The Spectacle Blog

According to Politico.com:

Seventeen news organizations - Alaskan, national and international - picked up sets of five 55-pound boxes of the printed-out emails, delivered on a hand truck. Each organization paid $726 in copying costs for the trove.

So the liberal media is all hands on deck and spares no expense where it concerns the e-mail correspondence of a former governor, now private citizen, who may or may not seek elected office. If only this level of diligence had been exercised by the liberal media when Barack Obama announced he would run for President in February 2007. But they couldn't allocate their precious resources to such scrutiny. Why that would have reduced the amount of time they would have had to campaign for Mr. Obama.

I think this whole exercise is best summed up by Elspeth Reeves of The Atlantic Wire, who wrote on Friday, "See something interesting. Send it to me." And by interesting, Reeves means embarrassing. Somehow I doubt she would consider anything which puts Palin into a positive light to be interesting. It is all part of their ongoing campaign to dismiss Sarah Palin from public life.

Let's see how much coverage the State Run Media give to the following:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/new.....reats.html

The news media couldn't find a shred of evidence to support those death threats or curses or spitting against the Tea Party when dems alleged they happened.
Now it is here in black and white.

Wouldn't hold my breath though.

NoLib| 6.12.11 @ 3:47AM

Sarah Palin's church was burned down in December, 2008, too. There were parishioners inside the church when it was torched. The authorities said it was a "suspicious" fire. Well, no duh!

martin j smith| 6.12.11 @ 8:02AM

My feeling about the MSM and the Socialists is theat they are making Palin's day actually. The more the pour on the more she takes off on it like fuel.

My problem are some so called conservative Mainstream Republlcian Posters, pundits and poo bahs who accept the Socialist view of Palin. They are wrong to do that and are more dangerous from my point of view that the Socialists themselves. Hint,Hint....

beebop| 6.12.11 @ 9:24AM

Every time they are so rabidly political and find nothing, a Reagan dem turns independent and begins to read something other than the nonsense they get at the Slimes. More of this, please.

These emails give us a glimpse of Palin
as a hard working governor whose main focus is serving the citizens of Alaska.

If only we had a president and congress
who governed that way. Palin2012!

We pretty much have had the bias and the "get Sarah" and the "tool of the DNC" angle covered for quite a while now. What is, or should be, "embarassing" is the practice of the journalism profession these days. Were I wealthy, and an alum of, say, the Columbia School of Journalism, I believe I would have to think three, maybe four, maybe five times about including them in any future giving. The transparency that we so hoped for in government is instead found in the journalism profession - they are transparently a bunch of under-educated circus clowns.

Bob K.| 6.12.11 @ 10:28AM

You can't trust any member of the media. From the owners, down through the publishers, to the editors and producers and finally into the journalists and talking heads who do their bidding. And that includes the conservative branch of the media.

You could trust these people who work in it if they were honest enough to admit that their first concern was making money, but no; they wrap the 1st Amendment to the Constitution around themselves and try to con their readers and watchers and listeners by insisting that they are the last refuge of freedom.

The media is now (and has always been) in the publicity and celebrity business because that is what sells. And Palin is now a celebrity, like it or not, and she sells. The media makes big bucks from advertising when she is in the news. They could make more money doing the same thing to the current resident of the White House but they don't, for the most part, have the courage or integrity to do so.

The poor saps; the formerly "ink stained wretches" who work for the media; the ones who "one day are blackening your character and the next day are blackening your boots" in the words of Disraeli, are no different or braver or more intelligent than the common citizens who live in "fly over country" and go to work each day because they need the income and then come home read the paper and then throw it away and later later turn on the TV for the news and then turn it off in disgust.

OLDRAY| 6.12.11 @ 12:33PM

Palin drives the Democrats and the Republican "establishment" NUTS. Because the Dems know she can win and the Republican "establishment politicos" know she doesn't owe them anything. A Sarah Palin win could mean a real house cleaning of worthless departments and their connections, a renewal of national defense , national self-respect, national values and much of the American Character that has so badly been neglected. Team her with another upstart like Marco Rubio and not only have a winner, BUT a win that is worthwhile.

