Ron Paul announced earlier today that he will not be running for
reelection to his House seat, focusing instead on his 2012
Republican presidential campaign. In an
interview with a local publication, Paul said it was time to
change tactics.
The torch will in all likelihood be passed to his son, Sen. Rand
Paul, who released this statement: "History will record the
legislative record of Ron Paul as an extraordinary one - perhaps
unparalleled. There probably has never been a more consistent
believer in limited government in Congress. America deserves a
statesman like Ron Paul as her president, a man I am proud to call
my father."
Other than, say, the vastly deservedly more famous Thomas
Jefferson in the Continental Congress.
Paul was a worthless blowhard; a fringe element, and a friend to
Nazis everywhere.
Shane| 7.12.11 @ 2:16PM
How is Ron Paul a friend to Nazis? Hasn't be consistently
advocated against totalitarian policies throughout his career in
congress.
You must be an idiot using empty insults because you lack the
intellect to criticize Ron Paul on actual issues. A common
technique of dishonest people.
"and takes donations from Nazi affiliated
organizations"
What you are referring to is the $500 donation he received from
Don Black, founder of the Stormfront website. He had no idea who
Don Black was when the check came in. How would he? A large
campaign processes a lot of checks every day. What he didn't do is
return the $500 once it was discovered that the guy had donated it.
Not returning the check was absolutely the right thing to do and
was one of the prouder moments of his 2008 campaign, in my opinion.
Returning donations from tainted donors is ALWAYS and act of
grandstanding and a** covering. Nothing more. Money is fungible.
You can't return that person's donation even if you wanted to. What
you do is make a $500 withdrawal from your balance sheet to satiate
the braying PC thought policers. It is dancing to the PC Gestapo's
tune. The PC Cultural Marxist say jump and you say how high. This
is disgraceful. And I say this whether it is giving money back to
someone who is later found to be a criminal or someone who has
committed wrongthink, right or left. If some Commie gave Nancy
Pelosi a check, I would feel the same way because the whole
spectacle is meaningless, and it contributes to a culture of
thought enforcement.
Also, where do you draw the line? If you give back Don Black's
money, what's to keep the wrongthink police from demanding you give
back the money from someone who belongs to a Southern heritage
group or a politically incorrect ultraconservative religious
denomination, etc.?
So find a new smear, or better yet, formulate a logical
argument.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 7:52PM
By the way, Ron Paul is originally from Pennsylvania. There has
been one President from Pennsylvania. Who was he, and what was his
overall ranking? (So far)
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 5:47PM
No, Shane. Here we go:
1)Ron Paul votes for earmarks. Lots of them.
2)Ron Paul favors drug legalization. I see the damage caused by
drugs every day. He's an idiot on this subject, with vastly
inferior Clinical skills to mine.
3) Ron Paul voted not to defund Hamas. Check H. 269, 2011.
4) My SAT in 1979 was 1420. My ACT was 33. I was in Mensa. What
were your scores?
5) Red, you strongly resemble Burton K Wheeler, with the same
easily predictable disasters for the US.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 5:48PM
Sorry, H 268. His vote was essentially in favor of spending on
Hamas.
1.) He does not "vote" for earmarks. He places earmarks in
legislation on behalf of his constituents, and ALWAYS votes against
the final bill. I don't condone this practice myself, but I don't
have constituents.
2.) I don't favor drug legalization at the state level. I think
it would be a disaster. But the Constitution DOES NOT authorize
drug regulation at the federal level. If the Constitution
authorizes drug regulation at the federal level then why did we
have to pass an amendment to ban alcohol? Clearly you have to admit
this. So drug laws should be de-federalized. States could then do
what they think is best.
3.) You will have to provide me a link re. Hamas because my
Google search didn't turn up what you are talking about, but YOU
KNOW that Ron Paul opposes ALL foreign aid, both to Israel and
Israel's enemies, so if he voted "not to defund Hamas" it must have
been because the overall bill was bad. You are hence being
deceptive.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 7:16PM
Red, here's a problem in logic/ethics for you. If you know a
spending bill is going to pass, and you put an earmark in it to
make it more expensive, and then you vote against it, what does
that make you, ethically?
Have fun. Have you read Gulliver's Travels? Do you recall the
test to become a Government Minister in Lilliput? That's what you
Ron Paul guys remind me of.
By the way, signing autographs for the son of the Head of
Stormfront while posing for photos with dad is not something any of
the other Republican Presidential Candidates have in their photo
portfolio. But it's in Paul's.
Occam, you misunderstand earmarks. They DO NOT make a spending
bill more expensive. They simply specifically designate how money
in a particular bill is to be spent.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 9:54PM
Really. So it's important to divert funds for another monument

Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 10:23PM

secular (I have the PRECISE quote Red---do we need to go through
this BS again?), or he's a racist asswipe.
Either disqualifies him. Quite frankly, I didn't give Obama

By the way, Red, I dislike being called a liar, especially by
someone who allies himself with Clint. I am entitled to my own
opinion, but not my own facts. Neither are you. Stop being such an
ignorant asshat.
You are being disingenuous to score political points. He did not
vote against defunding Hamas, which he clearly supports and you
know it. He supports defunding just about everything. Here is the
description of the bill.
"Reaffirming the United States' commitment to a negotiated
settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through direct
Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, and for other purposes."
He believes we should be neutral and stay out of their affairs.
Clearly he is going to vote against this. Where does the Congress
of the United States get the authority to opine on some other
countries negotiating a settlement?
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 9:58PM
He voted against cutting Hamas' budget if they continue
terrorist acts. Red, I wish you had been my principal in high
school. I would have gotten away with shit like you would not
believe.
Recall the tightroping Ministers of Jonathan Swift.
So he was supposed to vote for a bill he considered bad in toto
so that opportunist like you couldn't accuse him of not voting to

Brave Muslim Betrayed by Obama Takes Rap for Bin Laden
Kill
By Debbie Schlussel
Shakil Afridi is the rare pro-American Muslim who risked his
life for America and might lose his life for it. Today, this
medical doctor who helped the U.S. confirm that Osama Bin Laden was
the guy living in that crappy Paki mansion . . . well, he sits in a
Pakistani prison awaiting his fate. He committed the ultimate crime
of helping the evil great Satan America assassinate Islam’s
greatest hero, Bin Laden. And, per usual, we betray the Muslims who
truly risk everything to do the right thing. . . and we befriend
those Muslims (the majority) who would slit our throats in an
instant, given the opportunity.
Since Dr. Afridi’s role in the Bin Laden kill was so
important–and since he holds a senior government health post in
Pakistan–it’s obvious that this man’s life would be in danger
thereafter. So why didn’t Barack Obama, the CIA, and others
involved make plans to evacuate the doctor with them or otherwise
secrete him out of the country? Perhaps he didn’t want to go. But
that’s unlikely, since he’d have to know that once he was found out
it, the whole country would want to kill him. I do know, from my
own experience representing the few moderate Muslims who actually
exist and risk their lives to help the U.S. that we generally
betray them (read about what America did to my Muslim clients, here
and here), preferring to hug the HAMASniks at CAIR Action Network
and “former” terrorists like Imad Hamad of ADC, who urged Detroit
Muslims to go to a memorial service for the late leader of
Hezbollah, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah.
And one thing is certain: if we don’t get Dr. Afridi out of
Pakistan, he will die, either at the hands of the government or at
the hands of his countrymen, most of whom love Bin Laden and are
enraged that we killed him on their soil and did it so skillfully
and stealthily. The full names of nurses who helped him in getting
Bin Laden’s DNA from the crappy Paki “mansion” are now being leaked
all over anti-Semitic, extremist Paki websites. These people will
be murdered for helping us.
More:
Pakistani authorities have jailed a doctor who worked for the
CIA before the raid that killed Osama bin Laden to create an
elaborate plot to get DNA samples from those living at the al-Qaida
leader’s compound, as part of U.S. efforts to verify that bin Laden
was there.
The doctor, Shakil Afridi, who holds a senior government health
post in Pakistan, used nurses, who were able to gain entry to the
residence on the pretext of giving vaccinations to children living
there, according to Pakistani and U.S. officials and local
residents. . . .
The doctor’s detention has added to the tension, and American
authorities are thought to have intervened on his behalf. . . .
The doctor apparently is the only person still under arrest. His
story provides previously unknown details about the lengths the CIA
went to as it tried to confirm suspicions that bin Laden was hiding
in the compound.
The doctor’s role was to help American officials know with
certainty that bin Laden was in the compound, according to security
officials and residents in Abbottabad, all of whom spoke only on
the condition of anonymity because they feared government
retribution. . . .
The doctor was tasked with collecting DNA samples from those
living in the house. A sample from any of the bin Laden children or
grandchildren could be compared with DNA extracted from bin Laden’s
sister, who died last year in a hospital in Boston.
Let’s say you were one of the infinitesmally small number of
Muslims who would really risk their lives to help the West. Let’s
say you read about Dr. Afridi rotting in a Paki jail hellhole and
likely to face death, especially if he is released to freedom to
the ire of his jihadist countrymen. After learning about his fate,
would you still risk your life to help America?
This isn’t how we get Muslim spies and friends to help us,
that’s for sure. It’s how we get them to turn away."

