Mitch Daniels has a family problem. You can bet Mrs. Daniels has vetoed any presidential run fearing scrutiny on their bizarre multiple marriages.
Derek Leaberry| 5.3.11 @ 2:59PM
Right. Just think of the scrutiny that a national campaign and presidency would have. Much more than being First Lady of one of the most boring states in the union. Think of the media knives that would be drawn. The View. Katie Couric. Andrea Mitchell. Diane Sawyer. And just think of what the hyenas of CNBC would do. With a Daniels campaign we might get something similar to the 1884 "Ma, Ma, Where's My Pa" campaign.

No great loss.
nohype| 5.3.11 @ 11:52AM
Whoever gets the nomination will face an incredibly negative campaign, the sort of the thing that the Democrats and their allies in the press have orchestrated against Palin for the past two-plus years. Obama cannot run on his disastrous record, so he must run negative. It will be unpleasant, and if there is no scandal to uncover, something will be invented--again, look at the Palin experience. If Mitch or any of the other candidates is reluctant to undergo this ordeal, who can blame them? On the other hand, we should admire those who are willing to endure it.

I usually agree with you, but unless Daniels has something in his resume' we don't know about, I would think he would run because in spite of all the media bias, I am pretty confident Obama will lose. I think the bounce from Bin Laden will never really materialize for any sustained period of time.
No president has won since the great depression with unemployment over 7.4%, and I doubt if the first one will be someone who allowed the Mideast to go Islamist.

Strange marriage, apparently. Ah, well. Eventually we will be left with Allen West or John Bolton. Shucky-darn.

Mitch is a fine Governor. Thanks, Mitch.

Let's not promote him above his level of competence.

Who?

John, I disagree! These blowhard politicians issuing opinions about this terrorist situation upon which few or none of them have ever experenced any credentials is absurd. What does Romney etc know about fighting terrorism, other than having to combat the Kennedys in his home state? I'm not saying Daniels will/should run, but his commenting upon something such as UBL's death is irrelevent and should be considered stupid for him to attempt advice/opinion about!!!
KingCranium| 5.3.11 @ 4:28PM
Derek, you get on here every time there's a post about Mitch Daniels and make some sort of ugly insinuation about his marriage. Surely if he's engaged in something illegal or bizarre, salacious or untoward, there must be something on the internet about it, so post a link. Otherwise I think it's possible all you are is a rumormonger who is using this forum to spread scurrilous rumors about a potential candidate you obviously don't like. If you can't come up with the goods, I hope other readers take that into account when reading your posts.
Derek Leaberry| 5.3.11 @ 5:02PM
Conservative columnist Ross Douthat writes about the Daniels situation in the June 8, 2010 New York Times. Apparently after having four children, Mitch and Cherie Daniels divorced in 1994 and Mitch kept their four kids. Cherie Daniels married a doctor and soon divorced him. She remarried Mitch in 1997. I won't post a link because I and don't know how to. I am not a computer geek.

Weak, weak, weak! That would be my take on your conclusion that Daniels is not interested in running!
Seems to me his comments on Bin laden's death are entirely appropriate, commending Obama and Bush along with the military and intelligence communities.
What more has Romney, Pawlenty et al offered so far at this point? And furthermore, aside from being a commentator for American Spectator Mag, what credentials do you have that make you an expert critic on other peoples comments?
