By now it’s obvious that if the government shuts down and Planned Parenthood funding remains a sticking point, the media narrative will be that conservative social issues zealotry is destroying Washington.

So give it up. Get the best deal you can on spending cuts, and give up the Planned Parenthood thing. This is NOT the place we should be falling on our sword. (But maybe that is the Republican bait. God, I hope so. (But I doubt it.))

The 2011 budget is not our battle. Cut the best deal you can here and move on. Make the 2012 budget the battle. And don't give up a thing there.

Let me get this right. President will veto a CR bill that outlaws the worship of the goddess Choice and provides for public funding of her sacrement abortion. Following the veto those who do not worship the goddess will be blamed for their intransigence and unwillingness to engage in the state sponsored religion. All makes perfect sense to me. You have got to be kidding Mr. President. To hold our troops hostage for this type of moral outrage clearly violates your oath of office.

Dear Al Adab,

When has a Chicago Politician ever taken an oath seriously other than "tonight you sleep with the fishes?"

Sincerely,

Occam

Shut It Down.

Certain RINO-CINO Fops want to "Appease & Capitulate" once again, as these Big Government Parasite Leech Spenders are brought to a halt.

We Got "Mo", as Our Tea Party Tax Day Rallies are Ramping Up.

Walk The Talk.

You are right OT. I forget those inconvienient truths, to coin a phrase. BTW, thanks for the kind comments yesterday. I appreciate them coming as they do from an astute observer such as yourself.

Lisa| 4.8.11 @ 4:35PM

McGrath, you're a worm. It's all about money all of the time for you lousy, money-grubbing RINOs.

The Progressive Culture of Death is killing the unborn now, the aged and infirm will be next, and then you and me.

You reap what you sow, and you are sowing the seeds of discord and death.

Can someone please explain why this shutdown isn't hinging on the defunding of Obamacare's $1 billion slush fund? Why isn't that a deal-breaker?

God Is Truth| 4.8.11 @ 6:12PM

@ Paul McGrath
Blatant sin against God in the form of TAXPAYER FUNDED abortion on demand is destroying not only Washington D.C., but America as a whole. Until the Holocaust of abortion on demand is stopped & America values God & His gift of life more than the almighty dollar God will never again bless this nation, period! Social issues affect fiscal issues. You cannot separate the two, hard as you may try. Without God's blessing this nation will not prosper fiscally, Tea Party or no Tea Party! It has been said, "you can't legislate morality". This is true. On the other hand only fools will turn a blind eye to the funding of blatant sin against God & tell themself, "it doesn't affect me or my wallet, so why should I care?" God will not be mocked & abortion on demand funded through taxpayer dollars is mocking God. Life is a gift from God & only God has the right to give life or take it away.

Greetings Not....
I have always wanted to write that line.

To answer your question.
It is because "Fighting for Women's Reproductive Health" polls better than "ObamaCare or Else".
Nobody likes ObamaCare.

The problem is Harry Reid and party did not think it through.
Consider "Pregnancy is not a Disease and Planned Parenthood is No Cure" would be a snappy retort for the Republicans.

Al Adab| 4.8.11 @ 9:15PM

Dixie,
I like the slogan. Copyright the bumper sticker. Your local Tea Party group could sell thousands of them.

Dixie Pixie| 4.8.11 @ 11:08PM

Greetings Al Adab
Feel free to use it as you or anyone will with my blessings.
Just send me a copy through the TAS main office.

Try these revisions:::
"Pregnancy is not a Disease and Planned Parenthood is not the Cure"
"Life is not a Disease which Planned Parenthood never Cures"

Let Harried Ried and Sunday Golfer Obamster pick this fight with Christians. They'll lose.

Thank you Lisa and God is (indeed!) Truth.

No deal. Immoral use of taxpayers/citizens funds betrays all trust. It displays nothing but moral depravity.

No even listening to anything any Demoncrat has to say until all Obamacare slush/hush funding is eliminated.

Former Sen. Ted Kennedy would gladly tell us this from Hell. But if he'd have ever read his Bible (or taken God Almighty seriously), Ted would know that God does not grant this.

We in the USA have all been well warned what the consequences of sin are.

Oldefarte| 4.9.11 @ 1:00PM

I'll go against the conservative grain here and profess a desire to maintain governmental funding of Planned Parenhood. Furthermore, I want the government to airplane drop bucketloads of condoms, birth control devices, duct tape, etc into each and every impoverished neighborhood possible. This will hopefully prevent unwanted, unplanned, unaffordable births to impoverished women, and therefore reduce the governmental expendatures for welfare accordingly 10-15 years into the future [if pregancies are therefore prevented from same]!!!!!!!!!!

SoCon| 4.9.11 @ 1:09PM

You're making a deal with the devil, Oldefarte. If we don't protect the most innocent among us we deserve no protection.

Rev Trask| 4.10.11 @ 5:03PM

But `baggers like Michele Bachmann urged Boehner not to get sucked into a shutdown over PP. So maybe Gov Daniels is right, after all?

Jo| 4.10.11 @ 11:14PM

Daniels is a weasel and doesn't stand a chance in 2012.
