Later this afternoon, the Senate will consider the McConnell-Inhofe amendment and three Democratic alternatives. Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) are trying to prevent the EPA from instituting a backdoor cap-and-trade scheme through the agency’s power to regulate greenhouse gases. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) has predicted 13-15 Democratic votes for McConnell-Inhofe. Will he be right?
UPDATE: Evidently not. McConnell-Inhofe failed on a 50-50 vote, 10 short of the 60 the amendment needed.
