I found yet another reason for conservatives to hate
the budget deal.
The compromise spending legislation now before Congress funds
ACORN-like radical activist groups to the tune of a whopping $680
million in fiscal 2011.
Bear in mind $680 million is virtually nothing compared to the
trillions of dollars the feds regularly flush down the
toilet but these nasty, parasitic pressure groups that want to
bring “hope and change” to America can do a lot of damage to our
society with that money. They’ve been trying to transform America
for the worst and using your tax dollars to do so ever since
left-of-center community groups started getting government funding
under Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty.”
As Suzanne Perry reports in the
Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Community Services Block
Grant program is on track to take in a good chunk of change.
The program, which provides money to a network of
community-action agencies across the country, would get
$680-million for the fiscal year that ends September 30, according
to details of the bill provided by the Senate Appropriations
Committee.
As I detail in my upcoming book,
Subversion Inc., President Obama always takes care of his
friends.
The Community Services Block Grant program provides federal
money “to states and organizations for projects that offer
education, employment, health care, housing, and other services to
low-income people,”
according to Perry. “Most of that money goes to about 1,000
community-action agencies across the country that manage local
antipoverty projects.”
It might as well be called the “Saul Alinsky Memorial Slush
Fund.”
And get this: budding Alinskyite class warriors can
even earn a diploma in rabble-rousing! Community Action Partnership
offers “Certified Community Action Professional,” or
CCAP designations, to today’s community organizers.
Maybe it’s a kind of Good Housekeeping seal of approval
for left-wing thugs.

We're allowing the Left to destroy us with our own money! They're evil, but we're stupid.

Words cannot express my fury.
Would that Boehner and his cowardly, worthless "leadership" find spines. Nah. Obama will become a a supply-sider before that happens.
We are fast approaching 1776.
Rogue Elephant| 4.14.11 @ 2:32PM
FIRE BOEHNER! Enough with this loser, already!
PattyMor| 4.14.11 @ 3:57PM
So Boehner agrees to fund the very organization that chased down community bank presidents and DEMAND that they lend money to people who could not possibly pay it back. And, Fannie and Freddie, plus the Community Reinvestment
Law are all still on the books. Isn't this a measure of instanity??
Matthew Vadum | 4.14.11 @ 5:03PM
In fairness to Speaker Boehner et al., Congress has been doing this kind of thing for more than 40 years.
But given what we now know about Alinskyite groups and the federal government's worsening fiscal problems, it seems like now would be a good time to cut off the funding for these despicable groups.
Sunny| 4.14.11 @ 6:02PM
You've been doing yeoman's work regarding this matter, Matthew (kudos to you btw)--Boehner has no excuse for funding this crap. Please don't give him a pass.
Matthew Vadum | 4.15.11 @ 2:51PM
I was just trying to provide perspective, not give him a pass. Keep up the pressure, by all means!
Thanks for your kind words, Sunny.

You're more than deserving, Matt!! Thanks again for all you've done exposing the corruption of ACORN.
Thank God for honorable, honest reporters like you.

I take offense your description of agencies that try to help those down on their luck as "despicable groups." Do you have any idea what is Community Action Agencies actually do? Do you have any idea what it's like to worry about how to buy groceries for your family, pay your mortgage, pay your utility bills and provide for your family? Do you have any idea what it's like to lose a home to foreclosure? These are the types of people that Community Action helps, Mr Vadum. It's people that have worked for many years at job that they've now lost due to down sizing or their jobs being shipped off to Mexico. It's people that are trying to get back on their feet. And you......YOU want to turn them away and tell them to fend for themselves. YOU, Mr Vadum, have no idea what you are talking about and there is no merit to your claims about these "despicable groups" trying to HELP people. Despicable is how I would describe YOU and your efforts to undermine the assistance being offered in these hard times.

ACORN steals elections, too.
Al Adab| 4.14.11 @ 5:34PM
None of these private groups should receive any federal (taxpayer) dollars. The Left has made a career of living off other people's money while the Conservatives fund themselves privately. Can't we all agree that citizen groups should live or die on their merits not on the favor of lawmakers?
Jim L| 4.18.11 @ 6:12PM
This "radical left wing" thing called the Community Services Block Grant was, in fact, a product of the 1981 Ronald Reagan White House. The author hasn't a clue what he is talking about. CSBG funded programs across the US have raised countless thousands out of poverty to become successful tax paying citizens!

I work for a community action agency... and I don't even know who Alinsky is... but I sure do know the hundreds of people who contact us daily WORKING and struggling to survive in this country..... we help those who are helping themselves and screen out those who are looking for handouts... Community Action organizations are NOT community organizers -- we are life changers.. one at a time...walk a mile in my (and their) shoes... and then we'll talk!!! Yep, I'm a little miffed.. just shows you cannot believe everything the media reports..... ACORN wannabe's??? PLEASE... I invite the writer of this garbage to spend an entire day in a community action agency on the frontline....I promise you will have something to write about, and it won't be Alinsky!!!!

So.. nobody has a comeback to my comment. rest MY case!!!!

I also work at a Community Action Agency in one of the hardest hit states. I am floored at Mr. Vadum's characterization of Community Action. It's obvious that Mr. Vadum doesn't know what it's like to lose a job and try to support a family on little or no money. It's obvious that Mr. Vadum can't look past the end of his own nose and realize that there are AMERICANS out there that need help in this struggling economy. It's sad that the agencies that do the most GOOD in this country are lambasted by those that don't have a clue. What's worse is that it's all done to make a "name" for himself. As DB mentioned, visit a Community Action Agency for day. Until that happens, Mr. Vadum, you should truly be ashamed of yourself.
DB| 4.26.11 @ 10:18PM
CAA America... kudos!!! interesting that noone has responded to our responses.. THEY don't want to realize that people who work still struggle! THEY don't want to acknowledge that people who want to work cannot find a job -- even at minimum wage -- much less find a job that provides a living wage.. we will keep doing what we do with what we have for those who are doing the best they can to have what they can.. and I can assure them, at best, it is survival... nuff said!!! God, hear the cry of this country! WE need YOU!!!!
