I think I can safely say that Renata Salecl is not very bright. She(?) has been so indoctrinated into this socialist/fascist crap that she is unable to rationally think.
What is really sad though, is that Lee Doren actually has to waste time refuting each point this moron makes. There are too many people graduating from high school and college who are unable to think.

Salecl is explaining the ideology of choice, ie, one possible logical explanation or "behind the scenes" explanation underlying choice, and the effects of choice, under conditions of capital. anyone can do a quick survey to say how many people in the capitalist world are happy, or not happy/are anxious when making choices in the supermarket. (But market researchers are welcome to do that to check on consumer behaviors and see what information they an extract in order to drive profits in the private sector). But that's not the point of the lecture; far from it. The point is she is creating a way of thinking where the effects of capital and how it creates the differences in attitudes are analyzed, so that we can imagine an alternative understanding of the world, an alternative order OTHER than corporate or finance driven capitalism which manifests in cultural values, beliefs, even CEIs way of thinking!