Poiu Ytrew| 6.12.11 @ 3:14PM

Speaking as a liberal, it's now clear that we should have worked harder not to make it so obvious that Palin drives us NUTS. And you nailed it on the reason. We know that the former half-term governor can win. She's got the votes of the hard core tea partiers and social conservative locked up tight. Obama would have to win based on votes from the left wing and the moderates and independents.

Plus, in interviews on Fox, when she knows in advance what the questions are going to be, she actually comes across as almost competent.

I'm begging you, please don't make Palin the nominee. And whatever you do don't let Bachmann be her running mate.

Brian72| 6.12.11 @ 4:07PM

"Plus, in interviews on Fox, when she knows in advance what the questions are going to be, she actually comes across as almost competent."

How do you know this?

Oh, that's right, you don't.

Sarah Palin, as her email records show, is far more honest, transparent, and competent than our current President has ever been or ever will be.

Let's have Obama's emails archive from his time in Illinois state government, and do a comparison, shall we?

Or, better yet, let's get Rahm Emmanuel's email archive as White House Chief of Staff.

I bet there are some real stinkers in there, huh?

Let's have a look at Anthony Weiner's emails from just the last couple of years.

I bet that wouldn't reveal anything of interest, would it?

How about Nancy Pelosi's email archive from the time she was Speaker?

Such competence can only be imagined.

You liberals are in for a rude awakening in 2012.

Poiu Ytrew| 6.12.11 @ 5:03PM

We're in for a rude awakening only if you run Palin as the nominee. Who else can win but her?

I'm not denying that she's sharp as a tack. I saw her in a tough interview the other day on a station other than Fox ... oh no, wait, I didn't. She avoids tough interviews and only lets herself be interviewed on Fox.

She's still the one we're really afraid of. I'm telling you the truth. Please don't run her. Please!

SoCon| 6.12.11 @ 6:11PM

Sarah's under contract to Fox and she's not even a candidate--why should she do interviews with MessNBC? I'm sure Chrissy will get the "tingles" when he interviews her, too, right? Oh no, my badness; Chrissy saves his "tingles" for the Bamster.

You can go back to your Weiner boy in cape and tights pics now. LOL

tonypal| 6.13.11 @ 10:09AM

Wow, double reverse psychology! I didn't think liberals could come close to being this clever, but you've pulled it off. In any case, it kind of sounds like you're describing our current Teleprompter in Chief, a guy whose extemporaneous speeches contain 50% "uh, uh."

Koozebane| 6.12.11 @ 12:45PM

Let them see who she really is. Let it burn their hearts while they strive to take her down.

I say let them dig. It's their own hole they are digging.

Real American| 6.12.11 @ 12:58PM

the MSM doesn't cover Obama. It covers FOR Obama.

SoCon| 6.12.11 @ 6:11PM

So true.

Wayne | 6.12.11 @ 2:59PM

I would love to see a Palin vs Obama battle. It would surpass Ali vs Frazier. The lame stream media would even have to lose all pretense of being objective. Bring them all on, because in the end we need to beat them all to make the changes we need. We need to beat ObamaCrats, the lame stream media, and the Republican establishment. Kill that stranglehold and we will have a vibrant, prosperous society in the making.

Brian72| 6.12.11 @ 4:08PM

I agree.

Let's get ready to rumble!

Poiu Ytrew| 6.12.11 @ 6:36PM

Speaking as a liberal, I agree too. With the part about Palin vs Obama being battle that would be fun to watch.

Ooops! I didn't really mean that! We're afraid of her! Her "unfavorable" numbers in the polls are even higher than Obama's. Even Trump and Newt poll better than Palin. But all that proves is that the lamestream media is making up numbers to hurt Palin because Obama fears her!

