This week’s ritual theater added a new element of legislative insight. I ask the question, here.

Not only is the article brilliant, the comments are intelligent and some are downright humorous:

Most of the senators in question, should be run out of Washington, being chased by torches and pitchforks.

The Democrats have mastered the rhetoric of misdirection. If you speak of the 1.6 trillion dollar deficit and wish to cut it, they reduce the issue to the individual (undernourished child, sickly grandmother, hard-working teacher) and ignore the aggregate. In the case of the Oil Company "Profit" they look at the aggregate and the Media shills never point out the profits of a large company need to be looked at at the share level. When the Profit is revealed to be 28 cents per share, it is that same teacher or grandmother who is hurt when government confiscates the dividend of their stock holding

Wow! So many words and not a peep about how the Good Senator and his colleagues, their mentality and the gullibility of MILLIONS has created, sustained and virtually guaranteed in perpetuity of all of the pressure group crap that has destroyed the liberty of the people in our once special land. America was FOUNDED on the idea of LIMITED GOVERNMENT - and yet so many scream about what is "unfair" or about how "there ought to be a law"...

Grow up, get a grip and just be responsible for your own damn self - and your family. Stop sticking your hand out and your nose in... Be an individual that is capable of standing on your own as best possible. Have some hard times, an occasional temporary failing or some debilitating problem your family is incapable of handling purely through it's own resources? Get the LEVIATHAN off of EVERYBODY'S back and see just how charitable a far more wealthy PRIVATE America can be...

You live in the most advanced, prosperous and generous society EVER!!! It is the result of THE PEOPLE - NOT the government. Defeat the enemy - those who have something to gain from your involuntary servitude - those in "government"

Wasn't one of the pillars of the founding a belief in the ability of THE PEOPLE to self-govern through the use of their own individual rational minds? Are you really too stupid to live your own life?

Nothing to add to that other than you are absolutely right.

The left wants the productive portion of the country to be slaves, to fund their 'fairness gifts' to the unproductive.

I frankly respect no one that has anything to do with government -- if that is his or her primary source of income.

Clarity: Where some (non lawyers - I have NO respect for any lawyers) small town or county people get involved -- working for either peanuts or for $0 -- those people I'll give some due.

I respect only those who have chosen professions where they have to earn their way (while, yes, simultaneously owning up to and genuniely rueing & wishing away any kickbacks or tax benefits that have been thrown at that profession by lobbyists+pols).

A good article. Very acurate. Tells us exactly why these sewer rats crave these political jobs and will sell their daughters to pimps to stay in power.
