From today's Climate Wire (subscription required):

"Immelt said at an event sponsored by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology 'Even though I believe in global warming and I believe in the science ... it just took on a connotation that was too elitist'"...

But of course, that's silly. He then continued, in defense of the offshore eyesore Cape Wind soon to begin stripping Massachusetts ratepayers:

"I have a lot of friends that have houses on the Cape and on Nantucket,..."

Immelt and every GE executive that licks his toes (and they all do, or else their careers are over) are great examples of pure Mussolini-style corporatism. Huge company with fortunes directly tied to government favors; GE has effectively ceased to be private and is now quasi-governmental, just as surely as Government Motors is. Shareholder value? Private enterprise? Who gives a shit, as long as the GE leadership keeps cozy with its government benefactors. Is there any doubt that GE would happily provide "ecoimagination" engineering and "renewable" energy to run the gas ovens at Barack Pol Pot's concentration camps (in his happiest dreams, of course--we're not quite there, yet)?

Mr. Immelt makes the point: Global Warming is a belief system, not science.

Immelt is Jack's worst decision. His purpose is to make profit and increase shareholder value. He has done a piss poor job.

Why is it so? Perhaps, a lack of confidence in him by investors/shareholders after he predicted growth in earnings in advance of GE then announcing negative growth and actual losses for the quarter. This enraged Jack Welch who would have fired him if he was still CEO.

Profit?

Anyone know how much GE paid in taxes last year...?

hint: very low number.

No doubt all his friends on the Cape and Nantucket are wildly enthusiastic about those toxic waste bombs we're scheduled to plug into our electric sockets unless Congress has an attack of common sense.

I caught something on the Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island's efforts to stop the wind farms. The Kennedy family was the most prominent supporters of the movement. Interesting side note here, apparently the turbines are extremely loud, making a whooshing sound when operating. It might have been in Maine, but there was an area here in the US where they shutdown the turbines when winds reach 30 mph. Ironically the turbines that were installed operate at peak efficiency at this and a bit higher wind speeds. Their feel-good green plans, just got more expensive and longer periods of taxpayer paybacks. Ohhhh Noooo. Liberal fweel-good about me, me, me takes a hit.

Do you think he got scolded later for using the older term "global warming" instead of the newer one "climate change?" After all, the newer term allows these nuts to wring their hands and our wallets over any little change and they don't need to rely on that pesky falsified data.