If you want the truth, go to Fox news. In a recent poll (June 8) we learn that "only Palin is viewed as not qualified to be president by a majority of voters." Which is obviously false ... we liberals FEAR her ... so Fox is cleverly trying to lull us liberals into a state of complacency. Then after she gets the nomination they release the real numbers.

It's the same one-two punch that she pulled on the Paul Revere thing. The reporter asked her a shout out gotcha question: "What have you seen so far today and what are you going to take away from your visit?" I mean seriously, is that even a fair question? Do Democrats get put on the spot with tough gotcha questions like that one?

But Palin handled it brilliantly. She talked about Revere "warned the British that they weren't going to be takin' away our arms by ringin' those bells." And also warning shots. Which is, of course, absolutely true (according to her devoted fans), about Revere ringin' those bells and firin' those warnin' shots to warn the British that they were in for a whoopin'.

She left liberals looking like idiots, clinging to their lamestream "history books" written by academic elites what with all their "research" and what all.

All of which is why I implore you not to make her the Republican nominee. She drives us liberals NUTS! Because we fear her! We really do!

SoCon| 6.12.11 @ 8:35PM

Sarah's Revere comments were true according to numerous scholars and historians--of course they must be her devoted fans, too.

You libs are boring; even your lies are stale and already disproven. You're just a joke.

Please get some new material--Weiner's weiner entertainment is becoming tedious. I think I've heard every possible disgusting joke about Weiner's genitalia. It's beyond old.

What will you freaks come up with next?

Poiu Ytrew| 6.12.11 @ 9:40PM

Okay, you got me. Her Revere statements were true! Paul revere rang bells to warn the British ... and fired warning shots to warn the British! Well, not so much a literal ringing of the bells to warn the British, and not so much warning shots involving a literal gun. And he tried to keep his ride a secret from the British. BUT when he was captured, boy did he give them an earful! With metaphorical bell ringing and metaphorical warning shots. So in that sense she was one hundred percent historically accurate.

I didn't make up the foxnews poll. http://fxn.ws/kCCacq
This is Fox writing not just about a Republican, but about someone on their own payroll. Imagine what it would look like if they weren't trying to put a positive spin on it.

But anyway, you got me. We liberals are very afraid that the GOP will run the one candidate that a majority of voters think isn't qualified to be President, the candidate with higher unfavorable numbers than Trump or Newt, the candidate who thinks "What have you seen so far today" is an outrageous gotcha question. It may look like I'm laughing at her but really I'm shaking with fear that she'll be the nominee. Really.

SoCon| 6.12.11 @ 10:01PM

Dude, this is old! You need to do a little research before you troll here. The only thing worse than a troll is a stupid troll like you.
Sarah's been proven right; choke on it.

Obama and his sycophants like you should fear 9.1% unemployment, skyrocketing fuel and food prices, inflation, more unnecessary wars, trillions more in debt, a tanking stock market and a pissed off American public.

Shake in your boots while we laugh at your Weiner's weiner antics.

See you election day 2012, clown.

Poiu Ytrew| 6.12.11 @ 10:19PM

For someone who is tired of weiner jokes you seem to be the only one making them. Just sayin.

I'm agreeing with you. There's no one we liberals fear more than Palin. We send our best lamestream media stooges to ask such outrageous gotcha questions as "what have you seen so far today" ... and she knocks it out of the park with 100% historically accurate observations about Paul Revere ringin' those bells and firin' those warning shots to warn the British. She may be the only candidate that a majority considers unqualified to be President ... but if being a former half-term governor isn't enough then what's the world coming to?

If Palin is the nominee then liberals like me will just give up and probably not even bother voting, we'll be so demoralized. Sigh. There's probably nothing we can do to stop you though.

SoCon| 6.12.11 @ 10:38PM

Boring broken record troll. You're not even earning your Soros' dollars today.

If Sarah is so unelectable, why are you spending so much troll time on her? Why are you idiots obsessively combing over her old emails? WHY???