No, my problem with Paul is also about drug legalization, as
well. He was an OB/Gyn. I'm a psychiatrist. What he knows about
treating drug abuse could fit into my little finger.
Occam, I'm ASAM Certified. I know about treating addiction. I
think legalizing drugs would be a disaster. BUT, federal drug laws
are UNCONSTITUTIONAL. (The FDA and DEA are unconstitutional for
that matter.) What you or I know or don't know about treating drug
addiction has nothing to do with the Constitution. Regulating drugs
IS NOT an authorized federal function. Period.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 6:55PM
I'm surprised, Red. Regulating Drugs is an interstate commerce
matter. Again, Paul is an ignoramus. In addition, he favors drug
LEGALIZATION. Forget FDA and DEA. Assume your constitutional rules
hold sway. Forget Wickard V. Filburn (although Patent Drug sales
ARE a huge case of interstate commerce---unless you argue that
Zoloft is sold only in New York, and Prozac is confined to
Indiana).
The boy still supports legalizing drugs, period. And his foreign
policy completely ignores the chaos and bloodshed that will ensue.
It also ignores a disease theory approach that works in
international affairs as it does in Medicine---that it is best to
deal with problems when small.
But to get back to Paul quotes on legalization of drugs:
Ron Paul on the issues: Q: In your 1988 campaign you said, “All
drugs should be decriminalized. Drugs should be distributed by any
adult to other adults. There should be no controls on production,
supply or purchase for adults.” Is that still your position?
A: Yeah. It’s sort of like alcohol. Alcohol’s a deadly drug, kills
more people than anything else. And today the absurdity on this war
on drugs has just been horrible."
One can always hold to perfect philosophical positions in places
where the perfect does not, cannot , apply. The outcome of that is
disaster, as well.

Occam, if the Feds can ban drugs based on the commerce clause,
then why was it necessary to pass an amendment to ban alcohol? Was
the Prohibition Amendment unnecessary? (This is a point Jim Antle
has made before here.) You do realize that a broad reading of the
Commerce Clause is what liberals do.
The Constitution specifically authorizes patents, but the
purpose of the Commerce Clause was to prevent interstate tariffs
and allow for the free flow of goods between states, not to allow
unlimited regulation of all commerce. Again, you do realize that is
the liberal interpretation.

