, Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami doesn't think it's to early to call it an act of terrorism citing amongst other things "unspecified insults to the Prophet Muhammad." (H/T to Charlie Cooke of National Review.)

Too early? I suspect you must be talking "tongue in cheek." If the West ever got ruthless this sort of thing would be discouraged because the reaction would be so severe that it wouldn't be worth it.

My best guess would be a couple of lone middle-aged white men. You know the purchasers of gold, Ron Paul supporters (or the Norwegian equivalent), ex military, or Christians.

I'm wagering they're either Grand Poobah's of the Lions Club or angry homophobic Sarah Palin bitter clingers who drank too much Snapple.

Newsflash: Authorities in Oslo are holding and questioning an American Tourist, Robert McVeigh Grant.
Police Inspector Knute Rockne says Grant has confessed to trying to blow up his stockbroker's office, near The Prime Minister's Office.
Stockbroker Thor "Thorney " Smelt took Grant out ff gold & invested all his portfolio in Borders Books a few weeks ago. Borders is now in the process of liquidation.

Asked by reporters for a comment, Grant said, " I should have listened To Dr.Ron Paul, damn if he wasn't right about gold & The FED".

I think the appropriate response is several W-80 warheads delivered directly to appropriate locations throughout the Muslim world.

I think that would send a meaningful response and demonstrate proper respect to Islam and "The Prophet."

Watch this story carefully. I am taking bets it falls off the radar as soon as it IS confirmed it was muslim terrorists.

Despite Repeated Attempts by AL Qaeda's Top Lieutenant To Take Credit in Norwegian Bombings and Unexploded Casings With Label "Propery of Al Qaeda" at the Site, Norwegian Officials Say it's Way Too Early to Say it's Terrorism

In another press release the PM of Norway also indicated it was too early say if Hitler was responsible for the 1940 invasion of Norway...

Stoltenberg , the PM of Norway, indicated it was too early to say if Alaric I was responsible for the Sacking of Rome in 410AD.

"We must not jump to conclusions. Perhaps it was a just a gang of perturbed and misguided Møøse."

No wonder the Norwegian ruling socialists cannot believe that it was jihadis who attacked them. They gave a Nobel Peace Prize to the then #1 terrorist in the world Arafat. Then they gave the prize to that bloviating gasbag Carter; then to that functional moron Gore; then to Mullah Obama. And I bet they were discussing the next possible recipients among the bosses of Hezbollah or Hamas, and also perhaps the posthumous award to Osama bin Laden. So why the attack now?

We Hear It Was A Pissed Off Norwegian Military Veteran With An Ax To Grind, Against The Government.

Calvin| 7.22.11 @ 9:59PM

Now do you see why the government kept its tongue in cheek? Rather than spouting wild rumors and spreading panic they investigated and found not a jihadi, but a homegrown terrorist. Frankly, I believe that's the proper way to respond to an attack.

Bob Grant| 7.22.11 @ 10:19PM

Eh. I'm a numbers man. And the numbers tell me I blame usual suspects. Muslims don't deserve the benefit of doubt. Go a few years without blowing stuff up or beheading people, then we'll talk.

Occam's Tool| 7.22.11 @ 10:23PM

Every rape in Norway in 2010 that was solved was committed by a Muslim. Don't worry, the terror attacks are coming. There are Muslim controlled police no-go zones in Oslo now.

The Norwegian attack was conducted by a white Christian terrorist. Aaron Goldstein and the vicious commentators on this website should learn from the Norwegian PM.

PsychoDad| 7.24.11 @ 4:53PM

Yes, and soon as they figured out it was not a Mohammedan, they were comfortable calling it "terrorism."

Obviously, we have to start profiling white Christian Norwegians with at least the scrupulousness we have profiled Mohammedans.
