As Stacy notes in his column today, Andrew Sullivan is really mad at Obama over Libya. Now that Sully is denouncing the candidate he championed as “The Imperial President,” let me bring up a parenthetical aside in a post about his animosity for Hilllary Clinton, which I wrote on November 10, 2007:

If Obama were to win, I’d put money on Andrew following his mercurial Bush-era pattern exactly: descending into overwrought hagiography in the early years and then, at some point, turning on a dime.

I claim no special insight; this was about as difficult as predicting the sunrise. Still, I thought I’d mention it.

The leaderless Keystone Cops Diplomacy that is going is actually kind of amusing. With Germany and now India looking to keep themselves out of any long war the Coalition of Weenies shrinks and might shrink by the day.

-France suggests a political Steering Committee take up the leadership of the coalition.

-Germany pulls back worried that it might become a NATO operation, forcing them into a long war.

-India's Parliament said "Hell No" although their government had already joined in, and is now starting to pull back out.

-The Arab League doesn't sound like their hearts are in it and I bet China could be making noise against the Libya operation any day now.

We still don't know what the goal is, the exit strategy or the leader of this coalition mission in Libya. We don't even know who the rebels are, or if they really want anything like "democracy".

We went from "Cowboy Diplomacy" to "Keystone Cops Diplomacy".

Is it true that Sullivan writes his tripe, surrounded by naked men and boys, from his Provincetown bungalow?
Or is he still writing from a Men's Room stall, at the RAMROD BAR in the Village?

Sullivan should be asking Michelle if she's been keeping tabs on Barrack because the last time things were this screwed up the commander in chief was shtupping his intern.

Splendid, perfectly splendid Mr. Tabin.

Andrew Sullivan, the "conservative Catholic", has another hissy fit.

Lots of girls I've known like that.

I see only one problem with your post. It's missing what should be the standard definition of Sully Bear. Just as Tommy Lee is always identified as "troubled rocker," Sullivan needs to be identified as "noted gynophobe."

Haha. That's awesome - well done. Poor old Andy Sully.

What's interesting is that one can mark Sullivan's split from Bush as the moment Bush came out in favor of a constitutional amendment outlawing gay marriage. And now, his disaffection comes within mere weeks of when Obama signaled broadly to his base that he never meant it when he defended DOMA.