"and takes donations from Nazi affiliated organizations"
What you are referring to is the $500 donation he received from Don Black, founder of the Stormfront website. He had no idea who Don Black was when the check came in. How would he? A large campaign processes a lot of checks every day. What he didn't do is return the $500 once it was discovered that the guy had donated it. Not returning the check was absolutely the right thing to do and was one of the prouder moments of his 2008 campaign, in my opinion. Returning donations from tainted donors is ALWAYS and act of grandstanding and a** covering. Nothing more. Money is fungible. You can't return that person's donation even if you wanted to. What you do is make a $500 withdrawal from your balance sheet to satiate the braying PC thought policers. It is dancing to the PC Gestapo's tune. The PC Cultural Marxist say jump and you say how high. This is disgraceful. And I say this whether it is giving money back to someone who is later found to be a criminal or someone who has committed wrongthink, right or left. If some Commie gave Nancy Pelosi a check, I would feel the same way because the whole spectacle is meaningless, and it contributes to a culture of thought enforcement.
Also, where do you draw the line? If you give back Don Black's money, what's to keep the wrongthink police from demanding you give back the money from someone who belongs to a Southern heritage group or a politically incorrect ultraconservative religious denomination, etc.?
So find a new smear, or better yet, formulate a logical argument.

Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 5:47PM
No, Shane. Here we go:
1)Ron Paul votes for earmarks. Lots of them.
2)Ron Paul favors drug legalization. I see the damage caused by drugs every day. He's an idiot on this subject, with vastly inferior Clinical skills to mine.
3) Ron Paul voted not to defund Hamas. Check H. 269, 2011.
4) My SAT in 1979 was 1420. My ACT was 33. I was in Mensa. What were your scores?
5) Red, you strongly resemble Burton K Wheeler, with the same easily predictable disasters for the US.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 5:48PM
Sorry, H 268. His vote was essentially in favor of spending on Hamas.
Red Phillips| 7.12.11 @ 6:26PM
1.) He does not "vote" for earmarks. He places earmarks in legislation on behalf of his constituents, and ALWAYS votes against the final bill. I don't condone this practice myself, but I don't have constituents.
2.) I don't favor drug legalization at the state level. I think it would be a disaster. But the Constitution DOES NOT authorize drug regulation at the federal level. If the Constitution authorizes drug regulation at the federal level then why did we have to pass an amendment to ban alcohol? Clearly you have to admit this. So drug laws should be de-federalized. States could then do what they think is best.
3.) You will have to provide me a link re. Hamas because my Google search didn't turn up what you are talking about, but YOU KNOW that Ron Paul opposes ALL foreign aid, both to Israel and Israel's enemies, so if he voted "not to defund Hamas" it must have been because the overall bill was bad. You are hence being deceptive.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 7:16PM
Red, here's a problem in logic/ethics for you. If you know a spending bill is going to pass, and you put an earmark in it to make it more expensive, and then you vote against it, what does that make you, ethically?
Have fun. Have you read Gulliver's Travels? Do you recall the test to become a Government Minister in Lilliput? That's what you Ron Paul guys remind me of.
By the way, signing autographs for the son of the Head of Stormfront while posing for photos with dad is not something any of the other Republican Presidential Candidates have in their photo portfolio. But it's in Paul's.
Red Phillips| 7.12.11 @ 7:56PM
Occam, you misunderstand earmarks. They DO NOT make a spending bill more expensive. They simply specifically designate how money in a particular bill is to be spent.

"Reaffirming the United States' commitment to a negotiated settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, and for other purposes."
He believes we should be neutral and stay out of their affairs. Clearly he is going to vote against this. Where does the Congress of the United States get the authority to opine on some other countries negotiating a settlement?

