A Gazette State poll shows the race for U.S. Senate in Montana is still a toss-up. Sen. Jon Tester, the incumbent Democrat, takes 46 percent of the vote to Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg’s 45 percent. This is within the poll’s margin for error, though the breakdown shows Tester winning plurality of independents and doing slightly better among Democrats than Rehberg does among Republicans. Tester, who barely beat scandal-tainted Republican Sen. Conrad Burns in the Democratic landslide year of 2006, is considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats in 2012.

Tester won in 2006 because the DNC spent a ton of money and brought people in from out of state to work on his campaign. Exploiting the Conrad Burns "scandal", they dumped money into our state politics to buy another senate seat for the Democrats. It was an embarrassing moment for Montana politics. Of course, Max Baucus has bought himself a new senate seat every term for the last 30 years, so what else is new. Our senators' strategy is to get a few bills passed with the word "veterans" or "forests" in them, and we're supposed to forget that they voted for things like stimulus spending and obamacare.

Let's neither morn nor rejoice just yet. The election is 18 months away. Still, it can't be a good sign for Tester that he's below 50%. One can hope.

What are Rehberg's conservative credentials? I see that he co-sponsored H.R.217, a bill to defund Planned Parenthood. That's a good sign that he gets it about the Federal role in strengthening families, the basic unit of society.

A win for the R's in MT would be a good sign of things to come.

I would check to see if your Secretary of State is Soros funded. We have a secrecy ballot in Oregon that makes it a secrecy even to the people who vote. This makes it real convenient to cook the numbers since there is no way to tell who voted for who. You just get a final tally. If you ask to see your ballot or how you voted.. forget it. I can only imagine a Democrat (Progressive) legislation would put something like this in place.

Right, if the SOS is George Soros funded, then Testor will win. That is why old George funded this program so the Democrats could win by fraud.

Rehberg is a dummy and won't defeat Jon Testicle.