Methinks you protest too much, toothless troll.
Keep it up though; you're just bringing more attention and publicity to the Governor and her poll numbers are up 11 points in the last week. Thank you.

Poiu Ytrew| 6.13.11 @ 1:09AM

Same reason I watch comedies, basically. It's fun pointing out things like the fact that the "gotcha" question Palin was complaining about in an interview on Foxnews was "What have you seen so far today ...". A candidate who considers that a "gotcha" question is the ideal candidate to have your opponents run.

Or that even Foxnews can't spin its way out of a poll that shows Palin as the only candidate more than half the voters consider unqualified to be President. The only one! And this is from Foxnews! Imagine what this looked like before they put the most positive spin they could on it.

But of course none of this is true. How could there be anything amusing about the GOP running the former half-term governor who has higher negatives than Newt or Trump? Newt and Trump would be awful candidates but they aren't funny. Palin is an awful candidate and funny.

But of course I'm bluffing! I'm deeply afraid that the former half-term governor will run against Obama! Deeply! I'm especially afraid she'll have Bachmann or Santorum as a running mate. Yow! Anything but that!

SoCon| 6.13.11 @ 2:12AM

Gawd, you're a loser. A ham sandwich could beat the Community Organizer in Chief failure in 2012.

Jimmuh Carter loves Obama: Jimmuh's only the second worst president in our history now.

Big White Guy| 6.12.11 @ 8:36PM

That's exactly the point.
American voters are saying Obama ain't fun to watch.
President Obama's approval ratings fell to below 50 percent for the first time since his ratings spiked following the news of the death of Osama bin Laden last month, according to a CBS News poll released on Wednesday.
Obama's approval numbers hovered in the range below 50 percent for most of the past year, though they spiked after the early May announcement that a team of elite Navy SEALs had captured and killed the al Qaeda.

About 79 percent of the poll respondents said the economy is in bad shape, essentially unchanged from April but higher than the 74 percent who reported the condition of economy as poor in January.

"Government data showing a meager jobs gain of 54,000 in May and a rise in the unemployment rate to 9.1 percent from 9 percent a month earlier confirmed fears that the pace of economic growth was slackening. No president has been re-elected since Franklin Roosevent when unemployment was above 7.2 percent.

Reports on housing, manufacturing and other sectors have raised concerns about the economy's health.
The Obama administration says the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling must be raised by August 2 to prevent the United States from defaulting on its obligations."

SoCon| 6.12.11 @ 10:06PM

The CBS poll is BS; I'm betting the Bamster's approvals are in the 30s at best.

54,000 jobs created in May and half of them are McDonald's hires. Obama is a complete failure. I hope our national nightmare ends in November 2012.

Clint| 6.12.11 @ 10:18PM

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 23% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16

SoCon| 6.12.11 @ 10:39PM

Ouch! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Loadmaster| 6.13.11 @ 8:57AM

I have 2 points to make and then I'll let the dirt eaters and the tree huggers go at it.

#1 - during this entire email attack I have not seen any GOP leaders or GOP candidates come to the ladies defends..not one. Unless I missed a quote someplace. This has and will backfire on the establishment, both LSM and the GOP.

2. The race for the GOP POTUS will have to go through Wasilla. If Gov Palin decides to run, she will suck all the oxygen out of the entire GOP field. The MSM will do this because they will be solely focusing on her. They are that much afraid of her. The DNC will act like a bully trying to destroy her. It would be ugly. If she doesn't run, then look for every candidate to make a trip to Wasilla or AZ...depends on where Todd and her are at. They know they need her and her supporters.

Finally, I do hope she enter the race - WHY, because she can WIN. Additionally the GOP needs to have this debate. Sarah will focus on rooting out the "good old boy" mentality and getting us back to our founding fathers belief's and wishes. This is what the people want. The GOP has become part of the problem. They need to be given their marking orders from the people and not the establishment in Wash.
