The best analogy I have read re Obama was here, on an AmSpec post. I'm sorry, I can't remember the writer's name. (You know who you are. Stand up and take credit for a great insight.)

This writer compared Obama to a young college woman, hired for the summer as a server at an oceanfront restaurant. All she wants is to have fun at the beach: parties, lying out in the sun, more parties. Her actual work waiting tables is something she would rather not do; in applying for the job, she never considered the demands of the work, only the fun of a summer at the beach. Because of her attitude, she is a poor worker. People at the tables she serves are unhappy and give her meager tips, or no tips at all. She thinks her customers are cheap and blames her failure on them.

She will not be rehired.