Brave Muslim Betrayed by Obama Takes Rap for Bin Laden Kill
By Debbie Schlussel
Shakil Afridi is the rare pro-American Muslim who risked his life for America and might lose his life for it. Today, this medical doctor who helped the U.S. confirm that Osama Bin Laden was the guy living in that crappy Paki mansion . . . well, he sits in a Pakistani prison awaiting his fate. He committed the ultimate crime of helping the evil great Satan America assassinate Islam’s greatest hero, Bin Laden. And, per usual, we betray the Muslims who truly risk everything to do the right thing. . . and we befriend those Muslims (the majority) who would slit our throats in an instant, given the opportunity.
Barack Obama & CIA’s Pannetta (Now SecDef) Betrayed Dr. Shakil Afridi
Since Dr. Afridi’s role in the Bin Laden kill was so important–and since he holds a senior government health post in Pakistan–it’s obvious that this man’s life would be in danger thereafter. So why didn’t Barack Obama, the CIA, and others involved make plans to evacuate the doctor with them or otherwise secrete him out of the country? Perhaps he didn’t want to go. But that’s unlikely, since he’d have to know that once he was found out it, the whole country would want to kill him. I do know, from my own experience representing the few moderate Muslims who actually exist and risk their lives to help the U.S. that we generally betray them (read about what America did to my Muslim clients, here and here), preferring to hug the HAMASniks at CAIR Action Network and “former” terrorists like Imad Hamad of ADC, who urged Detroit Muslims to go to a memorial service for the late leader of Hezbollah, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah.
And one thing is certain: if we don’t get Dr. Afridi out of Pakistan, he will die, either at the hands of the government or at the hands of his countrymen, most of whom love Bin Laden and are enraged that we killed him on their soil and did it so skillfully and stealthily. The full names of nurses who helped him in getting Bin Laden’s DNA from the crappy Paki “mansion” are now being leaked all over anti-Semitic, extremist Paki websites. These people will be murdered for helping us.
More:
Pakistani authorities have jailed a doctor who worked for the CIA before the raid that killed Osama bin Laden to create an elaborate plot to get DNA samples from those living at the al-Qaida leader’s compound, as part of U.S. efforts to verify that bin Laden was there.
The doctor, Shakil Afridi, who holds a senior government health post in Pakistan, used nurses, who were able to gain entry to the residence on the pretext of giving vaccinations to children living there, according to Pakistani and U.S. officials and local residents. . . .
The doctor’s detention has added to the tension, and American authorities are thought to have intervened on his behalf. . . .
The doctor apparently is the only person still under arrest. His story provides previously unknown details about the lengths the CIA went to as it tried to confirm suspicions that bin Laden was hiding in the compound.
The doctor’s role was to help American officials know with certainty that bin Laden was in the compound, according to security officials and residents in Abbottabad, all of whom spoke only on the condition of anonymity because they feared government retribution. . . .
The doctor was tasked with collecting DNA samples from those living in the house. A sample from any of the bin Laden children or grandchildren could be compared with DNA extracted from bin Laden’s sister, who died last year in a hospital in Boston.
Let’s say you were one of the infinitesmally small number of Muslims who would really risk their lives to help the West. Let’s say you read about Dr. Afridi rotting in a Paki jail hellhole and likely to face death, especially if he is released to freedom to the ire of his jihadist countrymen. After learning about his fate, would you still risk your life to help America?
This isn’t how we get Muslim spies and friends to help us, that’s for sure. It’s how we get them to turn away."

