The Debate, Part Four

Romney led off with the crowd-pleaser: the score of the Bruins game.

Romney also started off the talk about the social issues. He gave a two-word answer to King's question about gay marriage: "constitutional amendment," one banning it. Romney also effectively avoided criticism over his shifting position on abortion.

Bachmann's answers have been very impressive. She's effectively established herself as an accomplished mother and professional, mentioning her 23 foster children in multiple questions. Although she's the rookie on the stage (Cain excepted), her answers are the most polished and appealing so far. While her defense of the right to life was the most energizing, Pawlenty successfully touted his strong pro-life accomplishments as governor -- in both legislation and appointing judges.

Still no questions about Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc. Of the issues that have come up so far, very few will be decided or even influenced by the next president. The wars, on the other hand, will be almost entirely under their care. Where are the questions?

Does the rest of the field realize that they're all chasing Romney? Doesn't seem like it.

Gingrich looked like King Waffle with his answer on illegal immigration. In fact, you could tell he knew it was his weak point.

So guess no questions on Global Warming.

Ron Paul trumped that earlier, mentioning that he has delivered 4,000 babies.

Interesting omission.

Clint/Timmie*:
"Ron Paul trumped that earlier:

He trumped nuthin'. He only delivered them to the parents, the parents RAISED them.
As Michele Bachmann did with FIVE of her own and 23 FOSTER children.

I guess you can't tell the difference between a auto salesman and an auto mechanic, eh?

Perhaps Israel Firster Fanatic Multiple Personality Victor-Margie-Sybil is all atwitter about Dr.Ron Paul being a Pro-Life Candidate, who's Son is A Tea Party Senator.

Nobama| 6.13.11 @ 10:32PM

The big winner was Palin.

TBore was TBore, and came off as a wimp when he wouldn't repeat the Obomneycare line to Romney's face. In fact nobody had the guts to take it to Romney, and that's just sad.

Romney couldn't hide the fact that he's a RINO but with nobody calling him on global warming and Obomneycare and everything else his doomed campaign continues. Ron Paul is a flake. Cain might be ready some day but it's not today. Santorum looked like a deer in the headlights.

Bachmann had some solid answers but she just doesn't have the charisma or skill at dealing with the media that Palin has. She won't embarrass Palin, and she'll stay in the background and not overshadow the candidate.

Palin was smart to stay out of this debate, because now it's more obvious than ever that the current field is WEAK. People are going to come away from this debate thinking ... those are the only choices?? Seriously??

Palin's entry will be a breath of fresh air that will blow them all away.

Good insight on Palin, Nobama. I agree.

Michael L. Hauschild| 6.13.11 @ 11:41PM

As do I.

Sorry to disagree, but they all had their moments, even that stuffed shirt R. Paul.
They are all infinitely better than anything the dems have.
Course we could all start a whispering campaign that the dems should run someone else.
Maybe draft Gov. Moonbeam?

Clint| 6.14.11 @ 6:22AM

People are watching to see if Sarah Palin is gonna play kingmaker or run.
