Robert Costa
reports that Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) attempt to attach an
amendment to a small business reauthorization bill that expresses
the sense of the Senate that candidate Barack Obama was right about
presidents needing congressional authorization has sent the
Democrats into a tizzy. On Wednesday, it got Sen. Dick Durbin
(D-IL) to say President Bush broke precedent by getting
congressional approval for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today,
it apparently got Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to adjourn the
Senate.

Gotta love those Tea Partiers. Don't be afraid to mix it up. Payback's a b!tch and long overdue.
Go Senator Paul!!
blackwatch| 4.1.11 @ 7:07PM
can't you write "bitch" on this website?
if you can read this posting then the answer is yes.
Jonah| 4.1.11 @ 7:11PM
Do you feel like a real man now?
Alan Brooks| 4.3.11 @ 6:58PM
Paul just wants to be president- but he wont ever be.
CalMark| 4.1.11 @ 5:48PM
Awesome! "Hoisted on their own petard."
BTW, I believe Presidents--Bush or even Obama--can commit U.S. forces wherever they please. Then again, Congress can cut off funding, as the Democrats did to lose in Vietnam.
But turnabout is fair play.
Clint| 4.1.11 @ 6:10PM
So The Stormin' Mormon wants to Get It On with We Tea Party Patriots.
You got it, Mouthy Mouse.
Aaaand, You'll See Us Again on Tax Day, Ya Little Twerpy Bastard.
The Tea Party Rebellion Escalates.

Alan Brooks| 4.3.11 @ 7:02PM
I don't like your politics, but like your style of writing:
"Stormin' Mormon"
"Mouthy Mouse"
"Asshat"
Funny. BTW, we know what assbackwards is- but what would assfrontwards be?
Jonah| 4.3.11 @ 7:20PM
You.
Alan Brooks| 4.3.11 @ 11:58PM
What would you look like if I were to get my hands on you?
Deceased.
Jonah| 4.4.11 @ 12:22AM
Snort! Your head is so far up your liberal ass you'd never find me.
Sheila| 4.1.11 @ 7:31PM
While I hesitate to endorse any politician, so far I actually like what I see and hear of Rand Paul. There's actually one man in the U.S. Congress.
Sean| 4.2.11 @ 10:14AM
Rand Paul upsetting Democrats and neocons since he got into the Senate. Got to love it.
Helio| 4.2.11 @ 6:02PM
He doesn't look as crazy as his father.
Sean| 4.2.11 @ 9:29PM
What are you talking about> I guess this is how our country got in such a mess. People who want to follow the Constitution are the crazy ones and the people who bankrupt us and devalue our currency and trample the Constitution are the sane ones? Give me a break.
Helio| 4.2.11 @ 11:11PM
Take a chill pill, Sean Boy. I didn't say Ron Paul is crazy, I just said he looks sorta crazy. Haha.
Alan Brooks| 4.3.11 @ 7:04PM
Paul looks similar to David Duke.
Jonah| 4.3.11 @ 7:23PM
Obama looks like Idi Amin.
Alan Brooks| 4.3.11 @ 11:54PM
Before you said he was a metrosexual, now you have changed your mind?
Jonah| 4.4.11 @ 1:04AM
Are you casting aspersions on the dashing President Amin?
You're racist!
Oldefarte| 4.2.11 @ 1:45PM
Durbin, Reid and their fellow Democrats are typically a pack of LIARS! Whether the enemy represents a national threat to this country or not is irrelevent, the constitutional requirement still exists for ANY military action initiated by our presidents to eventually and subsequently obtain congress' approval or disapproval legislatively. It's call ADVISE & CONSENT. As to Durbin's prevarication that Bush broke precedent, that is also a lie/falsehood, as Johnson sought/obtained congress' approval when the Viet Nam War was initiated [and I was a witness in the Senate gallery when same occurred]. Lying should become a criminal offense as pertaining to congressional testamony, and maybe we would not have to suffer the indignity of citizens from these elected representatives' untrue statements on record!!!!!!!
Anthony| 4.2.11 @ 2:06PM
Wow, a senator who's read the constitution and wants to follow it, maybe this guy could run for president.
danny @ Holly Lake Ranch| 4.2.11 @ 3:43PM
yeah he could run for president, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. we need him where he is doing exactly what he's doing at the present. don't ya think?
danny @ Holly Lake Ranch| 4.2.11 @ 3:55PM
personally, i cannot imagine why anyone would aspire to be the leader of this once great nation, when in my view you are running the chance of presiding over the demise of the greatest nation of all time. call me a pessimist if you want, but i fear we are past the point of no return. sure hope to be proven wrong.
martin j smith| 4.2.11 @ 2:25PM
Good job--we need more of this.
John Carnal| 4.2.11 @ 4:30PM
Rand my man! Attempt to attach this amendment to every last piece of legislation that Reid intends to bring to a vote. You have got them by the gonads on this one. Don't let go. Now if we could only get Boughner to show a little aggressive creativity.
Mimi| 4.3.11 @ 9:32AM

bert| 4.3.11 @ 10:16AM
It makes you reaslize that Old K street Mitchy McConnell and John Kyle could have stopped Obamacare if they wanted with tactics like this !
They did not want to play hard ball because they pork ladden request would have been threatened !
Mitchy and Johnny Bonehead , both K street Grifters need to be removed now.
Richard Baker| 4.3.11 @ 10:50AM
The political class in DC has got-to-go. Their "efforts" have bankrupted the country and set up a colossal financial collapse. If the Founding Fathers had know this could happen they might have kept the Articles of Confederation.
Richard Baker| 4.3.11 @ 11:33AM
Helio:
Zealots do have an impassioned look, don't they? The Pauls are good for the debate and more power to them. The Country is in a mess and Progressivism/Liberalism are the root causes. Shut the entire thing down to make a point and drastically reduce spending.
Helio| 4.3.11 @ 4:46PM
If by "impassioned" you mean a little wild-eyed; the answer is yes. I'm just giving true-believer Sean a little flack. It's fun.
Pennsylvania Tourism | 7.9.11 @ 9:35PM
Great blog. He might be right but I don't think the founders were much different from politicians nowadays. The only one I really admire is Thomas Paine and I don't think Thomas Paine would agree with Rand Pauls way of thinking at all.
