Since Mathew RJ Brodsky's column on the front page touches on John Kerry's longtime Assad apologism, it's worth noting that yesterday Kerry finally admitted that Assad "obviously is not a reformer now." Kerry maintains that this isn't inconsistent with his previous statements; he's being either dishonest or delusional (I suspect it's mostly the latter).

The Assads were never considered reformers until recently when someone decided to pin that tag on them and our press ran with it. Now it is the Sunnis turn to be the saviors of the near east and the state of Israel.
