GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has asked Politico (which failed to “regret the error”) to correct a quote cited in no less than six of its articles about his position on global warming. Here’s how Politico has been relaying it:

“I think it’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants, of greenhouse gases…”

Romney’s campaign said it should read:

“I think it’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases…”

The campaign contends there is an “important distinction” between pollutants and greenhouse gases, in the context of global warming and regulation of the invisible gases:

“Gov. Romney does not think greenhouse gases are pollutants within the meaning of the Clean Air Act, and he does not believe that the EPA should be regulating them,” said Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul. “CO2 is a naturally occurring gas. Humans emit it every time they exhale.”

Maybe not, but what’s the difference? He believes they should be limited just like real pollutants, so whether or not he calls them that is irrelevant. He may want to go about it a different way, but however he would do it, it would cause the costs of fossil fuel energy to skyrocket.

Romney has been "brainwashed", just like his father.

Shamus| 7.20.11 @ 5:59AM

Romney is a modest man, with much to be modest about.

Paul McGrath| 7.19.11 @ 12:01PM

Romney is not the answer.

LarryK| 7.19.11 @ 1:43PM

Depends on the question.

ie, If this person is the Republican nomination for president would force me to stay home on election day?

Wayne | 7.19.11 @ 2:42PM

Nope, I would just write in a name. Anyone who gets taken in by the AGW scam is either dumb or an insider.

JP| 7.19.11 @ 3:15PM

Mitt isn't dumb. He's a Fellow Traveler.

Chuck| 7.19.11 @ 12:22PM

Down to the nitty gritty, the early primaries/caucuses of note Iowa, NH, SC and Fla. Romney loses Iowa and SC, wins NH therefore Fla is the eliminator. I recommend the Tea Party and other anti-Romney forces marshal their political strength in Fla. Losing Fla will end the Romney campaign, winning it he's the nominee. It's FLORIDA!

Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 7.19.11 @ 12:49PM

For this and this alone he should not be the nominee.

On another note, he and his friends probably have millions invested in green hoaxes.

Once a Socialist, always a Socialist...

The only difference is that if CO2 isn't already cover by the Clean Air Act then it would take Congress to regulate it, a much higher hurdle than EPA.

JimH| 7.19.11 @ 1:12PM

I guess Herman Cain, mathematician and Ron Paul, MD are the closest we have among the candidates to scientists. I don’t recall hearing from either regarding AGW. Anyone know their positions?

Louis Tully| 7.19.11 @ 1:17PM

the quintessential big government Republican.

Wouldn't vote for him, or any like him, for dog catcher.

Bob| 7.19.11 @ 1:31PM

Bachmann is a daily emotional wreck lost in a world of pills hospitalized several times. I wonder if she had any electrical shock therapy like Eagleton.

Wayne | 7.19.11 @ 2:40PM

So migraines is now to be used to smear a candidate. Straight out of Alinski. Next you know we may elect a candidate who used cocaine.

JP| 7.19.11 @ 3:18PM

Bob, it would not surprise me in the least if the migraine rumors orginated in Mitt's camp. As Wayne said, better to have migraines than to have a history of snorting blow.

Bob| 7.19.11 @ 3:30PM

Yesterday Michele admantly refused to vote for a debt-ceiling increase and today she pledges support for "Cut, Cap and Balance" which at the end of the day raises the debt-ceiling. Also Jim DeMint supports "Cut, Cap and Balance". Migraine Michele had another one, Jim DeMint had one too and when the news gets out the Tea Party will have one...the migraine trifecta. Thank you Republicans you always cave in and we win.

Can Romney restore our democracy after the 2008 Coup d'etat?

A military Coup took place with the introduction of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate.

Obama is not the president, he’s the acting president. He disappeared for 2 weeks after his election win only to reappear looking exhausted sitting next to John McCain, with a bad poker face, for a press photo shoot. He has been turned into a Pentagon puppet ever since.

Too many stories in the news are completely fabricated to generate chatter for the feds. They have the majority of comments on many news sites and are actively involved in the moderation of sites since the “death” of Osama Bin Laden.

Osama Bin Laden is a code. It appears he was created by the New World Order. The New World Order consists of some of the richest people in the world with the goal of overthrowing the US government, some from inside our own government. They are also trying to collapse our currency and are behind all of the “buy gold” hype, not to mention thousands of money making opportunities online and late night infomercials. They are positioned to make billions by collapsing our economy.

The attacks on 9/11 appear to be attacks on capitalism. The people that make up the New World Order are media moguls, CEO’s and many others. There’s also a reason why all the CEOs who ran in the last midterm didn’t get elected either.

You will not read about this in the media since most of the media has been forced to cooperate or has been paid to cooperate.

What you’re about to learn is true and not embellished in anyway. Here’s what Obama, Osama, Biden, Bin Laden, the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists, and Sarah Palin have to do with the last election and the military’s overthrow of our government.

Typical establishment republican trying to play both sides against the middle for political gain. We have followed them to defeat too often to follow them again. Mitt, go away.

Occam's Tool| 7.19.11 @ 4:34PM

"Mitt" happens.

Thom| 7.19.11 @ 5:23PM

This is the man that promised to repeal King ObamaCare with an executive order….. Anyone not know why this can’t happen and why Mitt is apparently clueless about the fundamental power differences between the three branches of the Federal Government?

RINOs have been running the GOP for almost 80 years. They are weak carbon copies of Democrats, but even harder to dislodge.

I don't think there has EVER, in the recorded history of humanity, been a group of people so brazenly and viciously perfidious to their supporters as RINOs. What's more, they have paid almost no political price.

The Boomers, in staring at their navels for decades, allowed Democrat radicals and RINO enablers to become so entrenched as to be almost immovable. We'll need a miracle to beat these creeps--RINOs and Dems alike.

God save the country, because that's what it's going to take.
