The Washington Post
reports that Senate leaders from both parties are working on a
debt limit measure that would be grossly complex. In short, the
idea is to add $1.5 in discretionary budget cuts (but not the ones
Republicans wanted) to the already-convoluted McConnell plan for
raising the ceiling, and then provide for a "new committee of 12
lawmakers, which would issue a report to Congress by the end of the
year on how to cut trillions more from federal deficits over the
next 10 years."
Each feature of this complicated plan is designed so that one or
more party can avoid accountability or place blame on another
group. The idea that a new report-issuing committee would be
helpful is especially laughable -- as if the Bowles-Simpson
committee had never happened.
Of course, Bowles-Simpson was a way for President Obama to avoid
any responsibility. It was successful in that respect, and another
incarnation would also probably be just as good for that
purpose.
Obama has no principles, hence no morals. He would applaud any
pragmatic(non-value based) approach to any problem so long as it
furthered his goal to establish tyrannical Solcialism(an
unprincipled, amoral system).

Sorry about my first post. It was meant for another thread, but
applies nonetheless.
Isn't it amazing that none of the main players in this debt
drama are anxious to take the lead, and accolades, of their
solutions? They all want the wiggle room to point fingers in case
things blow up.
I mean, McConnell's ploy is not to solve the underlying problem.
It's goal is to stick it to Obama while remaining blameless
himself. If adopted, it will backfire, of course.
There should be no compromise on the debt ceiling, period.
That's why Krauthammer's plan is ridiculous, too. If there are
$500B available to be cut, then why does the debt have to be raised
by an exact amount? Hell, why not just lower the ceiling
instead?
It's as simple as this. If spending cuts are available, they
should be made. If they are made, we don't need no more stinking
debt!!!

Lower taxes to increase revenues (X=2Y. Therefore, .23 X>

Get rid of all Cabinet Level Departments except, State, Defense,
State, Interior. Subsume other Cabinet level Department's functions
under those four. (Look at how the CVabinet posts grew
sometime---fascinating).
Repeal ObamaCare, institute Tort Reform with Safe harbors that

November 28, 2010:
"I have two simple proposals when the new Congress convenes in
January. First, refuse to raise the debt ceiling. Find a way, month
by month, for Congress to spend only what the Treasury raises in
revenue. Second, start over from scratch with the 13 appropriations
bills that fund the federal government. Reject any talk of baseline
budgets or discretionary spending. It is all discretionary, and
members of both parties should vote against any 2012 appropriation
bill that is not at least 10% smaller – in nominal dollars – than
its 2011 counterpart."

Damn all of them (democrats and republicans). they do not care
about the people or the country. Only about their own rearends and
that of their respective party.

We the people want the existing structures of government (the
way it is set up under the US Constitution) to do the governing.
This entire concept of the elected reps then getting together and
setting up subcommisions, commtittees, task forces, and panels to
do the governing, in some cases being set up to have power over
congress itself, is illegal.
Congress People: have some guts and do the governing yourselves
or you will be replaced by someone who will.