Ron Paul is a non-issue.
He's a perpetual candidate who lacks any credibility whatsoever - the Libertarian counterpart of Lyndon LaRouche. Fortunately, he never polls in any scientific polls higher than the single digits, so he's a non-issue.
Ron Paul is NOT an honorable politician, a statement. He is NOT a defender of liberty - merely a loon who occassionally speaks about liberty. The fact that he does occassionally agree with the Tea Party only proves the old adage that "Even a blind pig finds an ear of corn once in a while."
Red Phillips| 7.12.11 @ 5:40PM
Zbig, why don't you just be honest. Your issue with Ron Paul is all about his non-interventionism. If Ron Paul held every other belief he has now except he was a bellicose interventionist you would love him. For you, your Wilsonian internationalist interventionism trumps all.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 5:44PM
No, my problem with Paul is also about drug legalization, as well. He was an OB/Gyn. I'm a psychiatrist. What he knows about treating drug abuse could fit into my little finger.
Red Phillips| 7.12.11 @ 6:36PM
Occam, I'm ASAM Certified. I know about treating addiction. I think legalizing drugs would be a disaster. BUT, federal drug laws are UNCONSTITUTIONAL. (The FDA and DEA are unconstitutional for that matter.) What you or I know or don't know about treating drug addiction has nothing to do with the Constitution. Regulating drugs IS NOT an authorized federal function. Period.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 6:55PM
I'm surprised, Red. Regulating Drugs is an interstate commerce matter. Again, Paul is an ignoramus. In addition, he favors drug LEGALIZATION. Forget FDA and DEA. Assume your constitutional rules hold sway. Forget Wickard V. Filburn (although Patent Drug sales ARE a huge case of interstate commerce---unless you argue that Zoloft is sold only in New York, and Prozac is confined to Indiana).
The boy still supports legalizing drugs, period. And his foreign policy completely ignores the chaos and bloodshed that will ensue. It also ignores a disease theory approach that works in international affairs as it does in Medicine---that it is best to deal with problems when small.
But to get back to Paul quotes on legalization of drugs:
Ron Paul on the issues: Q: In your 1988 campaign you said, “All drugs should be decriminalized. Drugs should be distributed by any adult to other adults. There should be no controls on production, supply or purchase for adults.” Is that still your position?
A: Yeah. It’s sort of like alcohol. Alcohol’s a deadly drug, kills more people than anything else. And today the absurdity on this war on drugs has just been horrible."
One can always hold to perfect philosophical positions in places where the perfect does not, cannot , apply. The outcome of that is disaster, as well.
Islam doesn't need to openly invade to force us under Sharia. If all our trading partners are Dar-Es-Islam (Europe will become so by 2030-2040---the numbers are bloody well obvious), we ngage in his 5 year old behavior, and you seem like a decent person. But, honestly, you have such huge holes in your logic and such poor concepts of geopolitical problems that it nauseates.will be toast. And by 2040, all major population bases in Europe will be controlled by Dar-Es-Islam.
Incidentally, the head of StormFront is also a personal friendly acquaintance of Paul. There are photos of them together, smiling. Check the LGF website.
He's a deeply flawed asshat. Sorry.

Should read:
Islam doesn't need to openly invade to force us under Sharia. If all our trading partners are Dar-Es-Islam (Europe will become so by 2030-2040---the numbers are bloody well obvious) we will be toast. And by 2040, all major population bases in Europe will be controlled by Dar-Es-Islam. Japan is dying already; China is going to fall apart by 2040. Who will we trade with?
I tire of this. 8 more months, and Paul will go down the memory hole.

Occam, if the Feds can ban drugs based on the commerce clause, then why was it necessary to pass an amendment to ban alcohol? Was the Prohibition Amendment unnecessary? (This is a point Jim Antle has made before here.) You do realize that a broad reading of the Commerce Clause is what liberals do.
The Constitution specifically authorizes patents, but the purpose of the Commerce Clause was to prevent interstate tariffs and allow for the free flow of goods between states, not to allow unlimited regulation of all commerce. Again, you do realize that is the liberal interpretation.
Occam's Tool| 7.12.11 @ 10:06PM
It does allow for regulations of poisons, and improved public safety. Given that toxins are a potential attack vector, that does make it a Fed responsibility. I'm a Conservative, not a suicide pacter. By the way, the FDA has been around wsince the turn of the Century, you know. The turn of the 19th into the 20th. Shall we re-fight the Civil War, too?
