The House of Representatives has decisively voted down a resolution that would have formally authorized President Obama’s war in Libya (not that he asked). A good 70 Democrats voted against the president while only eight Republicans voted with him. By contrast, just six House Republicans voted against authorizing President Bush to wage war on Iraq.

House Democrats also used Bushian arguments in defense of Obama. Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) said opponents of the resolution were “siding with Qadhafi.” House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said a vote against the resolution would show the world that “America does not keep faith with its allies.” Meanwhile, Republicans sounded antiwar themes. “The president continues to involve the U.S. military in this illegal conflict,” said Rep. Tim Griffin (R-AK).

A vote on war funding will soon follow.

UPDATE: The House rejected a bill that would have cut off funding for the war.

Bravo, hooray for these brave/courageous Republicans! It about time that they drew a political line in the DC's sand to protest this arrogant community-organizer's extending the BIRD-HAND to the American citizens. We have no business being militarily involved in Libya [which is essentially a civil war], and additionally we should exit the entire middle east ASAP!!!!!!

The Republicans did nothing. They acted like the parents who shows stern disapproval with child but then don't punish them. Disapproving the war, yet still funding it means nothing.

And for those who say we would leave our troops hanging if we defunded, you mean our ships just can't sail away at that point?

If he had gone to Congress within the 60 day period, who knows, they might have been ok if he made a strong enough case. But now he gets what he asked for.

BTW, as I type this comment, there is an on-line ad as part of this website, advertising an "Obama for Peace" T-shirt $25. Also an Obama for president 2012 T-shirt $25. Seems odd.

The question is why quaddafi & heussain - they have a link if you look to the gold Dinar.

Why not Syria as they mow down people.

Peculiar or obvious? You decide why one and not the other(s).

The answer (at least one of them) is that these two regimes are secular and have signed peace agreements with Isreael. If they go down Israel is much closer to being destroyed. Check out Obama's odd turn as chair of the U.N. Security Council in September 2009. He is ALL about the establishment of a Palestinian state. His Shiite roots are showing.

No Mr President, your war in Libya is illegal, unconstitutional and an outrage, but we'll keep paying for it anyway.

The GOP is up to its usual tricks a Yes/No answer or in this case No/Yes, no to the war but yes to continued funding of the war. No doubt a portent of things to come. In the final analysis, Yes to debt-ceiling increase and no spending cuts.

Well, let's see about the funding. This will be interesting. It's amusing to see Obama hoist by his own Alinskyite petard, and this is a fight we have no dog in, as the rebels are probably worse.

Tool,
They voted to continue the funding. So in other words..........
